Traumatic Experiences Community Daily Check-in Wednesday 7th February 2018

TheHoneyDoll February 7th, 2018

Good morning everyone! heart

Yesterday while I was in accounting, I overheard someone who said that they never have time to eat breakfast and I reflected on that and noticed that I also rarely eat breakfast. Breakfast can set your day off right with a good cup of tea and maybe some eggs, toast, or even a yummy orange and a cinnamon roll however, with our busy schedules, many of us neglect this meal. I always rush to class and forget to grab something to eat or a bottle of water and only take my medications. On weekends, I'm in a rush to therapy and friend's houses and study sessions or to watch a movie (I'm a scifi and horror nerd). So this leaves me with my questions for all of you today:

1. What is your favorite kind of breakfast?

2. Do you eat breakfast daily? If not, how could you try to squeeze it in?

and

3. How is your day going? heart smiley

I can't wait to hear from everyone today! Hope your day is pleasant!

1. What is your favorite kind of breakfast?

eeek - latley, I am having trouble eating.

Been fasting :( Which is not good because im totally not in recovery for my eating disorder now.

But - when I am on the meal plan - my fav breakfast:

yogurt, starfruit and a slice of cinnamon raisn bread.

2. Do you eat breakfast daily? If not, how could you try to squeeze it in?

Again, when in my recovery meal plan - I eat breaskfast every day ( and I actually feel better).

3. How is your day going? heart smiley

Eh, my day is not great - but : I have wonderful plans tonight! Going to the opera downtown tonight ! Get to dress up , hear and see a wonderful preformance and be downtown ( which I love).

Struggleing with the eating/weighing all the time thing ...and have been "zoning out a lot" latley - so hoping none of that happens for me today...especially when I am out.

Trying to use mindfulness today to stay present and enjoy the day/evening.

Imaginativa2930 February 7th, 2018

@TheHoneyDoll I like this questions!

1. What is your favorite kind of breakfast?

I have two favorite kinds of breakfast. French toasts with maple syrup and nutella, also strawberries (if I have all), a slice of jam and choco milk. (Almost never the slice of jam but I should). The second it's pancakes with maple syrup and arequipe with egg tortilla and chico milk or hot chocolate.

2. Do you eat breakfast daily? If not, how could you try to squeeze it in?

I don't always eat breakfast but I should for recovery of eating disorder. I try eating little by little as breakfast it's still a hard thing for me.

3. How is your day going? heart smiley

Goooood cause this was fun^^

Have a good day

Love pancakes and maple syrup too! Good to have you here with us and to hear that you are eating little by little. Have a good day! x

purpleWest8143 February 7th, 2018

@Imaginativa2930 yes! French toast is right up on my list too ❤️ eating breakfast every day was also such a struggle for me. It was almost like my stomach was still asleep in the morning, but so important for brain function among other things. This was why smoothies worked so well for me for early mornings 😉

My favourite breakfast is hands down eggs Benedicts!! ❤️❤️❤️ but our family switched to a strict auto immune diet over a year ago to manage health issues so they are now a no go 😢

My current breakfast of choice is usually

3 scrambled eggs and a whole avacado.

When I was working I would normally

have a smoothy for breakfast as I found my stomach too sluggish for anything else that early and would pack snacks to have again around 9 am. The othe thing I liked on work days was chia puddings which I would prepare the night before and put in the fridge overnight using chia seeds, coconut milk and spices to make a chai flavour - so delicious!

Today is going pretty good so far. I have a meeting with my daughters therapist and Im looking forward to it. I had a great sleep last night and a good video call with a potential roommate.

Yesterday was a super long day for me and I had a lot of emotional processing. I met with a good friend and we talked about a lot of heavy stuff for both of us. It brought up some flooding for me but I was able to sit with it, accept it for what it was and it passed. This was good as I often tried to push these feelings away in the past and was detached. My friend was super supportive and compassionate and he reminded that even though these past experiences were so horrible they are going to allow me to have a strength and understanding in helping others as he knows ultimately I want to be giving back somehow when Im able to again.

@Imaginativa2930 I still cheat once in a blue moon but end up with a headache and runny nose. Id say its worth it to enjoy a good eggs benny once in a while 😉.

Thank you for the supportive words! ❤️

Think this is a really good topic thank you, and reminds us that having breakfast does make for a better start to the day. I'm kiwi and kiwi kids are brought up on weetbix. So its always weetbix and muesli with fruit and yoghurt. And happy to be here with you. x

@TheHoneyDoll

My eating tends to be a bit sporadic, but I usually have milky tea or coffee in the morning, along with a muli-vitamin and mineral and a couple flaxseed oil caspules.

I've had a very difficult, tireing day. To start with I didn't managed to get any sleep. However I did get some productive things done today, unlike most days. So that was good. I'm a carer, and we had some people in to do a deep clean. They were lovely and did a great job, but it left me nackered.

I also called and spoke to my G.P. who was helpful. He said he would immeditely start sorting things out so that I could go get the trauma-focused CBT that my pychatrist had recommeded months ago. I had been discharged after only missing one appointment, and when I had called to re-arrange it I couldn't get through to them on my phone. After which I receive a letter discharging me. The doctor was nice though, and said he was not supprised because these things happen more often than you'd expect, and I'd done nothing wrong. He said he'd write them today to ask them to see me as soon as possible. So hopefully that will all go well and help me, although I feel somewhat ambivalent.

@resourcefulPond1641 oh it sounds like you have a really supportive GP! Im hopeful for you that your GPs request will help you get back into CBT and if it isnt successful it def sounds like your GP has your back and is an advocate for you which means he/ she may be able to help you access another appropriate resource as well 😉

1. What is your favorite kind of breakfast?

I love most

217 February 8th, 2018

@TheHoneyDoll

My favorite breakfast is a chorizo and egg taquito or a smoothie.

I rarely eat breakfast, but I should start waking up in the morning instead of the afternoon. It wouldn't take too much effort to make a smoothie each morning and it would definitely make my days better.

My day started off rough, but I made a friend tonight so I am glad about that.

MelanieDaniels63 February 8th, 2018

@TheHoneyDoll My fave breakfast is Bacon,eggs, toast or a bacon, egg and cheese breakfast sandwich with salt,pepper, ketchup on a plain bagel(Yummm) Homemade or from Dunkin Donuts(a donut shop for you guys that don't know of it). For drink juice orange, apple etc...Coffee plain with lots of milk and sugar(light color) homemade or from Dunkin's(I like it more when I make it and saves money). Dunkin's is a treat every now and then, no I do not eat breakfast everyday sometimes I wake up late in the day or miss it because I have to run to a doctor's appointment or go to the hospital or when i used to work before I left due to illness, so I tell myself I will get something out or when I get home. i think to fit breakfast in you can wake up a bit before you would everyday or get something out/on the go. What I do sometimes is I have a Boost shake(protein weight gain shake) they taste like real shakes(there good) and have a lot of vitamins etc...in them they are a bit pricey but worth it if you need a little something extra, my day/night has been alright, hope everybody is well !
