The Butterfly Project is a way for self harmers to slowly ease their way out of the dangerous habit. Every time you want to injure yourself, you draw a butterfly on the area and name it after someone you know. That way in the future when you want to self harm again, you see the butterflies and remember why you shouldn't.

The butterfly project is a great thing! You simply draw a butterfly where you feel like cutting and give it a name and use pretty colors and make it so personal and beautiful that you can't stand to cut it!

The Butterfly Project was an experiment I had tried to stop cutting. It is where you, or someone else, will draw a butterfly on your wrist, or wherever you cut, and you cannot wipe it off. It must slowly disappear on it's own. If you cut, the butterfly dies. I drew them on my thighs so no one would see for fear of being judged. It really helped, I did this nearly nine months ago and I am clean today. I still have urges, so I draw a butterfly to keep me going.

The Butterfly Project, is a viral thing that is helping many people who are self harming, to go into recovery. To help many people, mainly teenagers, to be clean and stay strong. How it works; this movement works by a person drawing two butterflies, on whatever place you self harm. You name those butterflies after someone you love unconditionally, alive, or deceased, it won't matter. And if you self harm, both of them die. This project has helped me and many others. Stay strong, stay beautiful, we love you.
1. When you feel like you want to "do it", take a marker or a pen and draw a butterfly wherever "it" occurs.
2. Name the butterfly after a loved one, or someone that really wants you to get better.
3. NO scrubbing the butterfly off!
4. If you "do it" before the butterfly is gone, it dies. If you don't "do it", it lives.
5. Another person may draw them on you. These butterflies are extra special; take good care of them.
6. Even if you don’t "do it", feel free to draw a butterfly anyway, to show your support.
The butterfly project is a way for people who deal with self harm to try and stop. It can involve only yourself, or your friends and family as well. When you feel the need to self harm, you, or someone you care about, draws a butterfly on your hand or arm. It is now your responsibility to take care of that butterfly. And if you self harm, the the butterfly dies. It's a way to show those that self harm that they are not alone, and that people care for them, and are there to help them. It also shows the physical opposite of self harm, instead of destroying, you are safeguarding life.
The Butterfly Project is a helpful technique to stop self harming. The idea is that when you want to cut/harm yourself in some way, you draw a butterfly on your arm or wrist. You name the butterfly after someone you love, and don't wash it off. As long as you don't cut, the butterfly 'lives'. If you do harm yourself, the butterfly 'dies' and you wash it off. Someone else can draw a butterfly on for you, and these ones are extra special. Non self-harmers can draw a butterfly on to show support for those struggling with self harm :)

Its an (amazing in my opinion) project where someone writes a butterly where you self harm and their name under it (or you can write a name) and the idea is, when you self harm the butterfly dies. So if you hurt yourself, those who are on your arm will die inside, but still have the will to live, while you're set free.
this project was started on tumblr to help self harmers stop hurting themselves. You basically draw a butterfly wherever you usually cut and name it after a loved one. If you are able to keep it on until it naturally fade away without cutting it, you have set the loved one free. If you cut while the butterfly is still there you have killed. Personally I found that it works better if the loved one actually draws the buttery themselves.

This is where you draw a butterfly on your skin where you want to self harm, and you can give it a special name. If you self harm you have to gently wash it away and this means the butterfly did not survive. If you dont self harm until the butterfly naturally fades this means it has survived and flown away. Its a really good way to teach you self care by caring for the butterfly . Stay strong xx

It is where whenever you feel the urge to self harm you draw a butterfly on the place you want to hurt in permanent marker, then you have to wait for it to fade, if you self harm whilst it's still there you have killed the butterfly.
The butterfly project is a project in which people who struggle with self harm or self injury draw a beautiful butterly on themselves when they feel they need to cut. Instead of cutting, they know that if they cut there, they will also cut the butterfly, so it discourages self harm or hitting / burning / bruising etc. Some people also wear necklaces and jewelry with butterflies on to symbolise their recovery through the struggles they have faced.
The butterfly project is mostly for people who cut..you or a friend draw a butterfly with a long lasting marker and your goal is to let the butterfly fade by itself and if you cut it..your butterfly dies..you can also name your butterfly after someone you love...so let your butterfly live
