The effects of anxiety is enormous for some people.  Anxiety is different to everyone, some know how to deal with it while others have a hard time, but it can affect not only our minds but our physical health also.

Some examples of mental effects are :

excessive worrying

feeling on edge a lot

restlessness

The physical effects are:

Racing hearts or fluttering sensation

Muscle tension

Dizziness

difficult to breathe

Meditation can help with both to ease our anxiety. Studies have been shown that by meditating we can soothe those feelings and become calm.

Thank you for this informative thread pam!

Meditation helps me a great deal to calm myself and find balance again. When I feel very stressed body scans or deep breathing meditation help me most, but I also like informal meditation like Tai Chi.

Meditating can certainly help me when I'm really anxious, but only in certain ways. In order to release much of that anxious energy, I have to do walking/moving meditations. It's really the only way I can meditate effectively. :)

Meditating is different and done  different by people, what may help one person may not someone else. It is all in how it works for ourselves

I would like to make an amendment to the sitting position. TRY to sit in the "Louts" position so you can relax into your pelvic floor and exercise those muscles as you sit. Keep your spine straightened.
