Hi. I made this account a long time ago but I'm just now coming back to it. I'm looking for a long term listener. I'm 18, in college, and trying to work that out. I don't need super frequent chats and I understand that people get busy, but being able to talk to someone familiar would be really nice. I only have one friend that I trust and I can sense she's getting fed up with my teen angst and thus I am here, so if anyone is up for the challenge let me know.

Hi, there, @faithfulNest5134 - and welcome to 7 Cups! It can be a little hard to get started, but I hope you do find the support you're seeking. As a listener, I was also nervous at first, and now I feel like I'm spending time with friends each time I log in. Take care!

@Hope
Hi. Kinda nervous.
Kept refreshing page to see if anything changed or attempt to kick me out but no.
Here goes!
My name is Bernadette, 41, diagnosed in 2004 with bipolar then many years later B1.
I have never been on a forum before but, I think this is perfect timing because my seasonal depression has once again hit and nothing is working and I am tired of going through this alone.
Usually my coping skills are writing or watching something funny, and even sleeping to make the days go by faster but, nothing's working I'm just in a daze.
My medication is lithium and the ziprasidone.
The kind of depression that I'm feeling at the moment since Sunday is just gloomy, foggy, irritated, frustrated, and very tired. I don't hate myself. I don't hate anybody else, I'm just blank! I don't feel the need to cry, I don't feel like laughing, I feel just like a zombie.(probably walking like one also)
I guess the medicine I am on makes me feel that numb and I hate it because when I didn't take medicine at least I can cry.
I have no energy and all I want to do is sleep.
I do have a full-time job 3rd shift which I have acclimated to. I love working there. I Go in get things done and leave.
My children are grown with one out of the house already. I do have a partner but, he's dealing with his own depression and alcoholism so, he is absolutely not there for me. I do feel lonely but that's all the time and kind of accepted that he will never be there for me.
I do not drink! I do smoke cigarettes my only vice.
I needed to write on this forum to people who can understand what I am going through because My whole family doesn't. They don't even talk about me having bipolar.
Thank you for reading I appreciate all of you 💗
@slothlife1979 I read everything. I don't know somehow I just want to hug you and tell you that you can tell me anything you wish.
@slothlife1979
Hello and welcome, I am new to this group as well but your story re-read touched me and I'm very happy that you could share it with us. You've gone through a lot. I also live in a world that no one quite understands me and I feel very alone and no support. I don't feel like I can truly talk to anybody in my family and they would understand what I'm going through. So if I can lend a supporting ear for you let me know. Seasonal depression is a very real difficult thing can make life very difficult to navigate through. Once again thank you so much for sharing you are very brave.
Hi everyone! I am a listener who signed up to make people feel heard and to help them talk out their depression/anxiety. I am hoping to gain confidence with one-on-one conversations and learn the best way to let people know I care about them and their specific situation.
Welcome, @delaneyk - enjoy the listener journey. I'm sure the people here will appreciate the care and support you are offering!
@Hope
I joined to help with my developmental disability (possibly on the spectrum) my mother beating me and me continously losing memory because of other trauma in my life.
@Supergirl9130
Welcome Supergirl! I love your name.
You can read through self help guides on the site or some mindfulness exercises. Take one day at a time 💙.
@Hope I have recently been diagnosed with Bipolar II Disorder. It would be helpful to engage with others like me. I do not know anyone else who is ~openly~ bipolar. I am having trouble getting past the stigma of this disorder, expressing to close friends and family that I am bipolar, and understanding what this diagnosis means to me.
@indigoTown6955
Hi😊 I understand where you're coming from because when I was diagnosed with bipolar I was very embarrassed to tell anyone let alone a partner. I didn't come to terms with it until I turned 35 that's 10 years later and still there's a lot of people in the world that don't understand what it is. I am 41 years old now and I proudly tell friends and family what I have and go even further to explaining what it is. Some still can't quite understand what it is so I always tell them you can read more about it online and though every bipolar is different I also add, please ask me any questions if you have.
Indigo town, just remember you are not bipolar you were diagnosed with bipolar it doesn't make you.
I'm here if you need because, I definitely need more people like you.
Keep your head up, Bernadette
I've been using the site for a short while, it helps distract me when I'm anxious. It's nice to speak to others who understand the condition.
@Eastcoastanxious - Welcome to 7 Cups. I hope that you start to feel more comfortable as you learn the features of this community. We are here to support you!
