Group Chat
I wish we could have a group chat for the religion and spirituality community. I understand the potential challenges that can arise in religious discussion, but i believe a non-religious spirituality chat could be a valuable platform. I'm eager to engage with spiritually-educated individuals and have meaningful conversation.
Edits: @ASilentObserver I wish this post reach out to you!
@pandanfe I am of a like mind. Have you considered mindfulness as a possible option in the meantime while a spirituality discussion evolves? We ioften take spiritual development ideas and weave them into being aware and mindful. Many spiritual practices have mindfulness as a foundation of their practice.
Here is the schedule that includes mindfulness discussions. https://www.7cups.com/forum/50plus/QAsDiscussionsResources_1770/50plusDiscussionsandTopicsOcttoDec2023_207920/
I am a host or moderator and we use templates with questions for the topic discussions. I find that these stay on topic rather than open chat which tends to go all over the place. In the case of spirituality, this might not lead to a constructive conversation.
What do you think of this as a way to see how a discussion could be structured that might work in spirituality?
@soulsings
Thank you for the heads up. I'll take a look. Also i feel like 'mindfulness' is a specific term, and 'spirituality' encompasses a board range of topics, including auras, the occult, various spiritual techniques, shamanism and more.
@pandanfe I guess of all the ones you mentioned, the one that harmonizes with me most is mindfulness. It is a proven technique to lead to inner calm. I have dabbled in many things. I feel now I need to focus as I am in the second half of life.
@soulsings
Thank you so much for sharing your experience with mindfulness. I truly appreciate the positive impact it has had on your life, and i completely understand it's value. I've been practicing mindfulness for as long as I can remember. However, my personal journey is about exploring a wide range of techniques and philosophies. I believe that there're many paths to spiritual growth, and my goal is not just inner peace, but also to gain knowledge about different aspects of spirituality and share those with others who are interested. I think it's wonderful that people can choose what works for them, just as mindfulness has been so beneficial for you. I hope we can learn from each other and support one another on our unique paths.
@pandanfe thank you for your kind and supportive words.
I found the Dalai Lama to be one of the moste open minded spiritual leaders. When I read some of his texts I feel at home. He says his religion is kindness. He is so kind and compassionate to everyone. I aspire to that open heartedness that I feel in him.
@soulsings
I completely agree with you about the Dalai Lama. He's so kind and compassionate that when one sees him talking, they automatically feel inspired to strive for the same Bodhisattva qualities.
@soulsings I often meditate on Verses in the Bible. When I meditate on them, it has a deeper meaning for me.
@calmMango9611 meditating on any spiritual text has also helped me have a deeper understanding an appreciation of a spiritual message.
