Regional, State, Country Surveys?

Quick question for you all:
We released our Local section a few months ago: 7cups.com/local. Part of this directory includes the top 50 mental health challenges in each region. I was talking with a couple of friends that were trying to find ways to create positive mental health change through organized campaigns. One idea they had one was a sort of regular poll or survey that would be tied to states or countries.
Members and listeners would be able to ask their own questions. We would also ask questions. The goal would be to try to figure out bottom-up and top-down what the main mental health challenges are in each region. Once we identified those challenges, we could then help start to solve them both online - on 7 Cups - and offline through working with local partners.
The data from the surveys would be published on the local pages for each country and state.
Any reactions to this idea?
We don't want to do it if there isn't organic interest in it. I'm not wedded to it either way. Open and honest feedback very welcome!

If you'd like to help us collectively build out food pantries, crisis lines, shelters, other nonprofits etc. across all the regions around the world, including your local area, you can submit listing through this form (here)!

@GlenM I think this would be really awesome!! I didn’t even realize that the local page lists the top mental health challenges in each area, that’s so cool. I’m going to check it out now!

I like the idea

@GlenM
@GlenM this is an awesome idea, i quite very much agree with LittleBirdie30!
i think that a great idea would be that, once challenges are identified in specific regions of the World, there can be scheduled group chatrooms on 7 Cups for the said challenges?
well wishes everyone, and thanks to everyone in the 7 Cups community for always being supportive and being there for each other!
@NewYorker11 glad you like the idea. Yes, that is exactly it. We don't talk about it a lot, but 7 Cups is technically a "population health" platform. Meaning, an individual counselor might try to help a single person or a group of people. That counselor works to help that person get better. 7 Cups looks at overall populations (lots of people) and we try to create systems that help a lot of people get better.
The local section is our first real attempt at exposing the work we've been doing for over 11 years. Like, hey New York we've helped X amount of people in your state, we have Y amount of listeners, and here are your top 50 mental health issues.
This mechanism would start simply as a way of getting real person data at scale on what the primary issues are we should be addressing. Then we'd work to use all the therapeutic elements on 7 Cups to try to help make a dent in those issues. You can eventually see this expanding offline too. There is a lot to think about here. Ideas are very welcome!

@GlenM
@GlenM wow, this all sounds like many great steps toward more and more progress for 7 Cups as an online platform and online community geared toward mental health solutions!
and yes, my one idea was to have dedicated chatrooms to specific issues where one or a few listeners would address a large amount of members with the same life and/or health issues.
again, thanks for the post @GlenM 😃

✨This is absolutely fantastic✨

That's an amazing idea, honestly this would help so many people especially right now. The current situation across the world isn't the best so this is even better now than ever (though it'd be great at any time)
anyway yeah this is lovely <3

As a hispanic latine that has always lives in her birth country (Chile <3) I would love to see this feature! The things I love the most about being online is sharing with people that have so many diverse perspectives, experiences and cultures from mine!
My geography is so bad anyways haha, so I love to be reminded about in which continent any country is haha.
Talking about different cultures, PLEASE EAT SOPAIPILLAS, the best thing that happened to Chile ARE SOPAIPILLAS.
Sopaipillas my beloved <3

I really like the idea ♡

Building on this idea, we could also have forums for each state and country as well. Would that be interesting or not really?

@GlenM
This is a beautiful idea! Getting all of us to work together to figure out how to support each other around the world is always a good idea :)
Identifying the challenges and posting them would be good for people doing course/project research or even for someone needing to know they're not alone. If there's a large published statistic (cause I know a lot of us need to know others have the same setbacks), it takes a decent stress off of 'Why am I like this?' questions.
I think it could also benefit from including the most common self care places without professionals. For example, looking up my zip code says I should check out the local facilities but there is a local park downtown that's amazing for getting a fresh reset with my anxiety.
@SnowTabby such a smart idea on crowdsourcing non-traditional places that are good for our mental health. What would be a good name for these locations? Words like nurturing, healing, nature etc. come to my mind. What resonates with you?

@GlenM
'Self-Nurturing Sites' seems to be a common representation of non-traditional places to go. It could help to use an already existing name, keep some familiarity and comfort within the research.
I do also resonate with just 'Naturalistic Activities' or something similar to represent a list of locations.
