Things to do to feel better

I often have a cynical attitude when it comes to things I hear to do to feel better. There may be something to it, though. I have being going through a "low.". I vacuumed my car yesterday and did a simple watercolor painting. I also cut one of the dog's nails. I am sure that does not sound like a lot to some people but I sincerely felt peace. My mind was quiet and I felt peace. I already started feeling better when I vacuumed my car. The little accomplishments are not so little to a lot of us. Let's celebrate them! To get out of bed, shower, brush my teeth, and get dressed when I have nowhere to be is an accomplishment to me. Let's celebrate ourselves!

Hi @Teianne✨ I fully agree with you: let’s celebrate ourselves! My measurement is not what “other think” but the peace that I find in whatever I’m doing…what makes me feel better, and I usually find it in the small achievements 😊✨ Thank you for sharing ✨🙏🏽✨

@Teianne ❤❤ trigger warning disabilities... I had both my legs amputated a few years ago, also missing some fingers now, so my days are kinda boring to most people. But not to me, I find fun in doing art and craft, sitting outside in the garden under the willow tree, worrying poems, playing with my guinea pigs ❤❤ it's the little joys in life that means the most ❤

@Teianne yep art has helped me so much😁 ❤ I have limited movement, my spine is not completely fixed, and with only half my fingers left, a few years ago I couldn't even hold a pencil, but I worked really hard with myself, and know I can do all sorts of art and craft 😁 I'd love to see your paintings if you ever wanna share ❤ here's the last two I did

@Teianne This is positive in the best way: due to real accomplishments, not on "affirmations". Kudos to you.

@Teianne I've found from a lifetime of anxiety that doing small "tasks" which I call "missions" help bring peace. If I'm feeling stressed I'll say to myself "Ok, here's your missions: Walk around the block, eat a small meal, feed your fish." It forces me to keep going, to keep busy and I forget just a little my stress. For some reason thinking a small think is an important mission gives it meaning, its no longer, eh I'll feed the fish cause I'm bored and stressed, now its like I have to feed these fish or they will die, this is a valuable task.

Thank you for that! I am on a mission to go get groceries. If I do not get food for myself, I do not eat. If I do not eat, I do not have the strength to do what I need to do. 😬

@Teianne Yes, way to go! Shoppings a mission, then eating it is one, they aren't annoying tasks their important things that must be done :)

@Teianne this reminds me of DBT skills like building mastery, accumulating the positives, and the ABC PLEASE skills. I can relate. It can be hard at times to find the motivation to do begin tasks, but I find that I feel better when I've accomplished something, even if it is small. I'm glad you found it helpful!

@Teianne

When something gives us peace and make us feel better, nothing is too little. Even the simplest, tiniest, most simple thing are worth doing and celebrating when it can impact us positively, even just slitghly. I like it that you don't seem to worry about what others think, or how it looks but focus more about how it makes you feel Because at the end of the day, that's what matter. Don't stop doing the little thing that matter and don't hesitate to celebrate them as well. Thank you for sharing. Maybe you don't realize but, you help people feel more appreciative for thel little things they do.
