@Alex55555 Interesting. Thank you for the link.

Conclusion: In this statewide [Arizona] analysis, we found that EMTs had a significantly higher Mortality Odds Ratio due to suicide compared to non-EMTs. Further research is necessary to identify the underlying causes of suicide among EMTs and to develop effective prevention strategies.

That makes it sound like there are no effective prevention strategies—scary if true.

Maybe worth mentioning Safe Call Now in this context:

Safe Call Now is a CONFIDENTIAL, comprehensive, 24-hour crisis referral service for all public safety employees, all emergency services personnel and their family members nationwide [in the US]. 206-459-3020

@RarelyCharlie

What we are trying to prove here is that we need to be able to talk about the things that we see just as much as someone who's working retail, is in a bad relationship, anything and need a space to avoid triggering others with our bad calls stories, and trauma.

@RarelyCharlie It is scary, mental health for people in these types of professions is so often overlooked. It can be really difficult to seek support, and sometimes when people reach out they find they are only scoffed at, told the job isn't right for them, or just find nobody there to help them.

Hopefully this space on cups will play a tiny part in lifting the weight for some people who are struggling. If we even just help one person a little bit, we are doing something right and worthwhile here!
