Since we launched our monthly forum spotlights, we have noticed an overall increase in engagement. Following our 2024 forum unwrapped [https://www.7cups.com/forum/siteupdates/EventsDiscussions_2666/ForumUnwrapped2024Statistics_344129/], we also realised how wonderful it was to share our statistics with you. This is why we wanted to tweak our forum spotlights going forward so that all community users feel valued and appreciated.
Please find below the new structure for our monthly spotlights and an explanation of what each part will consist of.

Leaders and community users can continue to submit threads / discussions to showcase at the end of each month through this form [https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSchnFah-pa_1ZKBOL5Co_b4g051ohN3H-lCiE8PSC8fNkeeLw/viewform]. These will continue to be part of our monthly forum spotlight as it allows us to showcase the efforts of individual communities and leaders.

Find out more information about this challenge here [https://www.7cups.com/forum/siteupdates/EventsDiscussions_2666/Introducingournewandimprovedforumengagementchallenge_335791/]. 🥉 100 cheers (listeners) or 100 growth points (members)
Top upvoters
Upvotes allow others to feel welcomed and can give a boost in confidence. As a result of this, the top 3 upvoters (the people who give the most upvotes to others) will receive the following:
🥇 300 cheers (listeners) or 300 growth points (members)
🥈 200 cheers (listeners) or 200 growth points (members)
🥉 100 cheers (listeners) or 100 growth points (members)
Top communities
We will also post our top three communities with the most threads/posts for that month. This can be a great incentive for you to support your favourite community and aim to get on the leaderboard. Forum leaders, please do not hesitate to reach out to tommy [http://7cups.com/@tommy] if you'd like to know your statistics.
Forum Hero Awards
Each month, we will announce two recipients for each of our forum awards. Our Forum Guru and Community Contributor badges were announced back in 2023 and we're bringing them back with a bang! Recipients will receive not only the badge but also 300 cheers as a way of appreciating them for their efforts and impact they've had on the community.
* Forum Guru: This is awarded to our exceptional Forum Supporters, Community Mentors, and Community Mentor Leaders, who have undergone rigorous training and consistently demonstrate outstanding leadership in the 7Cups forum community. These dedicated individuals provide expert support and guidance, earning the respect and admiration of their fellow leaders and forum members. Their contributions help maintain the high standards and positive atmosphere of our forums.
* Community Contributor: This badge is dedicated to compassionate individuals who, without any official titles, consistently extend a helping hand to fellow members within the 7Cups community. These unsung heroes are always ready to respond to posts, offer support, and provide valuable insights. Their selfless contributions foster a sense of unity and kindness, making our community a warmer and more welcoming place for all.
Please submit your nominations (of others and not yourself) for January 2025 here [https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScRXPAdYYJ0s2Du8rgduGf3S0zIqGAfpdZKreJs6Y7mpMjF2g/viewform] (previous nominations will continuously be taken into account for upcoming awardees unless they have already received the badge).

