I am with you on this. I am a hugger and touchy person and I miss hugs and hugging too! We will get to hug our friends/ loved ones again soon. This is a temporary situation to keep us safe. Think how it will feel to hug once this is over. Close your eyes and go thru the motions, I bet you will get a smile on your face!

I was asking someone else what she will want to do first when stuff opens again ... when the outside of your own home is "safe" again. I meant like something big - oh I don't know a dinner party for 20 at fancy restaurant where they all wear their formal attire that they didn't get to wear for prom(canceled). Or rent out the bowling alley for open bowl from like 10pm til 2am and invite like everyone 100+ people at least.
I think perhaps you've nailed it on the head for me though. I might answer: 1. Be sure I have enough gas and 2. Drive around to my friends' houses or work place IN ORDER TO like for zero other reason than to give friend/family, most favorite gas station attendant or grocery cashier (although I don't think I have one of those) -- to give each one a hug! a real hug. a "I've missed you! for it's been long and longer" hug. <3 Platy
I could use a hug or seven. I could use a shoulder or lap to rest my head on. I am very tired and yet this something wants to keep me from sleeping. Part of PTSD maybe. ~ Platy
Plus I could really use some physical contact - person to person!

I hear you and feel you, I feel the same way. Tell yourself that this is a temporary situation and we will be able to hug everyone we love very soon. We need to keep ourselves safe to get to that point.❤
@Teresa416 - Yes - big sad face. We do need to keep ourselves (and others!) safe until "It's Safe" again. The hardest part for me, I think, is the waiting ..... and the unknown - when shall this craziness of not being able to hug people - even my family? when shall this end???? Do I have to wait 'til Christmas!?
I have just found a second way though ... The first is a coupon for "Free Hug" (never expires, I think it may also say 'reusable') that I found here at 7cups somewhere. The second I've sort of just come up with now. It's a graphic of a little bear giving himself a hug. It says, "A great big hug!" I can fit nine on one page. I shall print maybe just one page first. Then cut them apart and probably glue to a 3x5 or 4x6 index card. On the reverse, I'll write 'From me To you' or the person's name if I know who I want to give it to.
So, yes, @Teresa, stay healthy, stay home, hug not thy dear friends :P , and yes sometime "soon" this will all be but a distant memory. (For me, I'd like that soon to be VERY short!) <3 Platy

I know it's not the same as physical contact, but hugging a stuffed animal, especially when I'm falling asleep, helps me.
@lovingBanana5204 - You are right, it's not the same feeling, but it does seem to help somehow. There have been a couple times that I will bring "all" stuffed ones to bed for comfort and sleeping. That would be at least 4, maybe 5. E.B. is not tucked in with the covers turned down as I do sometimes. But he rests and waits very patiently (and very quietly! but then he IS a rabbit haha) for me to come and "get thyself to bed, Platy!" ... "Like now! I mean it!" (sigh) I feel lots tired again now, but guess what? I got a true, "I love you and I want you to be okay" hug in person today. My friendC ... I'm unsure if she knows how much her hugs have meant to me, in the last 3-ish months. I love you too, dear friend! Thank you for your words of support @Banana. I hear you loud and clear! I am a hugger and feel the loss every week that goes by. I try to use my words (it doesn't make up for an actual hug but it helps) and let my friends, family, etc....that I care for them and tell them to stay safe!
