๐ซ Share Your Story Here - Autism Support ๐ซ
Hi to everyone who is part of this awesome community! ๐
Sometimes it can be overwhelming thinking of writing a brand new thread here and sharing your story... So I wanted to start this thread in hopes that it will help you out.
This is a safe place for you to share about Autism without judgement
Here are some questions that can help you get started in sharing your story ๐ฌ
โจWhen did you get your diagnosis? If you're not diagnosed yet, when did you start thinking that you are autistic?
โจ How does it affect you/your daily life?
โจ Do you have people in your life you feel like understand or support you? If so, who do you have?
โจ If you don't have support, what support do you wish you had?
โจ What is something you would like to educate other people on about Autism ?
โจ What resources do you wish were on Cups about Autism ?
These are only a few questions to get you started but feel free to share anything that you would like about your story. You are important and deserve to be heard

your posts are so good ๐ญ๐
๐ข I got my diagnosis in March.
๐ข I'm still figuring out how it affects me, because autism is me, if that makes sense. Sensory sensitivies are hard, attention to detail is a beauty.
๐ข I only have people on cups who understand and support me. I am just leaving my two current therapists who understand, not sure if my new ones will.
๐ข I wish I could meet other autistics irl
@teenytinyturtle
I love seeing you on Cups! Thanks for taking the time to answer
How are you feeling since being diagnosed?
It's okay to still be figuring things out ๐ When you say sensory sensitives, would you like to share a little more about that.
I'm really glad that you feel supported on Cups. I know leaving therapists who you feel comfortable with is hard. But hopefully you will feel just as supported by the new therapist you have.
- I got diagnosed as an adult after having my daughter. Honestly I started having a hunch that I was autistic because I am very particular about things and it made me reflect on my childhood an really made sense. I was always beating to the beat of my own drum.
- Sometimes it can be alittle depleting and burn me out faster.
- I do have a support system that truly understands me and provide me with support when necessary. I have my daughter, my in-laws, my friends, my fiance and my grandparents.
- That not everyone with Autism is the same, we are all different and unique in our own way. We all have different things that make us triggered and we all have our own learning techniques.
- Autism daily worksheets would be helpful on 7cups that if those of us wish to work on or do, it could potientally show progession of when we first started till now.
@PhoenixButterfly97
How are you feeling since you were diagnosed? Everyone has a different response to being diagnosed later in life.
I'm glad to hear that you have a support system. Thats really great to hear!
Its a very important point that you made - not every autistic person is the same. Thank you for sharing that.
Ooh worksheets sound interesting. Could it be a on a thread? What kind of questions would you like to see on the worksheet?
I feel good knowing part of why I was so odd as a child,
I believe so, and i would love to see moments of when autism is at its worst, what level of progression the individual feels they are at and so on so forth. I believe it would be a great opportunity for growth and room for others' to become involved and ask questions too
1: Really young
2: Traveling/going out, talking too others, & basic selfcare is exhausting and difficult. Hobbys can also overwhelm me easily too. If I'm too overstimulated I become mute ;]
@0B
I'm sorry to hear that things can be exhausting and difficult at times. What are some ways that you manage those feelings?
fidget toys and rocking, also mediation esk stuff, i know sticking my thumbs in my ears too hear the waves inside my head is a good one sometimes.

Get diagnose last year when 13 never think autistic ! doctor tells my parents get assessment need services . After diagnose parents brothers all say KNEW already think no matter got diagnosis no diagnosis because lot other things already know wrong me

on cups can say autism means understanding more
I was diagnosed at 6 years old
I struggle all my life. I didn't learn to talk until I was 8 years old. Everything I learned has been hard-won. I still struggle with basic things like showering. I have an official mental and understanding age of 10 to 12.
My mum tried to care for me but I got put into care. In care, I wasn't really heard or seen. I got some support to learn to do some things but they didn't bother with me much. I wish they tried harder to teach me to talk and work on life skills.
One thing I wish we all knew and agreed with is. We can learn even those of us who don't understand we can learn. I deserve a life outside of care we should all have the option to have a life outside of care.
