Exploration Garden: New Rules to Foster a More Focused Exploration Environment

...See more Hello everyone,  Exploration Garden (EG) group chat was introduced in July 2023 [https://www.7cups.com/forum/groupmod/CommunityManagersOffice_2008/Introducing7CupsExplorationGarden_309812/] as an extended version of the Sharing Circle. Since then, EG has undergone multiple iterations and changes to improve it for everyone This post will share the next changes and updates regarding the Exploration Garden group chat.  We want to emphasize the key distinction between the Sharing Circle and Exploration Garden:  Sharing Circle [https://www.7cups.com/forum/groupmod/MemberSharingCircles_2109/7CupsSharingCirclesarenowLIVE_218662/]is a space to share with others primarily, here you can vent, get validation, and express your thoughts/feelings/experiences to share those with others. The exploration garden [https://www.7cups.com/forum/groupmod/CommunityManagersOffice_2008/Introducing7CupsExplorationGarden_309812/] by contrast is not so much a place to share, but rather a place to gain assistance in exploring our thoughts/feelings/experiences, here we are trying to learn and explore, seeking new perspectives, new understandings, and deeper meanings. Based on the feedback received from the community and observations of trends within the group chat, we are rolling out the following changes to promote and foster an exploration environment in the EG.   1. EG will only be open when a facilitator is present. Without facilitation, the sessions tend to get off track, and unable to keep up with the guidelines for running an effective exploration session. Here is the updated schedule of the Exploration Garden session:  * Host-L stands for assigned listener host  * Host-M stands for covered by community mod * Red rows represent no coverage at the moment, so no session will take place during these hours until we onboard new hosts to lead those hours.  2.  Releasing an exploration guide for participants to understand how effective exploration works, the DOs and DONTs, Tips to get the most out of the session, and how to offer support to the sharers. Click here to access a copy of the exploration guide.  [https://docs.google.com/document/d/1cMu6p6eSrlqV3StpeY4SX4MRBsBdCPwhRiU_pKvRSZI/edit] 3. If you want to join the Exploration Garden Hosting Team, you can now express your interest by filling out a short form here!  [https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScjtDkb4M8XXOZMh1ClAoo-ZYq5fNPohtB1MwxXozv2d4p04A/viewform] The new changes will be implemented w.e.f Sept 20, 2024.  If you have any questions, please feel free to share with us below in the thread or reach out to @Heather225 or me aka @ASilentObserver

...See more Ready to Transform Your Wellness with Accountability? Setting specific health and wellness goals is an effective way to improve your physical and mental wellbeing. These can include goals like exercising regularly, eating more vegetables, drinking more water, or finding time for mindfulness. Having a defined time frame adds structure, helping you stay focused and committed as you work toward achieving these goals. Ask yourself right now: what do you want to improve on in your life? Tips to Make Your Wellness Goals Easy to Track and Follow Through With: * Make your goal specific and measurable. For example, "do 30 minutes of exercise each day" or "read 1 chapter of my book each day". Specific and measurable goals are easier to track. * Keep it simple! Avoid overwhelming yourself by starting small. Committing to 1-3 daily tasks can make it more manageable and sustainable. Now, how does this apply to 7 Cups, and being accountable? You’re much more likely to succeed when you share your progress with others, and that’s where our Wellness Accountability Huddles come in. A Huddle is a group chat where the same participants meet up regularly to chat about common issues/interests in order to learn more about and deeply explore them. Our Huddles take place inside the 7 Cups group chat system and aim to provide groups of users continuous support and social connection. We are excited to launch Wellness Accountability Huddles. The Huddle journey will last for 5 weeks. The expected launch dates of these Huddles are within 2 weeks of this announcement. Please check your availability before applying. Structure: What Will a Huddle Consist Of? Each Huddle will aim to have around 20-30 members. The group will be open 24/7 and only badged members will have access. Thus, it is an opportunity for a shared, closer connection. 3 huddle groups will be created to accommodate groups of users in the current round, and we hope to onboard further interested users when the first “batch” is completed.  * This Huddle opportunity is available for members only. Listeners are encouraged to switch to a member account to participate. * This Huddle is currently open to adult users only.  Your Huddle experience will involve: * Once accepted, you will be asked to introduce yourself and some of your goals for joining the Huddle. Introducing yourself as well as participating during the first Huddle week at least once is compulsory to confirm your spot - these 2 actions will help you build the foundation of your longer-lasting journey! Here is what you can expect during your Huddle journey: Week 1 - Introductions Week 2 - Embracing Goals (and starting to share our progress) Week 3 - The Power of Mindfulness and Self-Care Week 4 - Managing Setbacks Week 5 - Celebrating Progress  The only expectations of you (other than participating every week!) is that you are willing to share the goals you are interested in as well as some commitment to work on some progress while sharing it. You are open to hearing other people’s stories and goals and will treat each of your peers with respect.  Some recommendations to ensure a beneficial experience include: * Try to participate in the group chat at least once a week. While you do not have to answer each prompt, you can share your daily experiences or other concerns. * Read other responses and reply to other participants: helping one another explore our reflections helps us all benefit from the interaction. Apart from the above guidelines, all users are expected to follow the general chatroom guidelines [https://www.7cups.com/community-guidelines/Member-Chatroom-Guidelines-9de0c9c1b6114d14a130f1b842af36fe]and the community guidelines [https://www.7cups.com/community-guidelines/]. For any further questions or feedback, you can PM @SoulfullyAButterfly or send an email to ayesha@7cups.com Ready to Sign Up? Please fill in this form [https://forms.gle/FWJro9iKPKaWTSBt5].

