Recently Diagnosed

Starilus April 2nd, 2021

Hi, I recently got diagnosed with borderline personality disorder, I'm just wondering what are some management strategies for it? To make it easier to deal with, if it's possible at all. Thank you to anyone who takes their time to answer :)

Thank you for posting! It might help first to make a list of the most disrupting symptoms you experience. Which symptoms prevent you from living a healthy, happy life the most? Afterwards, you can tackle your worst symptoms with DBT skills

Most disruptive is the amount of mood swings I go through every like 2 seconds, from hyperactive and overjoyed to depressed and tired.

@Starilus Mood swings can be really difficult to cope with. There are skils called DBT which can help you be more mindful and regulate emotions.

@Starilus

There is strong evidence that certain types of psychotherapy can reduce the symptoms of BPD.

These five types of psychotherapy are:
* dialectical behavior therapy (DBT)
* mentalization-based treatment (MBT)
* schema-focused therapy (SFT)
* transference-focused psychotherapy (TFP)
* systems training for emotional predictability and problem solving (STEPPS)
