Why is YouCanBookMe not anymore allowed?

Hi everyone,

A few days ago I was looking for a booking system for my chats as a listener in the community. I found a solution, YouCanBookMe, but I saw that they no longer allow using it (clickable).

@Heather225 stated in the linked post that the email was mandatory in YouCanBookMe, but maybe they didn't realize this: the booking form is customizable and the email can be removed.

This is how I just did it:

1) I entered YouCanBookMe, with my Google 7 Cups account.

2) I clicked on the "Pages" option and selected the page I had created.

3) I clicked on "Additional Options" and in the drop-down menu I clicked on Booking Form." Then, in the "Booking questions" section I deleted the email field and customized it.

This is why I suggest to the 7 Cups Community Management Team and the 7 Cups Community Safety Ambassadors to allow the use of YouCanBookMe as long as the email field is removed, following as an example the instructions provided in this post.

Thanks for bringing this up. The website was first introduced for scheduling on the site several years ago and we were able to edit out the e-mail portion and change it to username and that's what a lot of us did. Then, a few years later the booking site changed the way that you could edit the booking form and you could not remove the e-mail option or even edit it to change to require a username. Which is why this booking site was banned from us using it. 

I just took one of my other Google accounts and signed up for a new account on this booking site. I see that you can edit the e-mail part again and change it to require a username, which is great. For this tool to be used we would have to make sure that there is a lot of education for people to understand that they have to remove the e-mail part to use this booking tool.

I understand your perspective and your concern about security, and in fact, I share it. But, researching the forum, I saw that there was already a protocol to remove emails written by a former community manager, specifically in this post: https://www.7cups.com/forum/listenerjourney/CommunityAdministrationCultureandGuidelines_141/YouCanBookMeProtocol_45324/

If it was used before and it worked, why not now? I think we should take advantage of this, now that the platform again allows you to delete the email field from the booking form.

I insist, this tool seems very useful and necessary to me, since no other alternative is provided.

As explained in my previous message, when the rule was made, you couldn't edit the booking form to remove the e-mail. The admin probably has not been aware that the website went back and gave the option to remove the e-mail because they're not going to actively look at the booking site to see if it's usable. And yes we do have that education but it would need to be bumped up to community attention if admin allowed the use of this booking site again.
