What happens if I follow someone or if someone follows me?

When you follow someone, any posts they write in their feed in future will also appear in your feed.

Can people search for threads or forums or feeds or anything which I've written by using my username?

What do they automatically see if they look at my profile and if someone follows me will they see old posts of mine ?

Yes, forums and feeds are public and anyone can search for them.
