...See more Hi everyone, I hope you are doing well. This post is about - 7 Cups Compassion Course [https://www.7cups.com/forum/KitchenTable_133/SelfhelplearningwithLaura_743/7CUPSCOMPASSIONCOURSE_6809/1/] which was created by Laura. The course is for members only. Not for listeners! The goal of this course is to understand and know the basics of practicing compassion and help & support our members to have a compassionate experience in the group support chat rooms. This course allows you to foster healthy conversations and connections as well as be a compassionate, loving, supportive, and amazing member of the chat rooms and the community. Who can participate? Any member can take this quiz. Even if you are an experienced member, then also welcome to take part in it. Because we are all learning and practicing compassion. How can a member participate? * Once you have completed the course, please let us know in the comments of this post. * Also, tag any 3 members you know to invite them to take the quiz as well. * Your responses to the course will be graded and if you successfully passed it, you will receive, “Compassion Hero” badge. * If you didn’t pass, that’s okay. Feedback will be shared and then you can retake the course. Please remember that this course is designed to help you practice compassion and empathy for yourself and others. Because it is kindness that makes any place a better place to live in. Also, it will make you feel more comfortable, and well equipped to participate and be a wonderful participant in the group support chat rooms and forums. If you have any feedback to improve the course or any other ideas, please let us know in the comments of this thread. On that note, I invite you to take the compassion course here: https://tinyurl.com/4us8x8ue A big thank you to @vivelespatates for single-handedly managing this initiative for all these years! ------------------------- Edit: by ASilentObserver on 04/06/2022

Calling All Verified Listeners: Help Wanted on the 7 Cups Welcome Committee!
by Heather225
Last post
December 2nd, 2024
...See more The hardest part of the journey is sometimes the beginning, and this is especially true of our newbies. We as a community have the power and ability to ensure they get properly oriented and supported so that their journey is smooth. I have been actively contacting newbies over the past couple of months and the results have been inspiring. Roughly 80% of those I sent a personal message responded to me and very appreciatively! That's a really big deal because those people have a much higher chance of being retained (retained = staying on 7 Cups). But I need help! So it's with great excitement, that I announce the revamped relaunch of the Welcome Committee! Through this initiative, we can meet our newcomers at the start with a friendly welcome (think hospitality, a greeter, etc.). We will also provide guidance and resources they need to navigate their first steps. The tasks are simple. PMing brand new members off a list, saying hi, giving resources, answering their questions and sending follow-up PMs to make sure their transition is complete. There's a few requirements to be qualify to be a Welcomer: Requirements: ✔ You must be a Verified Listener (find out how to get verified here) [https://www.7cups.com/forum/listenerjourney/ListenerVerificationProject_1839/GetVerifiedon7Cups_290064/] ✔ No behavior reports (BPS) within 3 months ✔ Maintenance criteria: 2-3 hours a month to dedicate to this project ✔ Comfortable PMing ✔ Familiarity with Google dashboards and sheets ✔ Note: The team uses spreadsheets to copy/paste names and log PMs so you'll need access to a computer/laptop device. This work can't be done via phone. We apologize for the inconvenience! The monthly quota: Adults: Welcome 30 members (60 messages sent including first PM & followup) Teens: Welcome 15 members (30 messages sent including first PM & followup) You can make a huge difference in our community's growth by joining us. I look forward to building this team with you! >>> Apply here! ...See more Our member community is thriving! Now that we have our group support chat rooms, our members are able to interact and support each other in new and dynamic ways. You all have done a wonderful job adjusting to these chat rooms and supporting one another. As a member of the 7 Cups community, you are all here for a variety of specific reasons. But one thing we all have in common is our love of the 7 Cups community. Our community is a safe haven, a place to find connection, compassion [https://www.7cups.com/forum/Resources_29/MemberCommunityGrowth_200/MEMBERCOMPASSIONCOURSE_6809/], love, and support. Our community is only as strong as it's members. We ask each member to agree to these community guidelines [http://www.7cups.com/forum/Welcometothe7CupsofTeaForum_27/RulesofEngagement_27/RulesofEngagement_62/1] and interact in ways that reflect these guidelines and the 7 Cups values. [http://www.7cups.com/about/values.php] Today, I would like all members of 7 Cups of Tea to take ownership of their home here. To show your commitment, we ask that you take the 7 Cups member oath. By completing this oath, you are promising to show kindness and support to all those you interact with here. It could be in the forums, with a listener in a 1-1 chat or in the group support chat rooms. Below this post, type out your member oath. You could cut and paste it, but I feel like this takes away from it. Typing it helps you really think through what you are committing to. Next, at the bottom, sign in with your username like this: I, ___________________, pledge a moral oath before my fellow community members, making them my witnesses, that I read and understood the community guidelines and ensure its compliance during my stay at 7Cups. I will treat my fellow members and listeners with compassion, patience, open-mindedness, and being non-judgmental. I will stay respectful of everyone I encounter in the community. I understand as a community we are here to provide and seek support. I will be thoughtful and compassionate in my conversations. I will use the proper channels to escalate any concerns facing during my stay in the community. I will be open to learning from others and sharing my experiences and learning with them to grow as a community together. I will take ownership of my own behavior in the community and understand how I will react to any situation that is my choice. I will follow the community guidelines and support each other in building the community better for everyone. Signed: //LauraS// Date: 11/9/2014 NOTE: Eventually, we will be able to give a badge to all those who take this pledge. The badge will come, as long as you post in this thread, you will earn it! Words can hurt🤕

...See more Hi, Recently, one of my parents told me that if I'm going to their parents house, my doors should be open and accessable at all times, or else I am just a burden to them. These words cut me deep. I was suicidal and ended up in the hospital once, and the following year I was SA'ed by a relative in a foreign country. I was indoctrinated, manipulated and in the end came to stay in my home country.  They hope to get me married to someone by 2027 after my graduation. They want me to have kids (many in fact to keep the population index smh)and be able to take care of a family, have a career and be independent. Everyone knows what happened, but they think it's a band aid. They just forgave the relative (except my mom) and told me to move on. No case was filed.  I told myself that I should just accept this outcome and move on. That it's better to concentrate on my healing, but I don't where to start, when one of my parents (ok, it's my mom) told me those words. I didn't know what to say. I didn't want to yell, but my mind was bursting so I had tears in my eyes and she told me "Your reactions are not normal, you neither have compassion nor a sense of responsibility. If I was talking to my parents I would reassure them that I will do everything to make it easier for them, but no, you are just silent and mute. You can't shut people off, and we are the only ones who will help you, no one in the world would even care what happens to you. When we are gone how will you be able to take care of yourself?"  How should I take this? I feel tired and upset .
