Spooky Season

Bndonovan02 September 21st, 2023

Who here marathons horror movies during this Spookiest of Seasons!? I have so many movies I start in September and I always start with the Nightmare on Elm Street movies because they are my favorite!

Do you have a movie you kick the season off with?

What’s your must-see movie of the season?

@Bndonovan02 Hello there! I must admit, I'm not much into horror movies, but I can totally understand the appeal. Starting with the Nightmare on Elm Street movies sounds like a tradition that sets the mood just right!

As for me, I like to kick off the season with something a bit less spooky, like watching Twilight! It's a fun way for me to embrace the autumn vibes.

Enjoy your spooky movie marathons, and I hope you have a fantastic fall! 🎃

ooOo i love this topic! :D im a huge scary movie fan! Last year we binge watched the Michael Myers marathon. This year… I’m thinking maybe the Conjuring. We watched The Nun 2 last weekend as the official kick off to the Halloween season. :)

LOVE the Conjuring Universe!! The only one I haven’t seen is the Curse of La Llorona. My family got me an Annabelle doll this year for my birthday!

La Llorna is an urban legend story that I’ve heard so it was a treat to watch it in a movie. Because the story has been passed down from generations, it makes it a must see. But don’t get your hopes up because it’s not on the same level as Conjuring or Annabelle. Id recommend if you haven’t seen it — The Nun and The Nun 2 are pretty good.

@Bndonovan02

I LOVE, LOVE LOVE HORROR MOVIES!!

I don’t have anything I typically start the season off with (Nor do I use this time of year strictly to watch them since Scary movies are great anytime)!… However I’m “old skool” and I love the “Classics”.

Friday the 13th, Pet Semetary, Halloween, Prom Night, Carrie, Happy Birthday to me…etc…etc…

The only thing I find now is that when I watch newer Horror movies of today is that they aren’t scary enough for me. It’s become all “Psychological” nowadays. I don’t like to “think” about the horror movie I’m watching. Just give me a Great Ghost story or a good $lasher Flick!

I’m a fan of the classics as well. The newer movies don’t scare like they used to. If you haven’t watched the Fear Street series on Netflix, I recommend that. I decided to try it, and ended up binge watching all the movies!

What do you think of the Saw series? I had to stop at Saw 3 because I realized I couldn't handle the gore.

I like gore just for the sake of gore sometimes, but I got bored with them after a few. The first one was good.

@bndonovan02 @PoliteOcean

what would you say is a “hidden gem” of a scary movie? One that most don’t watch or consider but ends up being really good.

Oooo. Ghost Ship is one. It’s a mainstream one and has Karl Urban in it, but most people I know haven’t seen it. Outpost is another lesser known one. Oh, The Autopsy of Jane Doe!!!!!

Aww Ghost Ship was pretty good. Watched that one a couple of times.

Still need to check out the Autopsy of Jane Doe but seen mixed reviews.

@Bndonovan02 I never watched Horror movies if I did I would only watch something classic like Hitchock's "Pysco" or "Rear Window" and maybe Vertio but not something like The Shinning or Child's Play or I think its called "The Coujring"? But despite not watching horror movies I can name almost every single Halloween -related characters from a Yotube production from 2020 for Halloween and its complete with a homage to Michel Jackson's "Thriller" Dance (of course, the whole orgional song could be consider a tribute to Thiller itself) https://youtu.be/g5aDEwq-DJA?si=N13g1eZgl7aNqTE0

Mike Myers/Jason Vanheer??

Gremlins

Screamface

Beatlejuice

Uncle Fester, Cousin It, and "The Thing"

Sandron Sisters

Chucky

Elivra

girl from The Ring

Slimer from Ghostbusters

Dracula

Frakenstien/Bride of Frakenstien

the author from The Shinking who goes ax-crazy

nun from some movie.

Freddy Kruger

are the names I can list off right off the bat

I'm doing a bunch of Disney movies right now I stared in the late 30s (Snow White) and I'm on 1959 Shaggy Dog a comedy-but I know when I get to the 1980s that wouldn't be for awhile there will be two scary movies (The Great Mouse Dective and the even scarier The Black Cauldron).

@Bndonovan02 I do this! We just started a few nights ago with the movie Trick 'r' Treat because my fiancé had never seen it before. I love Halloween time so much :)

@Bndonovan02 I marathon horror movies and shows with my brother, sister, and cousin year round whenever we can. We usually watch a lot of zombie movies and ghost movies and usually ones we're not supposed to watch 😅 but those ones are better 😂

pointseven October 3rd, 2023

@Bndonovan02 I don't watch scary movies, can't sleep after. But I do like scary anime, its more comedic then. Can always watch old classics. The headless horseman or the nightmare on elm street. Or if you reallybwanna scare yourself watch the original grude(japanese version)

@Bndonovan02 Spooky Season is my favorite time of year! My kids love it too and so we kick-off and end Spooky Season with a movie night - either Nightmare Before Christmas or Hocus Pocus as per family tradition. And then every night after the kids go to bed, my husband and I will watch scary movies - whatever is on or streaming. He hasn't seen many of the classics, so I try to sprinkle those in as we go. For the oldies but goodies: The Shining, It, Halloween, Nightmare on Elm Street, Friday the 13th, and The Exorcist, etc. And for some of the newer collections: The Conjuring, The Nun, Insidious, Annabelle, etc. Too many to list!
