3 Key Things!
Please post here 3 key things you have done to help move 7 Cups forward. I will be doing this on a daily basis. Feel free to do it daily, weekly, or monthly. Right now we've got thousands of people doing a lot of work on the site, but we don't have a clear way of being able to support one another. The goal of this thread is to help all of us see all the good work that is going on. Please ask any questions or share thoughts!
1. Meeting with Glen
2. Survey results draft
3. chats & problem-solving w/leaders
@GlenM
My latest 3+ things to support our Community since last posting:
- Found a great Mentor, the kind I've been waiting for, and I reached out to ask for their support, and they accepted. Yay!
- Posted a reply to Listener NewbieHub forum question. Explained my observations on "Listener demand variations". Also. . .
- Shared ItsDev's amazing 7 Cups of Tea Listener Starter Pack guide she keeps here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/18tEg_nNOLqw4slfe6DwXk0OXFpjJph1zRM3poxDfRwU/preview
- Had a very very long chat with someone who needed to think out their complicated thoughts and feelings about a potentially very stressful and risky major change they are considering making to their lives.
- Had a very long chat with someone having major problems in many areas and was able to help them understand their feelings and thoughts so they can cope. Also provided critical resource links especially crafted for them and their country and language.
- Earned Gratitude Abound Badge Yay!
- Figured out how to enter URLs in chats that have ? and & symbols,
yet prevent the 7Cups Chat App from truncating the link because of a bug in the chat app.
The trick is to replace the ? and & symbols with %hex equivalents %3F and %26.
For example this URL gets truncated by the Chat App at the ? mark and becomes dysfunctional as shown
because only the underlined part gets activated in the chat link:
www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/meetingtime.html?year=2019&month=12&day=10&p1=179&p2=240
But if I use a URL encoder tool I found on the web,
I can change the problematic ? and & symbols to their %hex equivalents
and then the Chat App doesn't mess up the URL like shown here which worked ok in chat
timeanddate.com/worldclock/meetingtime.html%3Fyear%3D2019%26month%3D12%26day%3D10%26p1%3D179%26p2%3D240
If you want to see what I mean, try pasting the 2 URLs into Noni. Then you can see how the first gets messed up by the chat app but the second one works.
This greatly helps me send proper working links to Members in chats
Follow up: I think the Chat App's Spell Checker might be causing the problem that's breaking URLs.
I sent a message to 7Cups so they know about the Chat App problem.
