7 Cups Leadership Guidelines

Sunday
...See more Thank you for being a leader on 7 Cups! Community leaders are a significant part of our community. In stepping into a leadership role with 7 Cups, you have agreed that you align with our values and wish to uphold our mission. You have the ability to inform and influence our community members. So, it is important to lead by example and be a role model to inspire others to aspire to be someone like you to extend the support to others. In addition to the community guidelines, rules, and policies [https://www.7cups.com/about/communityGuidelines.php] currently in place, we are including a list of reminders, as well as one new rule. ➡ As a community leader, you may be provided with confidential information to perform your work on a team or a project. Use this knowledge for its intended purpose only. In other words, please do not abuse your privileges. We trust you to be responsible and maintain confidentiality. ➡. Refrain from engaging in triangulation. This is a very common mistake people make without even realizing it's happening. Triangulation manifests itself in our community as one person who will not communicate directly with another person, and instead use a third person to relay communication to the second, thus forming a triangle. Triangulation is damaging because it interferes with healthy conflict-resolution and lends itself to rumor spreading by taking a private situation between two users and exposing it to more people. Read more about this and take the Triangulation Pledge. [https://www.7cups.com/forum/ListenerCommunityampSiteUpdates_38/LaurasOffice_169/WhatisTriangulation3StepstoAvoidingStoppingitfromhappeninginthecommunity_35107/1/] ➡. Community leaders must maintain strong boundaries. Being a role model, and a trustworthy and reliable leader, users may become dependent on you. To nurture healthy relationships with the community, it's imperative that you set boundaries for yourself and respect those of others. ➡. Community leaders accept feedback gracefully. Getting feedback can be hard to hear, especially if it's more of a constructive criticism than a praise. Leaders should be able to accept feedback gracefully if given constructively. We all are human and all have things to work on and grow. ➡ Please honor and follow our social media policies (i.e. no off-site contact with community members). 7 Cups is a safe environment for you to build and create connections. We love that you are building supportive relationships with each other and enjoy connecting! In order to preserve this safe space, we ask you not to solicit off-site contact. Also bear in mind, once you take interactions off 7 Cups, we are unable to assist you in the event something happens outside of our site. ➡ Reporting is our responsibility. You are the eyes of our community. We have several ways to report incidents that cover all areas of the site, and we rely on you to direct users to those channels. We also rely on you to use them as well. As the slogan goes: if you see something, say something. ➡ We respect your right to use whatever sites you'd like. However, since we launched, we have discovered that some of our leaders have also been working with non-crisis sites that are similar to 7 Cups. We are all for competition, but we want the intention behind it to be solving broader emotional health challenges. We don't want the competition to be a negative interaction between companies. To protect our community and its ongoing progress, we ask that if you would like to pursue leadership with us that you do not affiliate yourself in leadership positions with non-crisis sites similar to 7 Cups. (When I say similar sites, I am referring to any site that offers the same services as us. This would not include therapists, AA, NAMI, and assistance programs that share our broad goal to provide support in the healthcare industry but are not set up to operate like we do. They all offer different components that work in tandem with us.) Leaders: please reply below if you have read and understood these rules! If you have any questions, you may PM anyone on the community team (@Hope, @ASilentObserver, myself).

...See more Hi everyone! I hope you are well. As you know lately we have been making efforts to familiarise our users with our sub-communities. We had some success with sub-community workshops [https://www.7cups.com/forum/CommunityProjectsEvents_184/SubcommunityWorkshops_2163/SignuptoleadSubcommunityworkshops_231973/] but we also want to do the training on a larger scale. It does not take a lot to understand the basics of sub-communities. By the end of doing the activities/steps in this post, you should be ready to explore sub-communities on your own. Anyone who completes all of the following steps and lets us know in this thread will get the explorer badge. Step 1: Watch this video [https://youtu.be/FZPoqwyikXg] Step 2: Complete this Quiz [https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScZX9mReUYVombXPAliiv7_NI0aHDw33JGcVVP7av74WZzoyw/viewform] Step 3: Post here and let us know that you did step 1 and 2 and what you learned/liked about the video/quiz. Thank you to @Tazzie for creating the video and the quiz. Once you have received the explorer badge, you become eligible to take part in the Building Community Program. Forum Restructuring Timeline and Updates!
