Welcome to the Therapist Sub-community August 2021
Welcome and thank you for joining the 7cups Online Therapy Sub Community!
Some people have questions about what therapy is like. Here is a post explaining more about therapy by LisaMeighanMBPsS , clinical director of therapy at 7cups:
Therapy is the process of meeting with a therapist to resolve problematic behaviours, beliefs, feelings, relationship issues, and anything that is on your mind. It can be a great place to have a safe space to talk about the things that have been bothering you. Beginning therapy can be a big step toward being the healthiest version of yourself and living the best life that you can, no matter what challenges you're experiencing. It might feel daunting at first as even positive change can be really tough! Through therapy, you can change self-destructive behaviors and habits, resolve uncomfortable feelings and improve your relationships.
Your relationship with your therapist will be a close and trusting connection but sometimes it can take time to develop or you feel like it might not be a great fit between you and your therapist, it's important you find the right therapeutic fit. Please let us know if you have any more questions!

This is Angel - verified, trained, and active listener since April 2019. I joined Therapy Subcommunity just last night as I wasn't aware of such a support group existing on 7 Cups. I am glad to be a part of it now. I look forward to assisting when the support is needed and also being supported whenever required. I believe that there is always room for improvement and learning. Being an active listener, I have learned a lot from members. Hopefully, I can learn more from others' shared experiences here and it will also encourage me to handle life's obstacles with loads of courage. Indeed, together we can create a beautiful world. β€
Thanks for reading,
Love,
- Angel

Hi lyricalAngel70 and welcome to our subcom! The 7cups Online Therapy Sub-com is relatively new, so we're glad you found us and joined! . I fully agree to what you said about learning, learning never stops until we make it stop and there is so much to learn about the world but also how we can support ourselves.
@amiablePeace77
Hey Peace, thank you once again! π
Wow, it's a new sub-community? I am so glad to have found it. I agree that there are so many things to be learned. I feel that thirst for learning can never be satisfied especially for someone who is a learner & enjoys learning about different stuff in the world.

I'm Cattleya. I'm 24 and I work in the Healthcare industry. I have recently realized I've spent so much time caring for others that I forgot to do the same for myself and I have accumulated so much that I struggle with depression and anxiety. I look forward to creating a safe space for me to improve and share my worries and insights as well as hoping that what I'm going through will perhaps serve as inspiration or insight for others, and if not that at least just as I did, they would now know they're not going through it alone. πΊ
Hi, my name is Cindy. I'm an RN and work for a large corporation through the Pacific Northwest, both traveling between 10 medical facilities and monitoring information remotely online. I love being a nurse and caring for others, however; I have found that between my job, 5 children, 3 grandbabies and a diagnosis of cancer 2 years ago and various treatments since... my battles with depression and anxiety have increased exponentially. I've continued to work full time as I am the primary income provider in our household. Of our children only 2 teen girls remain at home. I have worked so much over the last 6 years that I have zero social life and very few friends. My family and older children live on the east coast. So, while my right brain tells me I have so much to live for... my left brain agrees, "what's the point, they don't appreciate you anyway, Aren't you tired of the pain?" My daughter-in-law is the closet thing I have to a support system and I feel so guilty burdening her with all my emotional baggage when she is so young with 3 small kids. Could someone please help?
@OBXRN75

@OBXRN75 hi there sorry you are feeling so burned out by everything.That is one of the signs of depression. Here is a recent post by Lisa, a counselor and director of 7cups online therapy, about how to cope with depression. tps://www.7cups.com/forum/7CupsOnlineTherapy_157/DevelopingHealthyCopingSkills_2253/WhatisDepressionandHowToCopeWithIt_253536/
This is a meditation that helps relieve my stress in 5 minutes
Put your hands on your belly and feel the belly push out on the inbreath and go in on the out breath
Do NOT try to stop your thoughts. Just let them go by like leaves.
Try five minutes or if you need to shorter time either eyes open or closed however you are comfortable
Hello everyone
I am so happy to be a part of this group. I hope that my presence will help aid in the betterment of 7cups, as well as to grow and serve each of you to the best of my ability. I am new at this and I know I will make some mistakes but I want to learn and I can take corrective criticism that is how we learn and how we grow.

I canβt remember if I introduced myself here or not yet. Iβve been struggling with some depersonalization lately, I always do but not usually this much, so please forgive me if I repeat myself. I was reading a website unrelated to this and the author of the blog said this is a good place to get some support. Iβve been hoping and praying I could find some because I feel like I really lack support in my life. I have people around me but they donβt often really understand what Iβm going through. For some reason I seem to have a lot of invalidating people around me, but I noticed the people in here seem validating and also very gentle, which is exactly what I need. Iβm so glad this exists, and for all of you here, and Iβm looking forward to talking to you here both to receive and also to give support. Thanks to all of you for being so kind and compassionate in a world that can be pretty harsh sometimes.
@SolarRae
Welcome!!! I'm glad you are here and hope you have an awesome experience and find what you are looking for β€οΈ
@SolarRae

We look forward to seeing you around the site and we appreciate your willingness to help others. We need more loving and compassionate people in the world. I hope that we can give you the support that you so deserve.

Since I am not currently i a financial position to afford therapy so I am trying different ways to supplement. I look forward to being open and receiving what I can.
