@SoulfullyAButterfly

I tried to make the list as short as possible since many topics interest me.

I am interested in developing content in those areas :

1) Maternal, Parenting & Relationships

2) Self-esteem & PTSD

3) Autism, Anxiety & Depression

For all of those I have an important lived experience of it, and in consequence both feel passionate about the topic and have researched it for myself.

@WhenTheTimeComes

I also had many areas that interested me :) I think many of us want to use our personal experiences to offer help and support to others. I think you're right, your personal experience means you can easily feel empathy with your readers and you'll have a greater knowledge of the subject through your own personal research. :)

@SoulfullyAButterfly

I am interested in writing about relationship, stress, anxiety and coping strategies. I can relate to these topics, have been through the difficult times and I hope with proper research and my personal experiences, I can write empathetic and helpful articles.

@SoulfullyAButterfly

Such a brilliant choice of topics! I'm especially interested in developing content for the following:

- Anxiety because I've dealt with this personally and read around the topic a lot!

- Family because I've worked with young children and families so have a lot of experience relating to parents and exploring family dynamics

- Couples because I've been through some messy relationships and explored what a healthy relationship is actually like

- LGBTQ+ because I'm part of that community and wish I had access to advice when I was younger

- ADHD because I received a late diagnosis and it has allowed me to make so much more sense of my life and I'd like to share what I've learned with others.

- Autism because I wish people understood more about the huge spectrum that is Autism

@SoulfullyAButterfly I would want to develop content for body image as it can have a huge impact on people's lives, LGBTQ issues though I am not a part of the community, I personally want to be able to understand what they go through and reach out to many people like them, teens as I myself am one of them and can understand what they might be going through.

@yourbuddy30
I like that you are willing to tackle topics that you not only have personal experience with, but also would like to learn more about. It can be important to expand your knowledge and understanding of important topics.

InvaderStitch January 4th, 2023

@yourbuddy30

I think both are important topics to write about. Body image also goes hand in hand with some LGBTQ+ issues. The non-binary and transgender people in my life have some pretty intense body dysmorphia

I am interested in multiple categories. These are anxiety, sleeping disorders, family, LGBT, coping skills, stress, relationships, and self-esteem. This is because they are all topics with which I have personal experience, so I would like to help others through their respective experiences and needs as it relates to them.

@SoulfullyAButterfly The areas that I would be more interested in developing content is:

  • Child and Adolescent: I just got a new job as a communications officer for a research centre on young people's mental health so I think it would be beneficial
  • LGBQT+: I am part of the community and work with small local organizations so it's something I like to advocate for as well.

@guidamaximo

It is really interesting to see how you want to work in areas that will help you with your job and also, the way you can bring personal experiences into the area that you have chosen to work on

Anxiety. Since it is something that I deal with

InvaderStitch January 3rd, 2023

@SoulfullyAButterfly

I'm primarily interested in PTSD.

My initial plan was wanting to write something about DID/Dissociative Disorders would that fall into the PTSD category since DID is usually a result of complex trauma in childhood?

Another category I was surprised not to see was Personality Disorders.

Now that I'm typing this, my therapist believes Complex PTSD, BPD, and DID are all sort of along a spectrum. That could be something interesting to learn more about.

The reason I'm interested in PTSD (and related conditions) is because I have struggled with my mental health due to severe childhood trauma. It took almost 8 years of going in and out of psychiatric facilities and changing doctors before I got the DID diagnosis. Before that I was diagnosed with BPD which came with a lot of stigma and the way I was treated with that diagnosis made my PTSD and DID symptoms so much worse. There's not a lot of knowledge or info on what DID/dissociative disorders really look like and I'd like to bring awareness to the condition. If I did a topic that combined CPTSD, DID, and BPD my focus would be on minimizing the stigma and helping others understand how the symptoms of both DID and BPD can be created by trauma as a means to adapt and survive the trauma individuals have experienced. I get a lot of inspiration from my therapist. She also has a dissociative disorder with alters (parts) and her struggles to find knowledgable and supportive therapists led her to get her PhD to become a therapist herself. She's someone I would like ask to consult with about the article to add expertise, authority and trust!

@InvaderStitch

Thank you for sharing your fantastic path and struggles. I appreciated the personal influences that went into making this decision and am glad to see I wasn't the only one to include an individual diagnosis with my reasoning behind my choice. Keep up the great work!😊

@InvaderStitch

Thank you for sharing your struggles and being strong. I think CPTSD (i may fall into that category) is something that needs to be discussed along with DID BPD. I can't wait to see what you write ^^

If I had to pick one focus area, exceedingly difficult for me, it would be ADHD. I choose this area because I feel the most connection to the content. I could create relatable content for all these focus areas' however, ADHD is a hyperfocus topic and will always motivate me to develop content. Also, by picking this focus area, I would be researching current understandings of ADHD which would go a long way toward understanding myself.

@SoulfullyAButterfly

The area of focus for me is LGBT, Depression, Emotional Abuse, and Autism.

The reason: I am autistic, bisexual/bigender, and suffered emotional abuse growing up. Mostly neglected it since my autistic brain thinks differently than others and it was easy to put me to the side and suggest "let's not worry about that and teach you how to be normal". As much research has improved, we never got to hear stories from adults with autism sharing their stories. Being LGBT, I also experienced neglect and it led to my depression. Also, I experienced a traumatic event from someone who was filled with hate and decided to create a negative narrative about me and the LGBT community.
