Today started okay...and then it was not.

Does anyone ever recover from ptsd?

or do they learn to just live with it.?

@zeetee17 There are infinite stories of people successfully coping with ptsd. There is lot of support available here on 7cups as well. Yes many of them learn to live with it but not in a burdensome way but in a way it doesn't affect living or enjoying their life anymore.

@zeetee17 hi, I'm not sure anyone really recovers from ptsd or any mental illness, but it does get easier to handle. Yes we do have to learn to live  alongside side it, it's hard but possible ❤ gives you a giant tiny hug ❤❤ it will get easier ❤ right here for you

@zeetee17 yes, I have learned to just live with it. Noises get to me the most, and it can affect my sleep.

@zeetee17 It can feel like a never ending battle when dealing with the fallout of trauma. Even though everyone has their own unique experience with pTSD, managing the condition can feel really draining. Over time you can get to a place where the symptoms of PTSD are not dominating every aspect of your functioning and move toward reclaiming a new version of you. The journey will be difficult and long, but with support and the guidance of professionals coping on a daily basis will again look possible.

@zeetee17

I suffered from mild ptsd symptoms few years ago. One thing helped me to drastically reduce my ptsd symptoms waa when I learned and practiced "sudarshan kriya " breathing excerise daily. I still regularly practice it. You can learn it any art of living centere near you. I practiced their guided Meditation too later.Regular Meditation also helps a lot.

I have even tried cranio sacral therapy. It also gave me deep relaxation.

If needed you can consult puls diagnosis from ayurvedic doctor and take suitable treatment suggested by them. It helped me a lot to gain calmness and regain my focus.

All these things helps to calm and relax our nervous system.

I can understand how it must be difficult for you to manage with it. So from my personal experience I can tell you there is hope.

Truth is, you learn to identify your "triggers" first.  You then work to eliminate them.

@zeetee17

I was just diagnosed with PTSD not too long ago. I found out that many of the things going wrong in my life, stem from these past experiences and my reaction to them. Part of the problem is that I am subconsciously reliving those traumas. In order for me to heal, I need to learn to love myself and stop needing validation from others. I should also avoid triggers but this is very difficult if they live with you.

@NotAllHere713

Hi, I hope you can improve.  Just I thought to tell you from my experience that mindfulness and self improvement have helped me a lot in dealing with PTSD and triggers.  I also have learned to reflect on myself and see myself as if from outside and try to learn how to react in better ways.  I don't say it's my fault or anyone's fault but I do think that we can revise ourselves and learn different ways of dealing with the situation than did not work previously.  It might take some effort or time though.  I also have found meditation helpful, especially since I still have the feeling of being lost, not knowing who I am and not feeling connected to anyone or anything.  I have realised that connecting to myself is perhaps the beginning...which I am trying to do.  Meditation seems to be the only method I have found so far for this...

Don't know if that helps, if not I hope you can find what helps you...

I have read that yoga is very effective for PTSD and can be just as good as medication.  In fact, sports and activities in general can help alot...I guess they help release negative energy
