About Mindfulness

amiablePeace77 November 28th, 2020

Hi everyone, I hope you are all doing well heart

Mindfulness isn’t about “fixing” you

Mindfulness is not about stopping your thoughts

Mindfulness does not belong to a religion

Mindfulness is not an escape from reality

Mindfulness is not a panacea

“Mindfulness is awareness that arises through paying attention, on purpose, in the present moment, non-judgmentally”

How do you practise mindfulness?

Do you have any questions about mindfulness? smiley

@Asherwolfice

Nice asherwolfice, sound like relaxation and fun in one package smiley. Coloring has the ability to relax the fear center of your brain, the amygdala.

I am still learning how to be Mindful, But I like to go out on my deck and sit down and observe everything around me. The noises, the scenes, the air, the sky. I try to feel the chair I am sitting on and any other sensations. Remembering this moment only.

My question is how to make that space less harder to achieve?

amiablePeace77 OP December 2nd, 2020

@scarletPear1945

That sounds like a wonderful practise scarletPear. Getting in touch with our senses is very grounding. What I realized with myself is that the more I do want to achieve a certain state of mind, the less it happens. Relaxation comes much easier to me when I just give in to the moment, just sit, observe and be okay with that state.

I try and be mindfull most of the time. I love being mindful when I'm listening to music or going for a walk. Those are some of the best times for me.

How do you practise mindfulness? I meditate but also bring mindfulness into simple things like washing dishes and cleaning chores.

smileyDo you have any questions about mindfulness? I am always interested in how others bring mindfulness active in their own life. Making mindfulness active in every day life is true success.

@soulsings

Nice soul, mindfulness can truly be brought to anything in life, it makes everything better, even washing the dishes laugh.

I believe it's all about practising mindfulness, really doing it with intention, not just for a few minutes but making it a priority.

I practise Mindfulness by: breathing more slowly, consider my feelings and know that they are just feelings, not react but take a step back and breathe, care for myself firstheart

@RumpleSteeleSkin

Nice Rumple!

Sometimes feelings can make us say or do things we regret lateron so it makes a lot of sense to me to step back for a moment and not react immediately.

Hi, I have a question about mindfulness.

Does mindfulness help with anxiety or depression?

1 reply
amiablePeace77 OP December 18th, 2020

@amiableTurtle9543

Hi there, thanks for your question. A regular practice can help your brain better manage stress and anxiety that can trigger depression. Meditation trains the brain to be able to focus better , and to return to that focus when negative thinking, emotions, and physical sensations intrude. You can start with a few minutes per day and build up from there. smiley
