Day 5: 3 Things I Like About Myself - A share of self-discovery!

Hi everyone,

7 Cups has an exciting online therapy update to share this month. To celebrate, we’re doing 25 days of Gratitude, Self-Care, and Personal Growth and please keep checking each day for updates! On Day 2, I want us to take a walk on a journey of self-appreciation with me. Today, I want us to focus on three things we like about ourselves. I'll kick things off!

Three things I appreciate about myself are:

1. I am a learner. I have an innate curiosity that propels me to explore new ideas, cultures, and perspectives. I believe that every person, every situation, every consequence or opportunity has a lesson for us and if we can identify and learn from it, it shapes us. Being a learner enabled me to adapt to new environments, acquire new skills, and embrace change. Learning is not just a means to an end for me; it's a lifelong journey that I enjoy.

2. My ability to connect with nature. Observing the environment around me finding joy and reflecting on the significance of every element is a joy to me. I feel comforted, bonded, and connected with nature.

3. I appreciate my ability to listen to others. I believe that compassion and understanding are the building blocks of meaningful human connections. When I put myself in someone else's shoes and listen to them, it allows me to foster deeper connections and support them better.

Now I invite all of you to reflect on the things you appreciate about yourselves. It can be anything. Let's get started and I look forward to celebrating you with us.

@ASilentObserver those are amazing things to be proud of yourself about ❤❤❤

Ok first thing I like about myself, is I can do art and craft😁 and I'm not half bad at it either. I love seeing my finished art, it makes me feel proud of myself. And I have so much fun doing it.

second thing I like about myself is I'm up early enough each day to watch the sunrise. I prefer to go sit outside under the willow tree in the garden to watch the sunrise and listen to the birds. But sometimes in this colder weather, I sit by window to watch it. All the colours of the sky, the darkness turning into light, it's just magical

third thing I like about myself, is my humour😁 I like making people smile with some light hearted fun. I like that I can be quite immature and find the littlest things funny

@Tinywhisper11 That's awesome Tiny. It is wonderful to hear about the things you enjoy and take pride in. Your art and craft seem to bring you a great deal of joy and fulfillment in seeing your creative visions come to life. I can sense how much fun the process brings you as well. Making time each day to appreciate the beauty of nature, like watching the sunrise, is also a very positive thing. And it is great that you find ways to spread humor and lightheartedness to others.

I like being witty and humorous. Can we teach ourselves? I am generally a serious person

@considerateSummer1171 I am glad more lightness and humor into your life are important to you. It certainly helps.  What kinds of activities or people help you access that fun-loving side? Your feelings are valid, and there are many paths to finding the balance that feels right for you. Please be kind and continue to take your small steps in that direction

"There is always a solution", this believe was given to me in childhood (not all my parents gave me is mixed messages and negative judgement). So I have some resourcefulness to solve even dire problems in my life.

My curios, creative and quick brain - has served me mostly well so far.

In general I like and trust people, unless proven otherwise. This is (for me) very helpful, because you meet lots of lovely people with this outlook.

@ASilentObserver

Thank you SilentObserver. Your initiative and feedback is very welcome! I myself felt some inner obstacle to actually say good things publicly about myself - it feels like boasting! I am sure that a lot of people face the same challenge to actually appreciate themselves.

@BeCreative1967 Thank you for sharing your insight, creative. I agree with you it can indeed be difficult to appreciate ourselves without seeming boastful. You are aware of this inner challenge, which is great and help you appreciate yourself without seem like boastful.

This is the way I have heard it

1. I've always had the ability to somehow bounce back and keep it moving to the next phase of life.

2. I do well around others who have anxiety; I'm able to set aside my stuff completely and spring into the action to help.

3. I appreciate about myself that I am always looking for something else to help elevate me mentally.

4. I know we said 3, but I'll go for 4. I appreciate that I'm simple. I don't need grandiose things that make me happy, it's the little things that lead to big results for me.

Three things I like about myself. I like that I never quit even when the going gets rough. I like that I can find something positive to be thankful each day. I love my children even if they don't always return that love.

@4Jasmine Never giving up, even in tough times, shows great strength and perseverance. Finding gratitude each day is also a gift. As for your children, their love for you runs deep, even if the way they show it is not always clear.

@ASilentObserver I have highly enjoyed reading those 3 things about you. Thank you for sharing that with us. ♡

The three things I appreciate about myself:

1. I am mentally strong. No matter what struggles life has brought my way, I always prided myself on my ability to stay strong-- mentally. I never turned to drugs, alcohol, sex, etc to help mask the pain or succumbed to peer pressure. I appreciate that about myself.

2. My creativity. I don't feel like I have to explain this one, lol. Everyone who knows me just knows this about me. ♡ Expressing myself through the use of colors, arts, crafts, etc are just a few of the ways I express my love and appreciation for others.

3. My love for animals. I just really love animals and I have my whole life. I have a soft spot for cute, adorable, helpless creatures. 🥰 I just instantly love them all.
