Feel lost

User Profile: wjglory

Hey everyone I just joined yesterday I am dealing with severe depression and I feel lost.  Friends don't seem to care and family doesn't understand.  I love to write and that, along with walking, are the only thing I seem to enjoy doing,  I was a gamer but I don't feel like playing anything.  I am just looking to chat with other writers and gamers that are depressed and perhaps we can pull each other out of the hole.

@wjglory I completely understand how you feel. I'm sorry you're going through this. Being depressed and isolated feels like you're on your own island with a constant grey cloud surrounding you.

What do you write about? Fiction or Non-fiction?

@Mezmer I have two books published, both about vampires.  I am working on a book based on the last company I worked for.

@wjglory 2 published books is an incredible accomplishment, congratulations! What are the titles? Are these Ann Rice vampires, Blade, Vampires, Underworld vampires, Twilight vampires? Or did you create your own take on them? Vampires are a timeless subject.

@wjglory

I love supernatural movies and books! Vampires are my fav :3

@wjglory Thank you for sharing your story. We all have to struggle sometimes to enjoy some new things. I love that you hava a dog. They are the sweetest beigns.

As a writer you may enjoy chatting as a listener better? I find it really hard somethimes

@gentleLight5432 My dog and my writing are what keep me going.  I have spoken to a listener and it helped plus many people on here and very helpful and caring, more so than the people I thought were friends.

@cyanPear2629 Thank you Cyan for your response.  I seem to be doing better I am keeping myself occupied with walking and writing.  May I ask what helped you overcome your depression?

@wjglory

Medication, cognitive behavioral therapy especially reframing my thoughts on paper to be a little more kinder yet realistic.  Time spent outside.  Walking, yoga, tai chi, talking with famiky or friends.  Getting out of house, music, JOURNALING.  Recognizing which stinking thinking cognitive distortion I was doing ... there is a list and then challenging it or following the advice of how to change the distorted thought.  Your thoughts are like a keyboard to your brain.  Tell it some th ing kinder.  Read Helmstetters book - What to say when you talk to yourself

Hello,

I delt with severe depression during all year 2021. Loveliness was awful. Still today, I have kept wounds from this suffering period. That's why I could tell, with modesty, I can understand what you're going through.

Be sure you're not alone. Friends go away, family doesn't understand: alas, it's part of the sickness. It's part of the "game". But it doesn't mean you're all alone. All around the world, severe depressions ravage old and young souls, for reasons no one could really understand, because each of them is unique, since it is part of the person herself. That is, we all suffer : it is part of our human brotherhood.

So, I think there are as much solutions than there are people : an infinity.

Be sure you'll fine yours. It's just a matter of time. Let the time do its work. And when everything will be clear, you will understand so much better how the world is beautiful and the meaning of life !

Don't stop writing. Everything is important. Don't correct. Just write. Fluently, without thinking. Words can light you without knowing how.

As Renaud (a French singer) sang :

Ça vous libère de tous les maux

ça vous libère de tout, les mots.

C'est un don du ciel, une grâce

Qui rend la vie moins dégueulasse

Qui vous assigne une place

Plus près des anges que des angoisses.

Yours, sincerely.

@Nevermore1985

Thank you for your response.  Writing is what keeps me going I make it a point to write before I go to bed.  Lonliness is the real problem especially when I do finish my book and have nobody to share it with.

@Nevermore1985 I am writing based on my experience at my last job, that kind of lead to my depression I was badly mistreated there and involved in a relationship where I was physically and mentally abused.

Absolutely agree.  When you are down and have nobody to go to, that amplifies the depression.  I'm just glad I found 7 Cups so I can speak to others that understand.

@wjglory Hey mate, welcome to 7 Cups! We'll be here for you :)

I usually play FPS games on PC like CS2, Valorant, and R6 that are not too good for my sanity. However, I do play a handful of single-player games like RDR2, The Witcher 3, Cyberpunk 2077, and God of War: Ragnarok.

Hit me your anytime if you want to talk!

@NebulaJoker Having no support is the worse thing, depression is bad as is but being alone amplifies it.  Luckily there are people on there that care and listen.  I'm hoping today is a good day for you.

Not a great day today dealt with arthritis and a two faced "friend" I am not trying to let it get to me, I am in the middle of my writing but it's sad when people say one thing to you and criticize someone then turn around and praise them.
