Anxiety Judgement. (what is the worst you have been told....)
Its so easy for people to judge and say hurtful things...
share here the worst you have been told about your anxiety :
All my life I have been told that it is all in my head. Just deal with it. No one ever really listened or believed me. One of the reasons why it is so hard for me to open up about myself now.
"there's nothing to be afraid of" - my mother every time i try and explain something related to my anxiety. i mean it's not supposed to be rational you know ._.
"This is your fault."
"You did this to yourself"
:"You got yourself into this s***hole of a life, now get yourself out!"
"You were warned, why didn't you listen?"
"You could be happy right now. You're deciding not to."
All courtesy of my own brain.
"Come on!!!!! Aim already!!!! Locate the target and fire or do I need to do it for you!!!!!"
You can probably understand how anxiety can be a problem when you're a combatent soldier. And i am not looking for pity i just... i just don't know what to do...
@amiableOwl9068
I hate that, when others rush me and then say, do I need to do it for you. Makes me feel incapable upon already being anxious. Yuck people!
My mom telling me "get over it" like if it was so easy??? or thinking im just shy when that has nothing to do with social anxiety, it's completely different. Or my father not believing me like if i could ever joke about that.
@TakenbySleep1
Hearing that from parents is deeply upsetting, feels like an up hill battle at times. Unfortunately they are human too and have limitations in understanding. You can't help people that refuse to learn. Every human has faults and working around that is fustrating at times.
@ReservedExcitement yeah they are the ones that should understand and support me the most. It was hard cause they seemed not to care about it and I know I would help my daughter if I was in their place. But my social anxiety is so much better now :)
'You're just shy, it's nothing to worry about. Come back to us if you're suicidal.'
@neonBalsam6014
Ouch, that is bad. People need to honestly think before they speak. Prevention is always better then trying to help when people are at their ends wits. Sometimes people don't realize how valuable others are. You are very valuable!
@ReservedExcitement Thank you. I think I need to remember that more often!
