Best Sci Movie/Book/TV art..

DaveMcGrath March 23rd, 2020

I'm a traditional sort of guy when it comes to these things.

I still remember seeing the later two movies in Theater with my dad and brother. 5 years old, looking up at that big screen.. that was a movie-going experience.

What's your choice for movie poster/book cover/tv art sort of thing?

@PeaceLoveandPaws

One of those many occasions where the book was better than the movie.

Battlestar is just so good...

visually speaking that is bang on, they did really well with the new series in terms of the graphics. I was really worried they were going to present the Galatica as a polished smooth version of the ship as they tend to do with many Sci Fi franchises. Instead it was an updated version but still kept to that character of the ship always being one step away from falling apart.

I wasn't too thrilled with some of the storyline departures from the OG BSG, but overall it was decent and enjoyable television. No sense in letting my grumpiness about how they played around with the canon get between that and having fun with the new series.

I will say that odd arc where they had a number of them stationed on what I believe is a converted sewer ship was really good. Really shows just how desperate the colonials were to move the needle so to speak.

I loved the second story arc where they had to move every 30 odd minutes. Very dramatic and an excellent illustration of how ragged and bedraggled the entire fleet was. Sadly I never saw the original so the re-make is my original BSG, which is probably why I love it so much.

The main reason I mentioned the show wasn't the poster. I love the visual design of the entire show. From the small things, like how all the paper is clipped on all 4 corners, so the low-tech industrial nature of the last battlestar that never got upgraded.

On a somewhat related note, I just found a huge stash of my TNG comics from my childhood! I think it's time for a re-read!

Great movie! This was one of my childhood favourites. This, the Dark Crystal, Breakfast Club, Princess Bride, one about a pony I can't recall the title of...

Thank you for the nostalgia trip!

This movie series will always ((probably)) be my favorite sci-fi anything. I was really young when my grandma basically just forgot how traumatic these movies were for her as a kid πŸ˜‚ But me & my brother instantly fell in love with them and were barely phased

I'm a fan of that recent Predator film where they dropped that group of humans on an alien planet and they woke up whilst skydiving down to the surface. Can't quite remember then name of the film right off the top of y head.

My parents let my brother rent all the Nightmare on Elm Street movies and probably contributed greatly to my loathing of horror films to this day.

There is also this one that hangs in the background of a LOT of TV shows. I think because it's from 1927 and probably in the public domain. It is also very cool looking! I've never seen the movie though.
