Will the real Gilbird please stand up?
Hello! My name is Gilbird.
🍬 Who am I? I'm Gilbird and I am an engineer. I work to build non-invasive and accessible patient-centered healthcare technology, primarily using automatic control and signal processing techniques.
🍬 Why am I here? I used to struggle for many years with periods of depression, anxiety, and insomnia (among other things). My symptoms manifested physically to the point at which I could not distinguish what was actually wrong, but I felt so tired and frustrated all the time. It took me years to realize that all of these episodes were due to long-term PTSD and c-PTSD. The recovery process was difficult, but I have come a long way! (Thank you: exercise, somatic breathing techniques 🌱, and positive self-talk)
Trauma-informed care is an issue close to my heart and the healing process looks different for everyone. I am here to spread the word about trauma-informed care, learn from everyone, and ensure we have a safe space to share our thoughts. (:
🍬 Who am I on 7 Cups? Some of you may know me as the host for Sunday Open Discussions in the Trauma Support community. Others may have seen me in other places around 7 Cups. I have been a listener for a while now, but I started branching out into Group Support in early 2022 since I wanted to connect with more people, share my experiences, and learn from others' experiences.
🍬 Going Forwards: I have truly enjoyed my time hosting discussions so far and am very thankful to all members and listeners in the Trauma community for being so brave in sharing their experiences, warmly welcoming new members, and being so focused and on-topic during discussions.
I look forward to getting to know more of you!
🍬 Where to find me:
🌸 I host Sunday Open Discussions (3 times a month) and am planning to host our Grounding and Somatic Exercise Session 🌱.
🌸 Please feel free to drop by my PM's to say Hello!
@Gilbird
One more thing! I am American 🇺🇸
@Gilbird hi thankyou for leading the discussion s ❤❤ I think by that times in UK I'm asleep. I am from America but it was not safe there for me, so I was moved to the uk when I was 18years old. Life is great for me over here now ❤ thanks for sharing about yourself ❤ gives you a giant tiny hug ❤
@Tinywhisper11
Hi, Tiny! Thank you for your kind words and I am so glad you are now safe. You deserve all of the nice things in the world.
And thank you for letting me know about the timing issue! I will keep that in mind when scheduling the Grounding and Somatic Exercise sessions. Perhaps 11 AM ET would be a better time for those in the UK?
