A Poem for all my fellow Burnt Out Gifted Kids

...See more Wanderlost Scintillating eyes lost to the words' decay Once wandering through night and day Of untold stories and unspoken rhymes A lamp illuminating pages in the dimmest of times All for the words to shoot you down in spite You're the gift adulated by all, right? Yet those pristine eyes tell otherwise They're blank and dead like your lies Promised honor, yet you fail to be gifted For all your potential went gone and wasted ... "You've done enough, exile me if you must For my soul will one day reclaim its wanderlust"

What are 3 Good Things that Happened in the Past 24 Hours?
Positivity & Gratitude / by fireflyyv

...See more I would love to hear what 3 good things happened to you in the past 24 hours so we can appreciate them together! As simple or grand as they may be, they're worthy of being appreciated. Mine is: 1. I received good grades from a hard subject in school. 2. It wasn't as hot and humid as it was yesterday. 3. A stray cat approached me and was very friendly. Now let's hear about your good things!

A Blanket For The World: Empathy and Compassion
IDG 7 Cups Community Hub / by fireflyyv

...See more Empathy is defined as the ability to put yourself in the shoes of others and be able to view the situation and their feelings from their view. Meanwhile, compassion can be defined as a "sympathetic pity" for the difficult things that others may be going through. As simple as they may sound, these words are often lacking in certain people. Some see it as a weakness, because why would you feel sorry for something bad that didn't happen to you, right? However, this mindset can be a roadway to misery and isolation, as empathy and compassion are traits that connects us to other human beings. Though some people feel lower levels of empathy due to neurological reasons, what matters a lot is how people can approach the suffering of others through acts of mercy. It doesn't always have to be something that monumental or life-changing. Sometimes, all it takes is for someone to feel as if their woes are shared and understood by another living, breathing human being that is going through life like they are. "A problem shared is a problem halved" This cannot be stressed enough especially for advocates, listeners, and professionals in the realm of mental health. We must offer a safe space full of empathy and compassion to others for the world can be a dark place full of uncertainty. The least (and sometimes best) we could do is to provide comfort to these people.  For the reflection for this discussion, I would like to pose the question: "Do you believe in the kindness of strangers? Why?" This is to see if empathy and compassion is something that you believe strangers can provide to other people who they also see as strangers. It's also to reflect if you believe that these traits could be expressed by strangers in whatever scenario, as well as your optimism in humanity. Thanks for reading. Always remember to be kind not only to other people but to yourself as well.

A Glowing Tapestry In Our Minds: Creativity
IDG 7 Cups Community Hub / by fireflyyv
Last post

...See more Creativity does not have a positive reputation when it comes to progress building in a lot of conventional scenarios where logic and scientific inferences are more recognized. However, we sometimes become so logical that we tend to forget that creativity can be the root of good ideas. Not only does it help us achieve something that did not exist in our minds prior to our inception of the idea, but it can also play a more significant part of affecting our psychological well-being beyond what we can rationalize. Imagine you're in a dark place where the only company you have is a tapestry of your bright ideas. It sounds lonely, but somehow, it's the reality for some of us out there. Sometimes, people cannot be relied on because of circumstances that lead us to believe so. However, what if there was an outlet that could allow you to express yourself emotionally in your own art form? Whether it's paintings, poems, dancing, crafting, or any other form of art out there, we all have the freedom to express our creativity. Innovations do stem from creativity beyond what conventional sciences could do, but the beauty of creativity is how we're able to express ourselves and see our emotions, from the delightful to the darkest, become tangible art that we can feel with our senses.  Such an example would be from my own experience, where I pulled myself out of a dark time by learning how to express it through poetry. It's such a powerful weapon that you could own. And no matter how you express it, no one will be there to judge you as it's your form of art alone.  In order to reflect upon how creativity helped us during hard times, let's ask ourselves: "How did my creativity pull me out of a dark situation?" If you haven't used your own creativity, then let's think about the future and ask ourselves: "How can I use my own creativity to escape dark thoughts from my own mind?" Thanks for reading. I hope I was able to impart to you how important creativity can be both in thinking of ways out of a sticky situation, whether it be coming up of solutions or being an outlet for our feelings.
