Does everyone secretly despise LGBTs although many openly claim to accept and love it, including LGBT members and allies? Are there really people who see LGBT as of equal worth as heterosexuals?

I'm pretty sure there are! I'm straight and never once in my life had this crossed my mind, till you asked. :P I don't consider myself better or superior to the LGBT community. In fact they're pretty awesome! Of course there are few people that are secretly homophobic but show the opposite, but there are even more people that don't despise a person just because of their sexuality. :)

A lot of people do not see it as a part of their actual daily life, despite being aware of the LGBT communicty existing. That can make it really difficult between "knowing" they are equal, but feeling very uncertain and a little uneasy being around them, because it's a new und "weird" experience. It doesn't help that the way we are taught about and see in TV about sexuality and relationships is usually geared towards heterosexual dimension. That does not mean everyone secretly despises LGBT, although it can seem that way at first glance meeting people. There are many people who, after they get comfortable with different sexual orientations or similar, accept them as much as anyone else. And there are also many people who love them as much as anyone else.

No, there are many people who truly respect LGBTs, and see them as equal to heterosexuals. Our world is changing, and is becoming more tolerant as time goes by.

While I am a straight person myself, I find everyone, despite their gender, sexuality, or race to be equal. I don't understand why there are people out there who believe that because there are those who are willing to show who they truly are that they deserve to be treated with less respect. I see everyone as an equal, which can be hard at times for other people to comprehend because it goes both ways, but I believe that everyone deserves to be treated with kindness and respect to matter what. So, to answer the question, yes, there are really people who see LGBT as equals with heterosexuals. I mean, we are all human beings, why don't we all deserve to be treated like one?

NO!..to the first question and YES!...to the second!! I had the unique experience of practicing hair and makeup during beauty school on the first transgender woman anyone around me had heard of in 1984. Her grace and openness to answering questions to the rest of my beauty class taught me strength. Since then, my life has been full of people in the LGBTQ+ Community and every one of them never ceases to amaze me with beauty, grace. powerful personality and most of all, strength. So not only do I believe that group is of equal worth, I believe they are amazing. above and beyond!!

I personally do not know why anyone would consider LGBT folks as being of a different worth than heterosexuals, or what they would base that on. It's simply about who you love, and how can that be wrong or of less worth? I do not think everyone secretly despises LGBT folks. In fact, in the United States I would guess that most people are OK with LGBT folks. But it's the few that hate that make the news for hurting people. Folks who are OK with LGBT folks don't make the news because they are living in peace and harmony. As for people who secretly despise LGBT folks while claiming to love and accept them, I"m sure those people exist too. I would hope they are a minority. I know there are many people around me who work with and in the LGBT community and they are very serious allies who truly are accepting and are dedicating their careers to help. I hope this helps.

Well, I for one accept that the LGBTQ+ community is just as important as the heterosexual community so yes, there are people who actually genuinely care.

Yes. Personally I am heterosexual but I support the LGBT community whole heartedly, love is love no matter what. My own brother is transgender and I massively support him, it's really hard for him sometimes and he does face discrimination but he also has many friends who accept him for him too. So to answer your question, yes there are a lot of awful, phobic and prejudice people in this world but no, not all heterosexuals are bothered by the LGBT community. Saying that all heterosexuals secretly despise the LGBT community is prejudice in its own right and not acceptable either. I'm sorry if you have experienced any form of discrimination though, nobody deserves that.

As someone who fully believes that people who are part of the LGBT community are of equal worth as all humans I can easily say that not everyone feels that way. It may seem over whelming that there is much hate out there for this community, but the fact is there will always be people who are scared about what they do not understand. You are not alone and never will be. The LGBT community is just as valid as the heterosexual community. We are all humans and our differences are what make us wonderful.

No, I see everyone on this earth as equal, no matter where they come from or what they look like. It sounds like you do not accept LGBTQ+. Everyone I have met that is gay or bi or anything I have accepted immediately. When my friend came out to me saying I was trans I hugged him and thanked him for telling me. Everyone on this earth is equal. One hundred years ago, if you were a person of color, you were not equal. Now, we have racism that still makes anyone of color seem unequal to people who do not have color. I hope you are able to see that just because you don't accept LGBTQ+ doesn't mean that no one does.

No, everyone does not secretly despise LGBTs. Some people think that they are of equal worth as any other human being. Maybe you have met the wrong set of people till now who claim to be open-minded but are not from inside... and it depends from person to person as well. But yes there are people who believe everyone is equal and deserves freedom in whatever they chose to be!

I feel people are hypocritical they claim to say they accept the LGBT community yet you see the same exact people using the word "gay" as an insult.

