Dear Community
I enjoyed celebrating Cupsgiving with all of you! A big thank you to all the people that cooked the meals, shared the pies/cookies, and took part in all of the programming. It was great to read the forum posts highlighting the impact of gratitude and generosity!
The big news in our world is that we released our local support systems. This is version 1 of us working to bridge online care with offline care. Many people come to 7 Cups looking for help on the ground - they might need access to a food pantry, a shelter, a therapist, a treatment center, or a faith organization. We often make referrals to these places, but we can now do it in a more deliberate manner.
Also, you’ll notice if you click here: 7cups.com/local [http://7cups.com/local], you’ll see that we have the beginnings of a parallel mental health system for each country (and many states in the US). We are highlighting the number of people we’ve helped, the number of listeners, and the top 50 mental health issues for each state or country. We hope that these pages become hubs for local support resources so that people can get better help. Feedback and ideas on how we could make this better are very welcome!
Last, we are also working on a simple but powerful intervention we are calling the transformation wheel. I’ve asked the team and ambassadors to help me strengthen it before I share it more broadly. Look for more on this in the next week or two.

It has been an eventful month on the teen side! Quests of Kindness continued with Weeks 2, 3, and 4 going live. Week 2 focused on kindness towards others, Week 3 on cultivating optimism, and Week 4 on building resilience. Teens and adult-teen listeners can still participate and catch up on tasks, the deadline to complete the challenge is December 15, 2024. Also, 100+ members took the Compassion quiz and earned the shiny badge, “Compassion Hero”. This quiz is a good way to evaluate how compassionate you are. Everyone who has taken the quiz so far loved it and as per their feedback and suggestions, we will be releasing the second compassion quiz by the end of December 2024. We are close to 300 compassionate heroes so far, We are looking forward to getting 500+ compassionate heroes by the end of the year. Hi everyone, When people look for help on the Web, they normally search for things like "I need someone to talk to" or "depression chat" in Google. Google then points them to 7 cups and we are able to help them. The Apple app store or Google Play store, unfortunately, does not do the same. It has a search box, but it is harder for people to find us there. One way we can help them find us and get help on 7 Cups is by providing a steady stream of reviews in the Google play store and Apple app store. In short, helping people through the app store is considerably harder than helping people on Google.
How can we make it easier for people to find us? The more reviews we add each week, the easier it is for people to find us. Towards that end, we've created a new badge for anyone that provides a review in the Google play store or Apple app store. It is called iGrow.
How do you get the badge? Simply leave us a review on either Google play or App store (depending upon whether you have an android or apple device) and then post here in this thread and we'll award the badge to you.

Improving the Browse Listeners (personal request) experience

Lately, it has become clear to me that the experience trying to find and chat with a specific listener (as opposed to making a general request for the next available listener with the "Connect Now" button), via the "Browse Listener" flow, currently leaves much to be desired.
There seem to be bugs that are increasing the risk of people getting ignored or left hanging, and some listeners also have trouble managing their availability.
I've heard that sorting by available listener does not (always?) work, that it would be nice to have people from your country or language sorted to the top by default, that the filtered search can be slow, and other things.
So, i thought I'd start a conversation here as I study these flows and mechanisms and try to work out the best ways to improve them in the near future.
Please share anything you are experiencing now or have noticed that makes browsing listeners and connecting with someone you requested specifically fail or not work as well as it should.
(Feel free to suggest solutions as well but you don't need to have an idea for how to fix a problem to tell me about the problem, and if you do propose a solution please be aware that we may recognize the problem and decide to solve it in another way, or as part of a more holistic improvement.)

Hello 7Cups community! This is a petition to try and get the old forum set up brought back. I understand that change can be good and it can lead us to bigger and better things. This latest forum update has caused some unhappy people. It's harder to follow threads and reply to them. On games where there is no reply button using the comment button will often take you back in years and your post gets lost in time travel. It's very confusing! I say there must be a better way! A way that can give the forums the updates they need but keep the features that the people who use forums the most enjoy. Maybe by voicing this we can convince those in charge to find a solution that we can all be happy with! The worst that can happen is they say no but it's worth a try! So feel free to add a yes on this post. With some luck they'll take us seriously and with alittle more luck this won't get me in trouble! I'm sorry if I tagged you and you'd rather not get involved. As someone who was struggling with both intense grief and loss; after I came back to this site after a break, it took me a long time before I realized those things were still supported here; but they were now under General Support. I think that feels inappropriate; and I never would have thought to look there, because it seems to me likely to be a very different type of person and issue that would cause someone to look into general support, rather than someone looking for specific help to due to going through intense grief over the traumatic death of someone close to them as I was.
I understand that that area wasn't actually being used that much; but somehow having it under the area of General Support seems even worse, because it feels so dismissive to me, as if it's not a serious enough this to be allowed it's own area. Or even to be mentioned in the title would have made it at least easier to find (e.g. General Support + Grief and Loss). I'm not sure how to solve this exactly, but I think this is something that needs to be addressed. If it was easier to find / signposted better maybe more people could actually find support there? Or maybe it would be better to let it have it's own area, even if it wasn't used as much. Because it's such an important topic.
Intrested if anyone else has any thoughts about this?

Hey, I started an Android thread [/forum/Welcome_27/KrinksStudio_542/Android_32152/] the other day as we started testing the new Android app but I also should have started this thread because the innards of some tabs of the new app went live over the weekend and changed the iPhone app and also broke some things etc., and I owed y'all a heads up, so sorry about that!
We hope to publish the Android update today and then fix a few things on the iPhone side and submit the app for its review in the App Store.
I will post updates here and say more about what to expect from the initial (2.0) update and how we plan to keep improving the app from now on.

If anyone has any other app-related issues that they've been dealing with frequently, please post below! Here are mine:
1. If I scroll up on a group support chat to reread something and then close the app, if I open it again, the chat will be stuck in the place where I left off and will not automatically scroll to the latest messages.
2. When viewing listener profiles under "Browse Listeners", clicking "Show More" to read more of their profile works for the first few profiles, but then doesn't expand and I cannot read the rest of the information.
3. It's rare that I get notifications on time, I'd say they're generally at least 15 minutes behind (which is a bigger issue when I'm on my listener account). Notifications within 7 Cups don't always work either (i.e. the blue dot indicating a new 1-1 message), which has caused some problems in the past.
I know that the app is constantly being improved, and I'd like to thank the developers for making huge changes already. I just wanted to acknowledge what's been going on and bring it to the attention of people who may be able to help, instead of using "Ugh, sorry, I'm on mobile." as an excuse. Thank you! :D
