What are some ways that have helped you not self harm? I feel like an addict who needs their next fix only for me it's cutting. I've haven't cut in 10days and I'm healing well from previous cutting. But I need new ideas on how to fight the urge. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Did you seek a therapist? I hope you have a good support system. It cannot be easy.

I'm not knowledgeable on the subject but I was finding that rocking and cradling myself while in bed is soothing and keeps arms occupied.

I was trying some self compassion mindfulness as well but I don't always feel it so I still need to learn self love

@brokenangel04

Hey Angel,

I understand feeling addicted to self harm. I'm glad to hear that you haven't self harmed in 10 days. But I can definetely see how that could be a struggle for you. I understand that you need new ideas on how to fight the urge. Suggestions would be coping-strategies.pdf (gloucestershireselfharm.org)

Butterfly Project instead of Self Cutting (adolescentselfinjuryfoundation.com)

Some ideas what you could do instead like, draw a butterfly and you have to keep it alive, If you self harm you have to start over again. I hope this link helps you. I hope you feel better soon as well. Know that you're not alone in this and 7 cups is beside you. Please take care of yourself and your mental health. I hope this message finds you safe and healthy

I listen to music. It doesn't always work but sometimes it helps to relax me so I don't do as many cuts as I would without it. Maybe that would help?
