What's wrong with some listeners?

yellowradio June 2nd, 2018

A listener just called me a "spastic" after I sent only 2 messages and then immediately blocked me. I'm not sure if my report has been delivered. You should be more careful about making everyone listeners. I feel incredibly angry because I couldn't respond. What that listener did is harassment. I took screenshots by the way.

@yellowradio - I'm very sorry that this happened to you. The management team take every listener review and report seriously. It's possible that there could've been a misunderstanding, but it's also possible that this listener really didn't treat you right. You can browse listeners here to find someone who might be more suitable for you. Feel free to use extra keywords to find exactly what you are looking for. Good luck!

@Chiaroscuro1 Thank you. I'm not sure you can report someone who blocked you. That's the problem.

The thing I've learned is that listeners are volunteers, they are not therapists. They are here to nonjudgmental listen to your issue, but it could have been too much info too fast for them.

Im sorry for your bad experience, I've had a few good listeners and a few who needed work.

I've learned that I can't be a listener yet as my problems will not let me focus.

@Rebekahwriter13 I'm sure it was just "too much info." They didn't even ask if the school was college. It is, by the way. I'm graduating from college. I took a gap year; so, that's why I didn't graduate last year. What they did is not volunteering at all. Listeners aren't volunteering to insult people here, right? Here are the screenshots for you:

Also, I have been using this website for four years. I have done some listening, too. This isn't how volunteering works.

@yellowradio

I`m sorry. I understand in taking time off.

On the school thing, you're not alone. It took me 6 years to get an associate of arts. The guidance counselors kept leading me into dead ends. I was education major at one point and the university I was working with kept changing and upgrading their classes.

I've had listeners say I've said too much at once, but you kept it simple. I think this site pushes people to be listeners before they are ready.

@Rebekahwriter13 I graduated in time apart from the gap year. If one wishes, they can get a bachelor's degree after they're 30 or 40. It doesn't matter when they start or finish. That's why it's called higher education.

And I don't think this site is pushing people to be listeners. It's your choice. You can choose not to do it if you don't want to, but it definitely doesn't give you the right to insult people just because you're doing it for free.

@yellowradio

Btw, congrats on graduation.

May I ask what are you worried about?

@Rebekahwriter13

Thank you. I got rejected from an MA program. One is pending. I'm also applying to another. I'm unemployed and my scholarship just ended. I feel very lonely in the process. And I feel hollow spending the whole day at home by myself.

@yellowradio

I wish you the best on the other program.

I have health issues keeping me from working daily. However when I had to find a job, I had a schedule, all calls and interviews between ten am and noon. 9 is too early and afternoon, which is when I prefer, most bosses are focusing on going home. I learned those two hours are when bosses focus on work.

I always have a hobby I do alone and hobby I do with friends. Just some ideas.

@Rebekahwriter13 yeah I'm sorry to hear about your experience. I am new here so I hope to find supportive relationships and am wondering if "Listener" needs to be better defined. I thought it was odd that I have already seen requests for me to be a listener.

That aside, I would say try not to be offended about the judgement, it was misplaced and there was apparently erroneous presumption as well. I started college in 1997, got my first associates in 2010 and my bachelor's in 2015. Everyone's life is different.

Congrats and good luck to you.

@yellowradio

I think you can report by email ,you have screen shots so will know the name, ive found this lately and its becoming more common and there blocking members so they will be less likely to report them.

Some listeners aren't really listeners. Guess there are good and bad ones.