by CheeryMango
Last post
August 19th, 2022
...See more Hello everyone. As you may already know, the site and the forums have been undergoing changes for the last few months to make it easier to use. Throughout the next 6 weeks, we will be providing updates to the community to ensure that everyone is well informed about the next phase of changes. The goal of all this work is to make navigation and usage of the forum easier for everyone. And, in particular, make it easier for newbies to get involved. How many times do we see someone start a post with “I’m not sure if this is the right place but…”! The good news is that the changes are working and as a community we’ve nearly doubled the amount of posts we make and hearts/upvotes we give in the last 10 months! Truthfully, change is always uncomfortable. Even when the change is something positive, adjusting to something new takes time and requires adaptation. We hope the changes benefit as many of you as possible. But it’s inevitable that some will not like these changes. When you haven’t experienced a specific change, like the forum restructuring, there’s no way to predict what will happen. This is something new that we’re taking on as individuals and as a community, so this is a learning process for us all. There will be bugs, delays and other issues as we progress through this, but we will continue to work on them to improve and not revert back to the old changes. Main changes * The layout (template) of each (sub) community homepage (e.g. 35+ community) will be upgraded to fit with the structure and style you see today on the dashboard (7cups.com/dashboard) and the main community page (7cups.com/home). * The sub-forum layer to each community will be removed so that you go straight into posts and threads when you go into a community. This happens today when you go to a (sub) community and sort by “New” or “Popular” and see posts rather than sub-forums. * Many popular sub-forums will be elevated into becoming their own communities. This is to balance out the problem created by removing the sub-forum layer - that the top level communities are too broad and general (e.g. “Hobbies”). When we checked earlier this year we had 30+ communities and over 600+ sub-forums! Finding the right sub-forum to post in is tricky for newer users because the topic you want could be hidden in any of the 30+ communities. One of the many areas where we need your help is to finalise the names of the new communities. The timeline we’re working towards is to gradually release and test these changes over the coming 6 weeks. If we encounter technical issues, it could take longer. To our community leaders, we know how hard you have been at work in your various roles and communities and we are truly appreciative of your support. With the forum restructuring, we have to make some necessary changes to how you carry out your roles and responsibilities. This means there will be changes to how we track your monthly quotas, how communities are laid out in the communities and how tasks will be delegated to everyone fairly and equally. There will be an increased number of communities that will be introduced to the site and we will need leadership coverage to ensure that they are being properly managed. Through the next few weeks, we will be sharing proposed communities with you to gather feedback and assign coverage to them. There will also be an increase in recruitment and changes to our leadership applications as mentioned in a recent update that was given over the weekend. I know that you have questions now and will in the coming weeks and we will ensure that there are several opportunities for you to share them and you will be provided with clear and concise responses. The first opportunity will be an AMA in the forums where you can ask questions and they will be answered by Head of Product and myself next week. @soulsings @MoonlightHelper1 @EmmaE @MyNameIsNicole @Sher217 @Lucy2 @MistyMagic @PoliteOcean @KateDoskocilova @theriverissinging @RumpleSteeleSkin @VerseArt @mamtasha22 @Mel @pamharley003 @Starlasky @MyNameIsNicole @ASilentBunny @AffyAvo @FrenchMarbles @wonderfulRainbow817 @tranquilbear14 @ashlyntheordinary @TheOwl00 @usefulSummer3138 @Paprika001 @DonaldDraper @whenitsdarklookforstars @HopieRemi @Mango3 @Fristo @LavenderHere @ouiCherie @BlueRiver5968 @hopezzy @Nonethewiser @aeris156 @magicalOcean594 @amiablePeace77 @HealingTalk @Paprika001 @MoonlightHelper1 @RideaRainbow @bestVase7265 @kdsyahirah @Livingtohelplive @EmotionsListener @WorriedMagpie @AveryLove @SirenofSerenity @TaranWanderer @amazingNutella24 @bluelotus99 @LavenderFlower @SilverSeastar @KatieTheBigRockOne @hopezzy @Jaeteuk @KBeauty12 @wonderfulRainbow817 @sunshinegiraffe123 @mamtasha22 @SparklingSeashells @sophiasanae @WarmLightXO @ChildGoddessFlute @AndyLV @InternalAcceptance @AiRV002 @Sealiously @sxhanicy @youareamazing13 @DarkPiT23 @willowyapple @Ninziesss @NicholasW @dreawiser @Clarisse29 @GoldenRuleJG @hopefulWillow1711 @Nightskypleasure

Subcommunity Forums Update #1!