Is it possible to mute a moderator?
by Antonio7Cups
Last post
August 31st
...See more I've seen this question asked and briefly answered in rooms quite a few times, but I certainly think it's best to answer the question and clarify the answer: To the question: Is it possible to mute a moderator? the answer is: No, it's not possible. The main function of moderators in a chat room is to ensure compliance with the rules of that room. It's important to remember that each room in 7 Cups has its own specific rules depending on the purpose or topics discussed in each chat room. So, how could moderators effectively fulfill their duty if they could be muted by anyone? I've made up an example, so that it can be better understood why a moderator cannot be muted: A Newbie, who is a user who has been in the community for less than a month, starts writing all of his messages in capital letters. As you may know, regardless of the chat room, you cannot write in all caps because this could be triggering for some members/listeners, as among other things, it could be interpreted as you are shouting. When someone breaks a community rule, they are given two or three reminders before being given a warning, as we believe that sometimes it is less difficult to address things through verbal reminders. Imagine that the user Newbie had muted the moderator before they started typing in all caps. Well, this would mean that the user Newbie would not be able to see the reminders provided by the moderator, and therefore, since the user Newbie would not notice the reminders, they would continue typing in all caps. In the end, all this would lead to the moderator having no choice but to give them the warning. However, this would lead to an even bigger misunderstanding, as the Newbie would see on them screen that he had received a warning and would not know why he had received it, as he had muted the moderator and could not see the reminders prior to the warning and moderators cannot customize the texts that appear when a warning is placed, they are predetermined texts depending on the reason for the warning you select. ------------------------- If you know someone who has this question, don't hesitate to tag them in this post or share the link to the post. I hope this text has been helpful to you. ❤️ Greetings, Antonio. (Group Support Teen Star) Tagging some people I think would be interested in this post: @ASilentObserver @Suryansh @Lou73
Guide to finding a moderator for a session.
by Antonio7Cups
Last post
August 30th
...See more Sometimes finding a moderator for a session that requires one can be a real challenge, whether it's due to availability, time zone differences, or other reasons. After all, we are a global community, and like everything, it has its advantages and disadvantages. Today, I want to share with you all some methods that can help you find a moderator for your session easily. It is important to emphasize that these are just methods, and that this post does not guarantee 100% that there will always be a moderator available for your session. First method: Find a Community Moderator and send them a message letting them know that you need moderation for a session. Community Moderators are 7 Cups employees whose sole function is to moderate 7 Cups chat rooms, nothing more than that. If you want to know more information about Community Mods and their role, you can check it out here: https://tinyurl.com/CommunityModInfo One way to find one that is active, since as employees, they have their schedule, is to check the Community Mod Schedule and see which Community Moderator is active. Remember that, the time will always be in Eastern Time (ET). You can use a time converter to convert your country's time to ET or vice versa. Below is a link to a converter created by @rarelycharlie that does this easily: https://rarelycharlie.github.io/7cupstime In the schedule post you will also find a list of Community Moderators, so you can find out how to contact them by looking at the schedule. Here is the link to check the schedule: https://tinyurl.com/CommunityModSchedule If this doesn't work for you, since you sent a message to the Community Mod and they didn't reply, try looking for them in the chat rooms and ask them something like: Hi "Community Mod", I need your help please, can I message you privately? After all, the work area of Community Mods are the chat rooms, and many times they must be so busy with moderation that they can't be checking their private messages constantly, since they don't know if someone is messaging them about something really important, really important, so important that they are absent for a moment from their main function, the moderation of the chat rooms. Second method: Find someone who is like a Community Moderator, but a volunteer. Community Moderators are Global Moderators, that is, they moderate all the Group Support chat rooms of the 7 Cups. The good news is that there are also Global Moderators in 7 Cups who are volunteers, that is, they perform the same function as a Community Moderator but without expecting any benefit. It is true that volunteer Global Moderators, if they are not mentors for a listener room, will not be able to moderate in the listener chat rooms, they will only be able to moderate the rooms intended for members. And you may ask yourself: How can I find or identify a Global Mod? Well, Global Moderators wear a badge called "Group Mod" on their profile page. To find a Global Moderator, you can click on the link below, where you will see a list of Global Moderators: https://tinyurl.com/GlobalModList If you see a green dot on someone's profile picture, it means they are active and free and therefore more likely to get back to you quickly. If the dot appears yellow, it means they are busy. If the dot appears red, it mostly means they are not online. However, it never hurts to message the people on that list as a last resort even if the dot appears red, since many people can put their dot in red and be online, since that can be changed manually by the user. Note: Community Moderators will also appear on that list, since both volunteers and 7 Cups employees are considered Global Moderators and will therefore always have the same badge. Third method: Use the Group Support Moderator/Doorkeeper Request form [https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSf6mgwzVCA-TTDzahtCH7mXdmxE5jTakstcQDWoQ_nXk2CfdA/viewform] (clickable). This form is used, among other things, to notify a moderator to open/close a room at the start or end of a session. It is important that you always check the "Need help to open or close a group chat" option in the first question and that you also fill out all the required information so that your request can be processed successfully and everything goes correctly. In the last question, where you are asked if you have any comments, say that you need moderation for the entire session and anything else specific that the moderator has to do, if the rules of that session ask for it, such as putting up a banner or anything else. It is understood that since this is a form also used for emergencies in the chat rooms, there must be a quick response, normally a maximum of 15 minutes. I hope this guide has been helpful to you! Please, if you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact me [https://www.7cups.com/@Antonio7Cups]. Sincerely, Antonio. (Group Support Teen Star)
