Announcing the H Prize!
Dear Community,
I hope all is well! I’m writing today with an exciting announcement. We will be launching the H Prize on November 2, 2021.
There will soon be a landing page with more details at 7cups.com/hprize. For now, here is a flyer that gives a broad overview:
What is the H Prize?
The H Prize is designed to honor our collective efforts and highlight how we help one another
grow. People of all sorts - experts and non-experts both - are invited to create their own growth paths on 7 Cups.
A growth path is a series of steps (text, video, images) designed to help strengthen us as
individuals and as a global society.
What are the categories?
Categories for Growth Paths include:
Compassion
Courage
Spirituality
Hope
Leadership
Motivation
Change
Depression
Anxiety
Substance Use
Relationships
Gratitude
Happiness
What is the prize?
There will be a $2,000 USD award for each category.
How will growth paths be judged?
There will be 4 criteria: number of steps taken, number of upvotes, quality of content, relevance of content. Please do not try to game the steps or upvotes.
When will winners be announced?
The date is TBD, but likely the end of February or March 1.
How do I build a growth path?
Great question! Here is a video that walks you through it!
Are current growth paths eligible?
Yes, any growth path that has already been built is eligible. Please just add a category tag to the growth path so we can find it.
Why are we doing this?
We believe that growth path steps are a sort of digital therapeutic or digital medicine that can help people overcome specific challenges. At present, we have over 100 growth paths that address dozens of issues. There are many issues that people struggle with that have therapy protocols or growth path steps that are too difficult for people to consistently take. It feels too much like homework. Instead, growth path steps need to feel a bit easier to do - kind of like eating a snack (I love those “healthy” snap pea snacks and can eat a bag without even thinking about it) and even enjoyable. That is what want to do for exercises and interventions to help people better cope with and master challenges.
Another reason is we want to increase growth paths for areas that do not yet have therapy protocols so we can help more people that experience a variety of problems. For example, Emre, the main developer that built the growth path tool has a fear of dogs. We don’t yet have a growth path that helps people overcome a fear of dogs. Soon we will and many more areas as well!
How was this funded?
A philanthropic foundation funded this project to help increase growth paths that address positive and strength based areas like religion, spirituality, and flourishing.
Is Hope a judge?
Yes! The Dean of our Academy is also a judge. Thanks Hope!
I am interested, how can I participate?
We encourage you to think about the category(s) you would like to build growth paths for - thinking of the target population (users) as well as the specific area/topic within these categories are a great way to formulate your growth path plan.
If you are ready to start building your growth path, please submit this Participant Information Form so we can award you the badge (Path Builder) to build a growth path that is publicly available for usage for the 7 Cups community.
I have signed up but need support
We’ve got your back! Please submit the Support Form for assistance.
Ask any other questions below and we'll answer them and update this main post as well. Thank you!
Thank you,
Glen
@GlenM What happened to the existing growth paths? Many that I used to be able to access don't show up any more and one that I was creating for Chronic Illness doesn't appear connected to the disability community as it used to, I can only see it under My Paths.
@AffyAvo, that sounds strange and like maybe we have a bug there. @soulfullyabutterfly can help. Can you fill out the support form above so she can look into it and problem solve?
@GlenM Looks like (some? all?) of the paths made before a certain date got switched to private.
@AffyAvo Hi Affy, please PM me the details so we can figure out what has happened.
@AffyAvo @GlenM same thing happened for me <3 not quite sure why, although i couldn't seem to find mine anywhere.
@enchantedlove Hopefully you can go into the path builder and switch them to public. It worked for me.
@GlenM
Definitely participating, not only this will increase the therapeutic support on the site but is also a step closer in making this platform where one can find something for every kind of situations, love your initiative! Truly inspiring ❤️
@GlenM
Thank you so much for this, I recently faced a situation similar to the one you mentioned in your example, It would be nice to build paths which are unique and helpful for the areas which needs some mechanisms. Would love to share my experience for this noble work ☺️
@GlenM
Hi Glen
Sorry im quite new to growth paths. May i ask, does your account activity or status promote your growth path? or does that not matter? Also how would you promote it, if you do at all?
x Dahlia
@calmingMermaid5761 Hi Dahlia, our account activity/status does not affect our growth path ideas or contributions - the paths are built by listeners, members, leaders, and even some Experts! For some ideas, you can view the currently available paths in different categories and types here - as for promotions, we regularly set alerts or use social media to promote all of the paths - you are welcome to help in promoting them if interested.
@SoulfullyAButterfly
Sorry for being a little slow haha! But our usernames would be associated with the growth path, correct?
@GlenM
Thank you for the announcement. This is super exciting and I am looking forward to seeing more growth paths! Honored to be a part of this initiative! Thank you @SoulfullyAButterfly for the support and help on this front.
@Hope thank you too ✨
@Hope honored to have you on board! Thank you for being a judge!
@GlenM
Honored to be on board!
@GlenM This is such a wonderful idea and great opportunity! It'll definitely breed motivation to see more detailed and personally helpful paths 💙 I look forward to participating and seeing the creations of others from this event (as I'm sure there will definitely be many :0) The best of luck to all participating.
Is there a final date for these growth paths to be submitted by?
@KatieTheBigRockOne I would try to get them all complete by end of January. Thank you!
@GlenM
To continue this question, may I know the deadline to register for the participation? Many thanks in advance!
Sorry, forgot to ask this together with the previous question - can a newbie member/listener join, or does someone have to be on 7Cups for a minimum of a certain period of time to join?
@11820Read yes, anyone can join! No hard deadline except for end of January has been announced yet, you can fill the participation form as soon you are ready to, and we will then tag you on any further updates most likely!
@SoulfullyAButterfly Thank you!
This sounds a huge prize! Good to see growth paths are given this much importance. They indeed carry great potential in changing and bettering lives. Long texts, books, etc, could be very insightful, but short capsules could really do magic, since those capsules would be little key infos to retain and apply in life. Wish everyone good time with creating and walking the steps of the growth paths, but for the sheer joy of the process more than for anything else.
I have highlighted many good growth paths in this 'growth path about growth paths': https://www.7cups.com/path/playlist/grow/ This could help you get ideas for making more good growth paths.
@Fristo Lol a Growth Path Growth Path -- love it, Fristo :)
@GlenM
Is there a limit for how many growth paths you can create?
@calmingMermaid5761 no limits! you can participate in multiple categories and also submit multiple paths for a single category.
I've started playing around in the growth paths and 2 things:
1. You can't clone another path. It just sits there never loading.
2. I can't figure out how to add steps. Any hints welcome lol
Thank you for this awesome event and any help you can provide.
@777Bre777 thank you for these questions and for filling the Support Form - I will reach out to offer guidance soon.
