Health Benefits of Nurturing Plants at Home
Hi everyone,
I hope you are all well. I was thinking about how I often share with my clients that they must remember in order to grow they need the right conditions just like a plant, enough water, sun and nurturing. They also need to remember that every time they water their own plants in their home that they should be also tending to their own garden and checking-in with themselves on how they can care for themselves.
Did you know that having plants in your home comes with health benefits? Pretty cool, right?! :) You can learn more about them below.
Plants reduce stress and make you feel happier
Studies have shown that plants help you to feel happier, more grateful and healthier and it can even help if you have a space in your home to own a plant or even bring one to the office. Plants have been known to reduce stress, anxiety and fatigue.
Plants can make you feel better!
Certain plants have been found to help you cope with having allergies. Pretty remarkable! Plants can also help you feel better from common colds too.
Plants add a natural and beautiful aesthetic to any room
One of my favourite things about plants is that they can brighten up any room and make it feel more brighter and natural. It can add a nice touch to just about any room!
Plants purify the air you breathe in
As we know, plants help us breathe in healthier oxygen which is incredible! They help to purify the air and remove toxins.
If you are a big plant fan like me, please show us some pictures of your plants or if you do not have any yet, perhaps you can share with us your favourite plant?
@LisaMeighanMBPsS I love growing things!
These are Blue Wonder toad lilies
@mytwistedsoul Another color variation.
@mytwistedsoul
Wow, so so beautiful!
@amiablePeace77 Thank you! They're my favorite.
@mytwistedsoul
Wow, they are SO beautiful! What kind of plant is this? They look so delicate, I love them. Are they hard to grow?
@LisaMeighanMBPsS They're Toad lilies. They Enjoy the shade so they grow pretty nice here. They're really easy to grow too and don't require alot of care. Theres a Raspberry mousse one that's so pretty. You can order them online - here anyway. I bet Amazon probably carries them :)
@mytwistedsoul
Wow, they are so beautiful! Thanks for sharing.
@mytwistedsoul That is a amazing.
I am so glad you have a green thumb, when it comes to growing things.
So very proud of you.
Growing plants or any flower, it takes a special touch.
You have that touch, my friend.
@Happy900 Thank you :)
@LisaMeighanMBPsS
i used to have a spider plant. It died.
@Princetomyanxiety
Oh no! I'm sorry to hear that it died but sometimes that happens with plants. I do hope you can get some more :)
@LisaMeighanMBPsS
Hello Lisa, thank you for your thread, plants and flowers add niceness to daily life 😊 💐
Those are my plants I have in my house in the mountains, can't plant them in the garden because I also have dogs so I keep them in vases: (1. petunias 2. I liked it but I don't remember the name 😅 3. and 4. hibiscus of different colors)
@MeaningfulSilence those are amazing. I guess the dogs would get into the flowers if planted outdoors. Those make great indoor plants.
@soulsings
Yes but i am planning on planting something, sooner or later, in a corner of the garden where they surely won't get there to play 😀
@MeaningfulSilence
Wow, these plants are so so beautiful and you really look like you take great care of them. The Hibiscus reminds me of South Africa as it grows in abundance out there! :)
@LisaMeighanMBPsS
I did not know Lisa, I see that near the lake and mountain there are some people that let it grow in their garden, probably it's a plant that adapts well to different weather :)
@MeaningfulSilence
You definitively have a "green finger", amazing plants!
@LisaMeighanMBPsS this is wonderful. Love seeing all these plants. I have many I like but vinka or periwinkle is a great ground cover with tiny purple flowers that bloom early in the spring.
@soulsings
Beautiful Soul! 🌸
I guess these days it's already blossoming ?
@MeaningfulSilence I have to check in the yard but I think maybe a week or two.
@soulsings They look very nice! Did you know that a substance in them is used for chemotherapy?
@cloudySummer no that is amazing. Do you work in the medical field?
@soulsings I don't work currently, but I have a medical background, yes.
@cloudySummer thanks for sharing that!
@cloudySummer
Amazing fact! How do they use them in chemotherapy? Just so many benefits of plants and nature in general!
@soulsings
I love tiny purple flowers, they add such a beautiful pop of colour and must really brighten up your day too!
@soulsings
It must be a joy to pause for a moment and just watch them.
Just some of mine. So we are growing sunflowers that need to be planted outside but just waiting for the warmer weather but it looks like it's here now so a job for the weekend! I'm also growing a rose bush so the same goes for that too!
@LisaMeighanMBPsS
That's nice Lisa! orchids are good indoor 😊
Love roses, what color are them?
Enjoy your week-end with gardening!
@MeaningfulSilence
I've not attempted to grow a rose bush before so we will see :) They are red roses and I just picked up the seedling from a local shop and thought it would be nice to do with my daughters :)
@LisaMeighanMBPsS
Cool, it's a try then! Even more funny, there will be the wait and the extra care to let it blossom! 🌹
I also have some bulbs of tulips I plan to plant soon, at a point we will have new things to share then!
@LisaMeighanMBPsS
Lovely orchids Lisa!
@Heal2Grow what a lovely garden thanks for sharing.
@Heal2Grow
This looks like a really Happy Garden! Wonderful.
@Heal2Grow Beautiful.
@LisaMeighanMBPsS
Hi Lisa, due to the heat I hardly have real plants in the house but I always have various flower bouquets with a mixture of artificial and real plant leaves.
Here is a picture of my hibiscus, I just love to pass them, they give me so much joy
@amiablePeace77 wow those are beautiful
@amiablePeace77
Wow. Those are just beautiful!! I had those growing when I lived in South Africa. Truly very stunning flowers :) I love these pictures... keep them coming :)
Here are a few poppies. I think I poured in this ground some seeds I got in the mail and somehow they survived.
this is a lovely Rhododendron
@soulsings I love the rhododendron! Its so big! The deer eat them here :/
Thank you @mytwistedsoul
Surprisingly the deer do not eat them. But they do eat the arborvitae
@soulsings I didn't know they'd eat arborvitae too! I have netting around everything here. This is the first year the azalea will bloom since they were first planted because they were stripping them down to nothing. They're beautiful animals but they cause alot of problems
@mytwistedsoul some types of arbovitae they will eat and others they will not touch. Guess it depends on if they can get their favorite foods.
@soulsings Picking their favorite snacks :) like walking through a smorgasbord
@LisaMeighanMBPsS
I have cats, so I'm limited as to what plants I can have inside. I currently have a money tree. I haven't had any luck with them in the past, but this one seems to be holding it's own, and as you can see, it's bloomed a $20 bill.
I did have a hanging basket plant in here once. I thought " it's high enough that the cats will leave it alone." I was wrong.
@bmobile40 oh no maybe the cats are attracted to the money lol.
@bmobile40
I love those photos!! Wow look at your plants grow and the cats that are getting into the plants! Animals always have a way of finding the things we do not want them to get into, right? :)
@LisaMeighanMBPsS Thanks for sharing this information.
It is very interesting.
I really enjoy reading about this.
I learned some new things, which is always a good thing.
You did an amazing job, writing this.
Thanks for taking the time out of your very busy schedule, to write this post.
