How do you motivate yourself to get out of bed in the morning?
I've been severely depressed for months now, and since I don't have set hours at work (I come and go whenever I want) I'm finding it really hard to get out of bed unless I have an early morning meeting. Does anyone have any tips or advice? They would be greatly appreciated.
I saw this video the other day about this military man who was explaining how when he was training in the army, the first thing they were expected to do in he morning was to make their beds perfectly. He never understood why they had to do that and why he sergeants were so adamant that it be made in a certain way but he later came to understand that it was actually a really great thing because starting be day by accomplishing one small thing gave them the umph they needed to go on and accomplish something else, and something else... And if it ended up being a bad day, at least they knew they had accomplished at least one thing no matter how small it was.
That I need just to get out.. keep myself busy with anything, life will continue.. and won't wait for me
I put my phone in my bathroom, which is my alarm. So I actually have to get up and turn it off
Sometimes its hard my Limp's just move very slowly out of bed my daughter help's a lot too by jumping up and down on the floor in her room playing loudly and banging on the wall and when I'm very hungry that gets me out too :)
My grandkids give me my motivation. Not to mention I am a caretaker to my husband and 2 other people that depend on me. Otherwise I probably wouldn't get out of bed ever!!
It's not very easy to do, I can see why you're having this issue, but I suppose just thinking about how long you're going to keep this up and worry the people you care about can help. Honestly, food helps me get out of bed.

Have mission end then set some goals.
That really motivates me pumps me up.
A cant wait to wake up in the morning and show the world that anything is possible.
There is always something to look forward too and I can never forget that. I could dance today, feel the cool air against my face, see friends and family and/or I could eat some good food. Theres always something to get out of bed for, even if it is little... it is still something.
I have a cat. In the morning, when it's time for me to wake up, she jumps on me and headbutts me until I feed her. After that, when I'm already upright, out of bed, and moving, it's easier to keep going.
You don't know whats waiting for you, if you don't get out of bed.