Everyone is victim to internalized homophobia perpetuated by the society that we're raised in. So yes, you will find hints of homophobia even in LGBT+ people and supposed allies. Most outspoken homophobes don't even realize they're being homophobic because, as stated, it's internalized, it's subconscious. It's something that all of us need to accept and learn to overcome. Everyone will have their moments, everyone will let something slip that rubs you the wrong way, but this doesn't make them inherently homophobic. Doing or saying homophobic things is entirely different from /being/ homophobic.

People are more likely to speak openly against a movement, so it may seem as if everything you see is against it, in this case the lgbt community. I am asexual, and online most thinks I see relating to asexuality is negative. Its important to know, that the lgbt community has come so far because of real people wanting rights for people who may not fit the norm for sexuality or gender, so there will be a lot of people who honestly don't despise the community. And even if it feels as if there those people don't exist, you can at least accept and validate yourself, because your outlook on your gender or sexuality is worth so much more to yourself than the opinion of others.

Well yes, there are people who genuinely care for LGBT+ and are very accepting. On the other hand, there are also LGBTs who despise themselves and everyone like them because that's just how they were raised

I don't think that everyone secretly despises LGBTs. At least I don't. I'm a proud ally and definitely see LGBT as of equal worth as us heterosexuals. Let people love who they love. It's not their fault who they're attracted to.

I can't speak for everyone but as an LGBT+ member I certainly don't despise others who identify as LGBT+. I see it more as another element to who they are, like you're heterosexual? Cool. You're homosexual? Cool. I don't believe that your worth is determined by who you happen to love, but rather by how you are as a person as a whole. Also, personally I care more about the happiness and fulfillment that people feel in their relationships rather than who they're in the relationship with. Besides, it's another diversity and another unique thing that people can bond over in cases and I think that's wonderful. :)

There are plenty who see LGBT members as equally worthy human beings. Although people may secretly think differently from what they say, some people are more honest in their opinions. I used to say that I despise the LGBT, in order to gain peer acceptance, but really I think they deserve equal rights as heterosexuals.

Of course. However the world has two sides and there will still be people who won’t see LGBT+ as equal as straight people. No matter what , LGBT+ still should be proud about their sexuality and embrace it. The hate and disrespect can turn into way of strength and pride of our diverse sexualities. In the end of the day love is love. And when you have love its easy to ignore those who does not accept you.To sum up,there are many people who see LGBT+ as equal as heterosexuality. But we also need to accept that there are also people who don’t and who never won’t see it equally.

In my opinion I wouldn’t say they despise them. As for me I kinda tolerate it I don’t necessary like it but in a way also don’t promote it. There may be people who say they like it but may secretly despise it but that’s kinda there decision too. I would consider people as people so wouldn’t really range it. Though people have other decisions on this so this question can be only be answered as an opinion since there isn’t really a fact that people accept it and those whose despise. Though I’m pretty sure there some kind of statistics that can help answer this.

I think most people see LGBT people as inferiors. They may be accepting them and loving them but they deep inside and without control feel that not being heterosexual is not normal is not natural or being with the LGBT community in general if anyone had the choice they would never choose their kid to be a member of the LGBT community some would choose to one of the LGBT cause they can see and feel how is it and they realize there is nothing wrong with it. But i believe there are some people who really deep deep inside them know and feel nothing they talk with other lgbt members normally and see nothing wrong with it they don't even think of it or talk about it cause they know it's normal. Like i suddenly told them i like blue they would not see anything wrong with it .because there isnt .

Of course there are! I am one without being in the community myself, I see no difference between who people love, everyone is a human and deserves to love who they can and want to. Just the same way it is with anyone of a different race. There are some mean people in this world who just won’t accept some people but we can all try our best to ignore them and hopefully live peacefully. All lives matter no matter the circumstances there are no ifs and buts to that. So everyone please stay strong, there are many allies who stand with you. ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜

I don't think people despise LGBTs, I think there is definitely some lack of information on who LGBTQAI+ people are and people tend to make assumptions on things they do not know. Many people know the community through media, through the image that is conveyed of them in our society and can't identify with them, which makes it harder to see people of this community as equal. If we would take measures to give more visibility to the queer community, straight people would realise that LGBTs are not defined by their sexual orientation and could identify more with them.

There are many people who claim to support the community but would not associate themselves with someone who is not heterosexual as they fear them. I myself have many friends who are this way. I see absolutely no reason in ostracizing them as they are after all, people just like me. If only everyone I knew saw them as people and not a stereotype.

There are those that truly accept and those that just bare with it. There are also those who just don't accept it. It is because we are living in a society that always went with there are either men or women there are no in between. So to accept the in between takes a whole change in culture in society and that is a big change.