by CheeryMango
Last post
February 18th, 2022
...See more Hello everyone! I'm here to provide the community with a few updates that will be taking place in the next few months. The 7cups subcommunities will be undergoing a total forum restructure over the next few months to ensure that the forums in the various subcommunities are easier to navigate and easy with the new member homepage and soon-to-be listener homepage. Please take note of the following below: * At this time, no new subforums will be created. Although a few have requested that subforums be created for specific topics, we will have to put that on hold until we are finished with the current list of subforums in the subcommunities. Additionally, I would like to request that the community leaders refrain from creating new subforums for the time being. I will provide an update as soon as this can be resumed. * The archive subforums will be removed from all subcommunities except 7cups Academy, Safety & Knowledge, Group Support, and Therapy subcommunities. In the event that a post is to be kept in a community/forum, community leaders and team leaders will be contacted. * You must be mindful of deleting and editing posts if you have global moderation across the entire site. It is always a good idea to familiarize yourself with and refer to the community's forum guidelines before editing a post. If you see a post that you believe needs to be deleted, please flag it with the flag option or message me (@CheeryMango) or @Mel with the link to the forum post. The post will be investigated further before a decision is made. In the event that a person deletes posts without notifying an admin or ambassador, their badge(s) will be removed or they will have their role on hold. * This procedure will be done until we find that there are no more posts being unfairly deleted in the community forums without the proper warnings and measures being taken. Lastly, during the restructuring process, we will be merging forums, renaming a few, and moving threads around. After all the changes are processed, updates will be posted in this thread. Please stay tuned for future updates and information about this process. @Heather225 @Mel @bookworm274 @tami150 @theriverissinging @sunisshiningandsoareyou @ouiCherie @Azalea98 @soulsings @MoonlightHelper1 @M4GIC @Azalea98 @Sher217 @Lucy2 @PoliteOcean @KateDoskocilova @RumpleSteeleSkin @Power @CheeryMango @VerseArt @rebecca947 @Bubblegumwings1234 @DayDreamWithYou @Mel @KimsonTheSteveFundYPOC@pamharley003 @Eudaimonia99 @bookworm274 @tami150 @EmmaE @MyNameIsNicole @ashlyntheordinary @SnailPurple @usefulSummer3139 @DonaldDraper @whenitsdarklookforstars @brightSunset61 @Fristo @Mango3 @QuietMagic @ouiCherie @LavenderHere @Sher217 @Greenchoice1 @hopebeyondpain @aeris156 @hopedreamlove@amiablePeace77 @MeaningfulSilence @WarmLightXO @KACOSMIC @MollyT @bestVase7265 @placidWest9840 @AffyAvo @wonderfulRainbow817 @MoonChild1206 @SnailPurple @TaranWanderer @amazingNutella24 @HopieRemi @DarkPiT23 @LoveToGod @LavenderFlower @sereneButton43 @KatieTheBigRockOne @lueurspace @sunshinegiraffe123 @hopezzy @SparklingSeashells @mamtasha22 @xinyii11@Moonlemon48 @mspretentious @xinyii11 @crang17 @KACOSMIC @Lele01 @MollyT @Sealiously @helpingxhearts @MoonChild1206 @LisaListens2ugladly @Clarisse29 @GoldenRuleJG @lemonicecreamcake @29Amy @Chloe1516 @Oceanwaves16

Subcommunity Updates #2

...See more Greetings everyone! I hope this post finds you well. For those of you who may not know, I’m the Subcommunity Ambassador and I oversee all things relating to the subcommunities. I know that these last few months have been challenging for our subcommunities and their leaders, but I would like to reassure you that my team and I are going to ensure that things continue to progress in an upward direction. I am here to announce upcoming developments and changes to subcommunities and leadership roles. Role Limit in Subcommunities Something that will be reiterated ever so often is the role limit in the subcommunities. As mentioned here [https://www.7cups.com/forum/SiteUpdates_100/TazziesCubicle_2206/NewGuideline_252407/], the new guideline for sub-community leadership states that all listeners and members are welcome and allowed to be a part of only 3 sub-community teams at once, with a maximum of 6 roles overall. This includes the following subcommunity roles: * Room Supporter * Group Moderators * Support Team Leaders/Support Team Teen Stars * Forum Supporters * Community Mentors/Teen Community Stars * Community Mentor Leaders * Project Agents Monthly check-ins will be done to ensure that each leader stays within this limit. If you currently