Call for Testers: AI Bots Review for Mental Health Support
Hi everyone,
We’re looking for 10 listeners and 10 members to take part in an exciting project! You will have the opportunity to test and compare two AI bots - Wysa and Noni - over the course of two weeks. Your insights will help shape a review blog about mental health support with technology.
Requirements:
- Be ready to use both Wysa and Noni daily for 2 weeks (10 days, with weekends off).
- You must test the same topic or concern with both AI bots each time you use them to ensure consistency in the comparison.
- Comfortable documenting your experience, including taking screenshots of meaningful interactions.
- Able to provide daily feedback and an overall evaluation at the end of the testing journey.
- Willing to share honest opinions and suggestions based on your experience.
Further details will be shared with selected testers.
If you’re interested, please fill out the sign-up form here. We will select participants based on creating a balanced group with diverse perspectives.
Do you really think someone looking for human compassion wants to speak to a bot? This is like pretty much the least suitable part of life for AI interference
@WhatNameidk
I remember talking as a listener to a chatbot and it was upsetting to some extent. The rhythm was off, because any message you sent, a new paragraph would come right back at you which was odd, considering the length. Also the messages were full of buzz words and somehow it felt like it wanted to teach you something rather than just tell you what the problem was. The whole emotion part was rather.... unemotional.
It's not unlike the first attempts at voice-to-text where my accent was not understood back in the day. Now it does a good job, but it took some time.
So let's hope that as this is studied and perfected, they'll get somewhere.
@WhatNameidk
No it's not for everyone. But I know a couple people who would prefer to with certain topics.
@WhatNameidk I agree. This would be a bad move for 7 cups. The human element is required when someone reaches out to a listener. Will someone have the choice between a bot and a real live person?
@Ksully123
I do understand where you come from and your view is perfect as long as science makes no progress. This is what these experts are trying to get to: a simili-human touch and there will be more and more progress towards that goal. As you point out, the goal is not reached yet and it is highly perfectible.
I should add that in Japan, a lot of young kids are learning school stuff with a cute robot who turns those lessons into games and the kids apparently become rather attached to their "teacher", which incidentally makes the lessons more and more successful because they want the positive feedback (how cute, LOL!).
We are in a constant evolution...Let's hope it gets in the right direction
M interested
@SoulfullyAButterfly
Sounds exciting!
I'm interested also - and can bring something else to the discussion. I am on the autistic spectrum and have had to learn to recognise emotions in others and learn to use compassionate words. I learnt that through practising with PI the AI
@SoulfullyAButterfly
*** there's nothing wrong in trying. I am interested as well.
AI will be the nail in the coffin that human creativity will lie & decompose in.
@slowdecline48
Hey, Meta AI helped me write my Christmas cards today. lol
@jesusredeemedme2425 Good for you, I suppose.
Admittedly, being creative doesn't come easily to everyone...not in equal measure. Never been a big-time writer myself.
Im actually really good at writing, but after writing Christmas cards to my coworkers for several years in a row, I needed some originality instead of repeating what I’d said in previous years XD
"Merry Hanukwanzaamas"
"Happy Hanuchristmukkah"
"Merry Christmas. May your holidays be full of wine & carbohydrates, & may your relatives not overstay their welcome"
"Merry Christmas. I made you this card because I didn't feel like buying a Hallmark one"
You forgot one.
“Festivus for the rest of us!”
;)
Festivus is the anti-Christmas. It will never be commercialized. That's why I left it out. 😃
Hey, at least I’m old enough to remember it. ;)
I made a Hogan’s Heroes reference today and one of the older guys didn’t understand it… It’s not even my generation lol
😂 Welcome to my world, sort of...
Once I was in a bar, in a conversation with a guy who was not in his 20's. The convo drifted to history; I mentioned Austerlitz (one of Napoleon's greatest victories, maybe the best one he ever pulled off)...the gentleman had no idea what I was referring to. 😒
At least he knew who Napoleon Buonaparte was. I wouldn't even try to bring that up when I'm talking to a zoomer or Gen Alpha kid.

Please, excuse me, but I have some questions which may be important:
When is the test going to take place (if the dates are already known)?
How much time is necessary to run the test - would an hour (or two) daily be enough?
Are we going to test the AIs with the subjects we invented (using our experience or creativity), or will the topics be given to us by 7 Cups administration?
Actually, I just meant to confirm: the chosen Listeners and Members will act as people who need help, and Wysa and Noni will be trying to help?
@jacek73 Hi there,
We will likely do the testing in the upcoming weeks. As long as you can dedicate 30 mins to an hour per day, it will be enough - some chats might be shorter or longer but they key is usually to keep them similar for both products. Users will be encouraged to test things with their own topics/experiences but in case you have trouble with that we can recommend general topics for inspiration.
@SoulfullyAButterfly
Actually, I am here thanks to AI. I had no idea about this site, but it was recommended to me by Chat GPT.
@SoulfullyAButterfly How is the testing done? As far as I know, Wysa is a separate app that only runs on mobile phones (and that does not run on my phone). Is that how testing is supposed to work?
Btw. ... chats with Noni always end up with me closing the chat and being exhausted and angry, for Noni is incredibly obtuse and repetitive ...
It seems completely unable to adjust its behavior when asked to do so, and asks the same thing 10 times in a row, even when you said you do not want to talk about that. Even the local Llama chatbot that runs on my own computer is more capable than that.
@SoulfullyAButterfly
Ooo this sounds awesome pawesome and am so excited to hear about this wholesome opportunity 🤍😊😁