The Transformation Wheel: FAQs

Happy 2025 everybody!
Last month I introduced a brand new intervention called the Transformation Wheel. [https://www.7cups.com/forum/siteupdates/General_2444/IntroducingtheTransformationWheelInvitationtoJoin_342256/] If you’ve been following along, you know it’s a powerful tool I’ve been using to tackle personal challenges and break free from negative cycles and it’s been transformative. I was feeling an 8/10 on the distress scale and after 4 weeks of exploration and investment, the issue has dropped to a manageable 2/10.
But I am just one of a handful of accounts so far. To measure just how effective this tool is, I need more perspectives. I have requested testers to try it for themselves and give me feedback. Some of you have already signed up and are currently working through it! If you have a problem plaguing you that you want to get control over, read over the Transformation Wheel guide [https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/10ZNwCgmwk3Gpn0N7W715avZE2HxSyywn1hBvMuTaelA/edit#slide=id.g31c733bb7ac_1_15], download the image, sign up here [https://www.7cups.com/forum/siteupdates/General_2444/TestersNeededTrytheTransformationWheelandearnabadge_342554/], and start tackling!
For those still unclear on some parts of the process, I’d like to answer some frequently asked questions.
How do I fill out the Wheel image?
There are image editors on your computer/phone you can edit directly onto. There’s also sites like Canva for text adding. Or you can go traditional and print it out or draw it yourself.
Why do I need all these categories?
The categories, also known as subtopics or subissues exist to help you gain a deeper understanding of the main issue you're facing. By breaking down the issue into smaller, more manageable parts, you can better identify the root cause. The categories prompt you to consider different aspects of the main issue, such as how it affects your thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and physical health. This comprehensive analysis ensures you're not overlooking any important factors. The categories also allow you to track your progress over time. As you work on addressing each, you can rate the severity of the main issue and each category to see how your overall well-being improves. In essence, the subtopics serve as a roadmap for tackling your challenges systematically and thoroughly!
What kinds of issues could I work on?
We've noticed issues that deal with emotion, well-being, interpersonal relationships and life adjustments tend to blend well with this model. Some examples:
Relationship problems: This could include issues with romantic partners, family members, friends, or colleagues.
Stress and anxiety: The transformation wheel can help you identify the root causes of your stress and anxiety, and develop coping mechanisms.
Low self-esteem: By working through the different aspects of this issue, you can start to develop a more positive self-image.
Anger management: The transformation wheel can help you understand what triggers your anger and develop healthy ways to express it.
Negative thoughts and behaviors: This exercise can help you identify negative patterns in your thinking and behavior, and develop strategies for changing them.
Life transitions: Major life changes, such as a new job, a move, or the death of a loved one, can be challenging.
The Transformation Wheel can help you cope with these changes in a healthy way. However, these are just some tested scenarios! Please experiment with yours, try on different issues and see what fits!
Okay, I have my issues. What next?
Now you’ll work on confronting them! You do this through what are called interventions aka methods/techniques used to address and improve mental well-being.
Talking to a listener, for example, is an intervention. Others, as outlined in the Transformation Wheel guide [https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/10ZNwCgmwk3Gpn0N7W715avZE2HxSyywn1hBvMuTaelA/edit#slide=id.g31c733bb7ac_1_0], include:
*
Journaling. The practice of regularly writing down your thoughts, feelings, experiences, and reflections.
*
Talk with Noni
*
Somatic release
*
Prayer. You can pray for the negative feelings, thoughts and memories to lose their power and potency and to fade. You can pray as generally or as specifically as you want.
*
Exploring with a therapist
How often do I do them?
As often as you feel you need to. Some benefit from a daily activity, others a couple of times a week. It depends entirely on how much time you can dedicate and the severity of your issue. The only requirement is consistency. If you don’t put in the work, you won’t progress.
Tip: Utilize many different interventions until you find the best ones for your situation. Ex. talk with listeners and keep a journal of your thoughts
What if I miss a week?
Life happens! If you miss a week, simply start a new week. To get back on the wheel quickly, I recommend the 2-minute rule:
"If a task can be completed in two minutes or less, do it immediately." Identify 2-minute tasks: Look for small, quick tasks that can be done in two minutes or less e.g. prayer, mindfulness checkin, gratitude list
I did the 4 weeks but am not satisfied with my ratings. Can I do it again?
Yes! You can do it as many times as necessary!
Are there any worksheets or templates I could use?
Yes!
We have a PDF worksheet for each week you can download here [https://drive.google.com/file/d/1POojXQyix4RYMJLbg9VWgiKgc10ddFvN/view?usp=sharing].
There's also a google document: open and make a copy of it here. [https://docs.google.com/document/d/1OxBpW7Bn1D3kNFP_Vx1_5fZlp9BkoPc5fNUMUtP85xM/edit?tab=t.0]

With that, I’d like to invite you to take the wheel.
As a tester, you’ll play a key role in helping strengthen this intervention by giving us feedback on how effective the process was for you and any ideas for improving it.
And as a thank-you, you’ll be rewarded with the Wellness Warrior badge.
Fill in this form to sign up HERE [https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSc8R8vyQHTweyA20lEg3lCeIHuyhq1ZSLsb4nVczUtqL5-nlg/viewform], and I will reach out to check in with you and give you the feedback form.
(At this point in early testing, both members and listeners are welcome to take part.)
Thank you for helping us build a brand-new therapeutic tool to help people!

Hi all! Thanks to feedback from the community (aka YOU!) we've identified & resolved a bug where some users were missing lower-level badges despite completing the requirements for higher ones. Our fix should go into effect in the next 24hrs or so.
The next time you chat, post in the forum etc, you may notice some badge alerts pop up if you had any missing. Enjoy! 🎉

Hello Glorious Community,
It is with great excitement, that we would like let you know the feature allowing Listeners PM members will launch tomorrow morning! You can learn more about the evolution of this feature here. [https://www.7cups.com/forum/SiteUpdatesInformationFortheCommunity_100/SiteUpdatesDecember2016_1090/December14ListenersPMingMembersFeature_55871/]However, here are the hot items to know:
Listeners who reach the both of the below outlined badges will be able to PM Members:
----> Tick Tock: For reaching ten 1-on-1 chats with members
----> Loyal Friend: Listeners who earn 1 approved positive review
Members you may receive a PM from a Listener for the following reason:
1) A friendly welcome to the community
2) A listener saw a post of yours in the forum and wants to support you
3) A listener interacted with you in group support and wants to support you
4) A listener saw one of your feed posts and wants to support you
5) If you are working on a community project with a listener & they PM you to collaborate
There are likely other situations too!
Members, you will have the ability to opt-out of this feature. If you do not want Listeners to PM you, you can turn this off on your settings page.
We believe that this update will increase support giving in the community and encourage listeners to support and community build with members in a more dynamic way!
I will be present in the community throughout the day tomorrow and available to answer your questions in this thread or in the chatrooms. We know this update may present us with more opportunties to learn and make the site better & I am excite to do that together! Additionally, a form will be provided tomorrow (after launch) providing a way for you to share bugs or give additional feedback on the update!