exceed this limit (if you are part of 4 or more teams or hold 7 or more roles), if you want to step down from any roles, or if you want to switch between subcommunity teams, please reach out to either @CheeryMango or @Azalea98 to get that sorted out. Subcommunity Forums Organization * What we have started doing in this quarter was forum restructuring. The purpose of this is to ensure that the forums are easier to navigate for the entire community. Forum restructuring includes: * The merging of subforums in subcommunities * Removal or Archival of outdated posts * Updated versions of descriptions and subforum names * Updated guidelines and resources for subcommunities * An updated post of the changes made to each subcommunity’s subforum will be posted and made available for the community to make note of any and all changes that were made. This is a lengthy process and can expect it to take a while until all of the forum spaces are properly organized. Any feedback or suggestions on the changes made can be left under the post or privately messaged. Subcommunity Leaders Room * The subcommunity leaders room is a room designated for subcommunity leaders to use the room for subcommunity-related purposes. In hopes of avoiding clashes between teams and other leaders, it will now be required to book the room in advance through a booking form. You can use this form [https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfw7AnCpUuqJ4YLnzly7dbY3_c7UvkQ58RpbRo1X9w507YA5g/viewform] to submit a reservation with your requested date and time for team meetings, team building sessions, or leaders’ meetings with the Subcommunity Leaders. Following submission of the form, you will be contacted by a community leader to confirm your reservation and if any changes need to be made. New Subcommunity Mentor Leader * Azalea98 has so graciously joined the subcommunity leadership team as our newest Subcommunity Mentor Leader. She will be overseeing the leadership domain of the subcommunities and will be the go-to person for questions and concerns on leadership roles in the subcommunities. I wish her the best in this role and I am grateful to have her assistance. Monthly Leadership Check-in * As an effective way to keep track of leaders and ensure that everyone is active in their leadership roles, it will now be a monthly requirement to submit a leadership check-in form to let the subcommunity leadership team know whether or not you are still active in your role or would like to be removed from your team(s). This form will be alerted and will be open for submissions until the last day of each month. Failure to submit the form will result in you being removed from your team(s) and considered inactive. * If the deadline has passed and you weren’t able to complete the form due to a self-care break or any other reason, you can message @Azalea98 or @CheeryMango to have your badges reinstated. You can expect more regular and frequent update posts like this in the near future. Thank you for taking the time to read. We greatly appreciate your support. ------------------------- Last updated 11/30/2021 by CheeryMango
Burnout Prevention- Reminders
by Tazzie
Last post
April 14th, 2021
...See more Hello everyone! Hope you are doing well. I would like to shed some light on a very important topic today. I genuinely appreciate all the efforts each of you put in to support our sub-communities. Thank you for your kindness and valuable time! While I sincerely admire the dedication, I greatly care for your well-being and it concerns me when I see listeners taking on roles in more than 3 sub-community teams. I have personally seen over 4 teams on some profiles. I definitely understand the enthusiasm, passion and interest in developing new experiences. However, involvement in more than 3 sub-communities has been resulting in Burnout for many. Due to burnout, self-care and quality support are being compromised and negatively impacted. To prevent burnout, please take the following steps into consideration: 1. Prioritize self-care 2. Maintain volunteer work in upto (but not more than) 3 sub-community teams 3. Set boundaries 4. Incorporate time management skills I hope these reminders serve you in the most positive ways possible. If you have already been putting these into practice, keep up the great work! Thank you for all you do for others! Please know that you as a person and volunteer hold a lot of importance. Take great care of yourself and have a fabulous week! @Mel @Cheerymango

Hello! Welcome to the community. We are currently restructuring the forums and other aspects of the community - we appreciate your patience and support. ❤️
