Regional, State, Country Surveys?

Quick question for you all:

We released our Local section a few months ago: 7cups.com/local. Part of this directory includes the top 50 mental health challenges in each region. I was talking with a couple of friends that were trying to find ways to create positive mental health change through organized campaigns. One idea they had one was a sort of regular poll or survey that would be tied to states or countries.

Members and listeners would be able to ask their own questions. We would also ask questions. The goal would be to try to figure out bottom-up and top-down what the main mental health challenges are in each region. Once we identified those challenges, we could then help start to solve them both online - on 7 Cups - and offline through working with local partners.

The data from the surveys would be published on the local pages for each country and state.

Any reactions to this idea?

We don't want to do it if there isn't organic interest in it. I'm not wedded to it either way. Open and honest feedback very welcome!

@GlenM I didn't think the 'top mental health challenges' texts were anything but an AI-generated filler, so the empty pages would look less empty, tbh.

It seemed mostly irrelevant (I already know about my own country... - even better than that overly enthusiastic text) and, well, text-generated ... Oh, and now also image-generated.

Totally unnecessary, from my POV. A waste of readers' time, and a waste of valuable energy resources.

What sources did you use for it? I suppose it all fell out of Claude or ChatGPT, which scraped it from other people's websites?

And the number of *exactly* 5000 listeners (for Germany, in this case) seems a bit strange, too - especially as only 77 of them seem to be available in the 'Browse listeners' section. That doesn't add up, right?

@theboymoana hey there! no need to do anything yet. if we build this survey tool, then I'll let you know. you can just vote on the answers or share your own questions. it'll be down the road so no rush on things!

@GlenM I knew that the resources had increased and the stigma decreased around mental health, however, I hadn't realized it was that specific. Knowing that local pages will have a focus on what the area needs specifically is GREAT! I want to go over to my local page and see what it looks like in my area. Anyway I think the idea is FANTASTIC.

This is an awesome idea! I know there are many countries in the world that have insufficient resources linked to mental health, and many suffering have no outlet to turn to. This will be a great opportunity to reach out to them and offer a helping hand.

I find the current location information to be lacking. If I put my city and province no correct option appears.

Canada is a bit too broad if seeking social supports. For 1 distance, being the 2nd largest country, seeing information in Halifax is unlikely to help someone in Vancouver, over 4000km apart and more than 6000km to drive. Also, healthcare and many social services fall under provincial jurisdiction and/or funding. So going into another province for assistance may not be beneficial, even if there's a location nearby, although there are exceptions.

I also wonder about services that are specific to First Nations, Inuit and Metis communities.

"The name, email address and photo associated with your Google Account will be recorded when you upload files and submit this form"

Typically, when we use Google forms on 7cups we don't do this. Is it intentional for this project?
