A story (need suggestions)
Hello everyone! (: this could trigger some people so read carefully!
I wasn't sure where to even ask, but since this site has a lot of experienced people; I think that it is suitable.
I am planning on writing a story. I have a rough outline of the events planned out and some characters that I have been making.
Now here's the problem; there's a character that is essential, yet I can't think of a reasonable way to make that character overcome his "crisis" and become happier.
This character has given up on struggling, and is pretty much at the lowest point of his life, and there are circumstances in the story that puts a limit of about a week to two weeks at most for the MC (main character) of the story to make this character feel better (or rather, reignite the character's will to live), otherwise, it's game over!
This character is inspired from someone I know.
Now the question is... How do you handle a situation like this?
How do you convince someone you don't know to hold on in such little time? Let alone if that person is aware of his own thoughts and how wrong they are, yet they don't care? They don't care whether they are there or not, they don't have anyone around to hear them out or stop them, they find the thought of the word "future" bothersome and bleak.
I have thought of many ways to approach this issue, yet they all seem to lack consideration or be unrealistic.
I forgot to mention that the story has a time loop, so I plan on the MC making mistakes at first and gradually figuring out a way to solve the issue.
I would appreciate your thoughts on this matter. Please suggest different ways to approach this character, no matter how wild or out of place they may seem, because I can incorporate quite a lot of different scenarios in the story.
By the way, I know this matter is serious, and I know someone who struggles with the same issue, I have gone through it before also, yet different people find different ways to gain "salvation". And my own perspective and experiences are quite lacking to write something that would resonate with all kinds of different people. That is why I am seeking perspectives from all you fine people! (:
Also, if there are any useful suggestions, I would consider using them whenever I am listening.
Thanks in advance!

This happened to my friend. Make MC meet a cat and bring her home, they will get attached to it in such little time and she will save them. She might not change their perspectives or make them care about themselves, but she will still make them stay, because they wouldn’t be able to imagine her alone, scared, and confused on where they went?
@GATTP MC wins the lottery
MC pushes a baby stroller out of the way of a bus
MC learns of an unsolved mystery and realizes they have some info and becomes obsessed with tracking down clues
MC gets into psychedelic micro dosing
MC accidentally gets shocked or bit by a spider or something like that and it changes their mood
MC seeks out a psychic
MC inherits an orphanage and plenty of money to run it
MC discovers the secret to gravity or unlimited energy
MC wakes up one morning to see a beautiful bird on window and it seems to be a message that things are getting better
if you believe in God, you can go for this, because i feel like, anything other than turning to God for a miracle, won’t look realistic. overcoming such a situation (that became a whole way of living and thinking) in a week or two, is a little unrealistic. remember however that not every story ends with a happy ending :') and your story could be used as awareness too. 💕
@sophielations
Yeah, I agree. Honestly, my friend that I know, is only holding on right now because of his believe in God, and he doesn't want to "go away" because it is forbidden.
I thought of incorporating that aspect somehow, but since there are so many different religions and even non-religious people, I thought it wouldn't resonate with people as much as it should.
That is why I am thinking of making the character have "faith" in a different light. Faith that should exist in everyone, such as believing that not everyone is bad, and things could always look up at any time, you just have to look forward instead of thinking back on all your sufferings and regretting things.
@GATTP
Because of his belief* in God
Ugh I hate typos
@GATTP
yes you are right, you worded this so perfectly too, i can tell you’re talented🥹 good luck with your story! i hope we get to read it
@GATTP
How about this. Sometimes the most simple thing is the most effective. Although I am currently still having mental health problems. But one thing that helped me for a while is just the presence of someone else. If that character is someone who is extremely introverted, they would be less likely to enjoy a company which is interrogative and intrusive to their life. Rather, the person might enjoy someone just being by their side. Hope this helps a bit.
@JanusPi
That's definitely something to consider! Sometimes, as insignificant as it may seem, just a little amount of kindness that is used towards someone in the right circumstances and in the right way without diving into their privacy and being pushy is the best way to help them.
That aside, I wish you the best in overcoming whatever hurdles you are facing! It can be tough sometimes, I hope you always have someone by your side to make you feel better. If you ever feel the need to talk to someone to vent, you can send me a message! (:
