What is difficult for you this Christmas season, and where do you find happiness despite your current situation?

I find the commercial part of Christmas no longer as attractive as it once was. I give leeway to my daughter to shop for the grandkids. I no longer am tuned in to what children want for gifts. 

The hardest thing for me is the loss of parents. I was not always seeing eye to eye with them but part of me imagined safety and security and caring in their presence. I have friends but none of them has that connection that I feel like with a parent. In some ways I am fortunate to have the opportunity to let go. No one lives forever and at some point I would have to let go anyway.

The dark days and nights are challenging and the cold weather. I appreciate Spring even more in the depths of Winter.

@amiablePeace77 memories, and being alone is the hardest part of xmas, I see and hear of so many families celebrating and the love they share. I would like that🙂 but what makes it happy, is that I finally get to celebrate and have fun 😁 I decorated a ginger bread house yesterday, I got so sticky with icing😁😁😁😁

What is difficult for you this Christmas season? 

Not being able to spend time with my dad and great grandmother who passed away. 

Despite knowing and accepting everyone goes at some point bc time is eventually over for all of us no matter what and that it’s just a normal process of life that’ll never change, it’s still difficult without them. 

Where do you find happiness despite your current situation?

In memories (good memories of course), meditating, writing songs that are happy themed, being on here.

for us Christmas  is very hard due to so much being lost close to Christmas. memories of  the last Christmas with my 3 kids. before they was taken into foster-care and later we lost parental rights. seems memories of them been coming a lot this year.

then trigger warning Christmas  holiday from school as a kid  was a lot of abuse in very bad ways. mostly by my oldest brother and his friends. so feelings and memories been coming  up about all them times. when mom  went to  watch other peoples kids leaving me with my brothers. guess he  feeling of abandoned  coming up too. this a emotional one. now  that been away from family for some time it seem more memories coming up. also in more detail ways. so that making Christmas  hard this year.

also feel lonely due to really have no one around us this Christmas. we  will have dinner at mental health club. with others who also have no place  to go. so  at least we  will be around others.

What is difficult for you this Christmas season, and where do you find happiness despite your current situation?

I'm poor and my life has been unstable.  I've found peace living alone and with my cat.

What is difficult for you this Christmas season, and where do you find happiness despite your current situation?

Given there is a nation-wide postal strike, that limits ordering gifts for loved ones, I am gifting through e- gift cards & e-cards. Not the same as sending through the mail, but still being able to reach out, given the circumstances.

@amiablePeace77 Navigating my expectations for the kids, my husband and in law relationships

1. The tasteless orgy of commercialism that is the soul of Christmas, instead of what it used to be so long ago. I've never been Christian but I would respect it more if it were still about the story of the baby Jesus in the horse stable with Mary, the three sages showing up to commemorate it, etc.
2. It gets lonely, in the holiday season.
3. Allergy season is just around the corner. Oh boy, I can't wait for that s***... 😒

What is difficult for you this Christmas season?

I was supposed to go visit my dad for Xmas this year, but he left his physical body in September. I just remember how sad his face was on video call as he knew it was the end for him. 

Where do you find happiness despite your current situation?

I am happy to be able to give the stray cats in my neighborhood food. Today, I couldn't find two of them and became worried but they appeared later on in the day. Usually they come to the door or the window to ask for food. I also feed the wintering birds. I have to stock up on their favorite feeds tomorrow, mostly sunflower seeds.
