Eid Al Fitr Mubarak 2024
As Salamu Alaikum, I hope you are doing well. It feels like a few days ago when I wished you all Ramadan Mubarak! Here we are at the end of this month now preparing for Eid. Such is the speed of life! I hope you were able to do all that you set out to do this month. As we say goodbye to Ramadan, it is time to welcome Eid al-Fitr. It is one of the major celebrations for Muslims.
The three-day festival celebrates the completion of the fasting month of Ramadan by Muslims across the world. Usually, the first day is the most celebrated. Eid al-Fitr follows Ramadan when the new moon is sighted. Ramadan can last 29 or 30 days. You can read more here. Eid is either tomorrow for some countries and the day after tomorrow for others (countries usually differ a day).
What happens on Eid al Fitr?
- Before the Eid prayer, Muslims worldwide give a form of charity called Zakat-al-Fitr, it is to be given as food to the needy. Read more on that here.
- Women apply Henna/Mehandi the night or two before Eid.
- New clothes or the best clothes available are worn by Muslims
- A special prayer is offered called the Eid prayer early in the morning. Muslims usually offer it after wearing their best clothes. It is in a congregation, typically held at mosques and other big available places.
- People meet their families, and exchange gifts and the children often get Eidi which is cash from the adults. It is usually the highlight of the day for the children, counting the money they got!
Do note, that Eid does not look the same for everyone! Some people can not afford new clothes, others are living far away from family, some maybe sick or dealing with a loss. If this Eid is a challenging one for you, 7 Cups is here for you! Do reach out to a listener for support here.
Do you wish to make Eid-related posts? You can post in the Islam space of this sub-community.
If you are not a Muslim, you are still welcome to wish Muslims Eid Mubarak, you of course don’t have to if you wish not to but feel free to if you want to!

To all those celebrating
- What are you most looking forward to on Eid?
Probably dressing up! This will be my first Eid away from home, so I do not have any plans. However, I figured I can still dress up and take pictures!
- Share one fond Eid memory with us!
Definitely the Eids from when I was younger! Going from house to house, eating lots of good food, meeting different people.

@Hope Eid Mubarek to you and everyone celebrating
Under the crescent moon, Eid whispers soft,
A festival of joy, yet my heart alofts,
In muted celebrations, draped in a silent shroud,
Among the laughter, I walk unseen, unbowed.
Decades stretch behind, a trail of Eid's past,
Once vibrant hues, now shadows cast.
The meaning of festivity, lost in sands of time,
A melody forgotten, no reason, no rhyme.
New clothes hang untouched, gatherings I evade,
A mimic of happiness, a masquerade well-played.
Yet behind the smile, a void expansive and deep,
Where unshed tears and muted sorrows sleep.
The living dead, they say, among the throng,
Moving, breathing, but no heartbeat strong.
For others, I exist, a selfless mime,
A silent giver, till the end of time.
Blessings abundant, from the Almighty's hand,
Yet the zest for life, like a wisp of strand,
Slips through fingers, a phantom's guise,
A soul searching for its lost prize.
What is a celebration, but a heartbeat's cheer?
A moment of laughter, a drop of tear.
I've danced for many, a selfless jive,
Yet wonder, have I truly been alive?
For every soul I've touched, was it a balm or ache?
Have I mended bridges, or left hearts to break?
In the twilight of years, I ponder, I muse,
Searching for answers, amidst life's hues.
Eid arrives, a reminder of life's fleeting lease,
A prayer for meaning, for a heart's ease.
May the days ahead, with purpose be rife,
To awaken within, the true essence of life.
Eid Mubarak, even when the heart quietly quests,
For the joy once known, in the heart's silent chest.
May the crescent moon above, and the festive flair,
Rekindle a spark, for the life I yearn to share.

Thats so beautiful I dont know what to say. May you find what youre searching for, now and always 🤍 Eid Mubarak, friend. Eid Mubarak
@unassumingEyes Thank you very much. I've realized very late that life is not meant to have anything.
It is either to share what you get or wait for what you are destined to get.
May you all have a Beautiful Life and get what is Best for you.
Eid Mubarak to Every Soul who reads now or in the future.