That was a mouthful!
The Motivation and Self Help SC will be merging into Appreciation and Gratitude in the coming weeks, just in time for Appreciation and Gratitude's year anniversary on Feb 13 (stay tuned for some fun surrounding that).
In addition, Appreciation and Gratitude will be updating its name to be Positivity and Gratitude. Compassion Corner will remain as the 24/7 chat room, and the pop up discussion room will be Positivity Corner.
We look forward to strengthening the community by joining these two great SCs into one.

Want to check it out? Did you know you can always re-take the initial listener training? It is the Active Listener training at the very top of all the available trainings.
This is not a large change, but one we think will be helpful to our brand new listeners. We will continue to work on enhancing our new listener experience and have a few projects in the works. Stay tuned!

Listener Certificate Levels just leveled up!

Listening to someone to offer support is why 7 Cups exists, and we offer a unique volunteer experience that allows us to listen on our schedule. Without dedicated volunteer listeners we would not exist! As such, we want to make sure those who volunteer in this capacity get recognized and have a way to authenticate their time spent volunteering. Which leads us to:
Listener Certifications got a makeover… again!
Weve added 6 more tiers. Why? We wanted the first few to be easier to achieve, and we wanted to curate the required trainings, badges, listening hours, etc to really reflect a Listener who is dedicated to growth and learning (not to mention time spent listening).
There are now 10 certification levels. Check out your current level here [https://www.7cups.com/listener/training.php] (click the certificate button to toggle over from the training page). For simplicity and professionalism they are named for their level, for example Level 1, Level 2, etc. These are not associated with the badges and levels of passing the active listener trainings. You must still fill those out if you would like to achieve those badges and credentials.
Please note you must be on a Listener acount to access the page 👆
⚡️The mix of cheers, training guides, badges, star ratings, and chat hours are how we guide a listener to continue growing. Learn more about cheers here [https://www.7cups.com/about/faqBadgesCheers.php%C2%A0], they are easy to get when you are working on becoming a great listener!
Fun Fact: At the time of this posting, no one has reached level 10 yet (but a few are close!)
We've opted to remove the four badges associated wtih passing the Active Listener trainings/tests: graduate, master, rocket, and scholar. Expect to see those poof soon.
When you achieve a level the downloadable certificate button will turn blue. The first and last name you used to make your account is what will show up on the certificate. You can update your name in my settings anytime.
What level are you?
No longer fixing bugs with the Feed

Hi everyone! Ece from the 7 Cups Product team here with a tough announcement to make. Here goes:
As of this week, we will no longer be fixing bugs with the feed.
This was a tough decision & not one we made lightly so I want to share with you the full reasoning that went into it:
1) The feed is hard for us to fix: The code that powers the feed is now some of the oldest on our site, which means the engineering effort it would take to fix the update bugs, hashtag bugs & other feed inconsistencies being reported is really high
2) It is hard for us to keep fixed: Because it's so old, the feed content actually lives on totally different servers than the rest of the site. Some of the bugs are due to this separate server set-up & it takes ongoing maintenance & additional time to keep them from regressing
3) It is expensive: That separate server set up is more expensive than all the rest of our servers. There have been months where server costs for the feed are as high as 1/3rd of our total server cost for the entire product!
4) Most people arent using it: Over the past 6 months, less than 2.5% of active users on the site have engaged with their feed (posting, following, hearting, etc). Even if we look at only engaged Members & Listeners, that number is still just 10%.
We're a small team with limited resources & in considering all of this we came to the conclusion that we just can not afford the engineering time it would take to fix the feed when it does not benefit > 90% of our engaged Members & Listeners.
Next steps:
We know some of you really like & regularly use the feed and it's frustrating to be hit with the no updates bug or have hashtags not work. We want to take this opportunity to gather feedback from you directly as we think about how to proceed in the future.
Comment below with your thoughts:
- If you use the feed, what do you value about it? How would you complete the sentence "The feed lets me.....?"
- If you don't use the feed, why not? What about this feature didnt work for you?
Thanks so much for your understanding & your feedback!
