@amiablePeace77 Always a pleasure to see your thought-provoking posts!
Some prompts that I would find helpful to document if I journaled negative thoughts would be:
How else can interpret this thought? What else could I say instead of my initial thought? Is there evidence to show that this thought is true?
Thank you for posting. 💓
@amiablePeace77 oh I'm not great at journaling. But possibly what can I do to distract myself right now? How can I stop the same thing happening tomorrow? What one thing I can I do that would benefit me the most right now?

What kind of prompts (questions) would you find helpful to put in such a journal next to the negative thought?
Prompts:
1. What are some negative thoughts that come to mind?
2. How do you feel at this moment?
3. Do you think that thinking negatively is affecting your mind and body? If so, how?
4. What are the triggers that is causing me to think negatively?
5. How can I reframe my negative thoughts to more positive ones?

What kind of prompts (questions) would you find helpful to put in such a journal next to the negative thought? By me writing negative thoughts in a journal is like a to - do list to go back and work on those thoughts to make them positive
Example: What evidence contradicts this thought? sometimes it is hard to write negative thoughts because I feel it is letting myself down or judging myself
@pamharley003
Pam, I believe we should only do what feels right for us. If this exercise does not feel right, it might be better to do a different kind. You do not want to cause more suffering.
Great idea! I like the idea of putting down something negative to get it out of me, not carry it around, then see it there in front of me noticing it's a negative thought that may or may not help me. Usually negative thoughts don't help me, so I like your idea of realizing that the negative thoughts could be changed into something positive. It wouldn't feel like an obligation for me, it would just serve as a record, a space to sort out and realize my thoughts.
Usually I catch the negative ones in my head as soon as they happen, and realize right away - hey, this isn't serving me, so I don't bother writing them down. And I change my thought in the moment. But if there are lingering ones, it maybe helpful to get it down in text in front of my eyes.
"Is this thought serving/helping me?" If no, let it go.
