by DreamTouch
Last post
December 9th
...See more Hello LDP trainees 💜 Exciting news! We now have two options available for you to graduate with honors. Here are the updated options: Option 1:  Getting an honor role  So what tracks comes under honor roles? - Chatroom Mentor - Quality Mentor - Teen Chatroom Mentor - Teen Quality Mentor - Community/Forum Mentor - Support Team Leader - Academy Mentor - SPOT Team Member If you already have these roles, no need to do anything! You will automatically be considered for honors and your certificate will reflect the same. Anyone who comes into the LDP with a leadership role is strongly recommended to look through and apply to become a mentor! Like we know, with great power comes great responsibility. So please only carefully apply for these roles as they do involve serious commitment to the community and the wellbeing of it.  Option 2 - Sharing your testimonial Write a testimonial post/article on Linkedin or Medium about your experience in Leadership Development Program, following the instructions detailed here [https://docs.google.com/document/d/1fgWX4hDVfYdadEt2npDCm6dhaebTfbyFCJLjtgw4WTM/edit?usp=sharing]. Reflect on your journey, articulate your growth, and share insights that can inspire others! If you've chosen this option as an elective, you can complete your testimonial on a different platform than your elective. Please note that you cannot use the same post or platform for both your Honors and elective submissions. If you have any questions regarding the elective, please feel free to PM a LDP mentor [https://www.7cups.com/forum/LeadershipDevelopmentProgram_202/LeadershipDevelopmentTrack_2138/LDPMentorsTeam_240813/]! ------------------------- This post is brought to you by the Leadership Development Program Team, find out more information about the program here [https://www.7cups.com/forum/LeadershipDevelopmentProgram_202/LeadershipDevelopmentTrack_2138/LeadershipDevelopmentProgramUpdatesAnnouncement_230561/].

It is a learning opportunity based on the teachings of the book ‘Get Together: How to Build a Community with Your People [https://www.amazon.com/Get-Together-build-community-people/dp/1732265194].' The book is written by authors who are experts on community building. We encourage anyone who is interested in community building and management to read the book but it's optional. We have studied the book and summarized the key lessons and their 7 Cups applications. The course will go on for 4 weeks, each week we will look at the findings of two chapters and how the principle knowledge can be applied to 7 Cups. Each week's learning will be accompanied by a quiz to test the knowledge! In order to receive your certificate and the Community Builder badge, you need to complete all quizzes (80% or over-score in all + no copy/pasting for essay questions), and submit the evaluation form. Failure to submit the evaluation form will result in no certificate or badge. Note: Each quiz contains a field where we ask you to apply some of the chapter's teachings. These are essay questions so they are not auto-graded however if a user is found to be copy/pasting the answers to satisfy the word count or not putting in the effort to come up with a relevant answer then the person will not receive a certificate or a badge. This is not a mandatory course so if you choose to take part then please try to study the notes and be honest in your answers. It is the only way to learn! Note:  If you intend to use Artificial Intelligence tools to help you fulfill any of the course’s requirements, you are expected to adhere to our AI policy. You can read it here. Dinner With Our Alumni: jersey123456

...See more Hello all! Happy Tuesday! I am excited to announce a new mid-week dinner! For those that don't know, Dinner With Our Alumni is a series of small interviews that I conduct with 7 Cups Academy alumni to know more about their journey in the program - this post is dedicated to the Leadership Development Program! The aim is to spread more awareness about the program and hope everyone gives it a read! Today, we have @jersey123456! Jersey has been a part of 7 Cups for over 2 years now. They are an Academy Mentor for the CDM program and they truly enjoy the role. They joined cups to make a small difference, to remind people that there's always a rainbow after the rain. Perhaps, a person alone cannot make a big difference, but one can always contribute to that big difference. They truly believe that their purpose to be on 7 Cups is to extend a hand towards those who think that they're alone. The world might seem big, but in actuality it's small and everyone is going through something - let's be kind to us and others and help in making the world a better place one small difference at a time. Outside of Cups, Jersey a freshman studying computer and date science engineering (Wow, smaaaaart!). They absolutely LOVE reading, writing, watching anime and series (currently obsessed with k-dramas), listening to music (read Taylor Swift haha) and movies. During the pandemic, one of their favorite hobbies was to hop on Youtube and try to cook any random recipe. What was on dinner? So much - I had food coma! Pizza, wonton, noodles, blueberry cheesecake and Stracciatella ice cream and black coffee with a hint of vanilla essence. We could've gone further, but our foodie alert kicked in! So without further ado, here's Jersey: What made you join the LDP program? I was mostly looking to broaden my horizons and I enjoy doing courses in my free time. Leadership is really an important trait to develop, and I thought LDP would be the perfect way to develop leadership qualities (spoiler alert: it indeed was the perfect way!). How was your experience doing the coursework? The coursework was so interesting and informative. I learned about myself and so many new things altogether. The coursework made me think so much about what it means to become a true leader and changed a lot of my preconceived notions. I think the most important part was that I had lots of fun and enjoyed while I learnt! Did you find it easy to navigate through the forums for each course? Yes, the first document had all the links and it made navigation easy. I also kept in check with which coursework I was doing and what was already done. So navigation was super super easy! Cookies for the LDP Team! How did you dedicate your time to doing the coursework? There were times when I did some of the coursework at a stretch which helped me focus, then took some breaks and repeated. For big courseworks, I divided into smaller bits, which made it easier to work on. Which course did you like the most? And why? My favorites would be course 1 - it was so insightful learning more about myself , more specifically the big 5 and the quizzes. I didn't know about these until I did LDP. The coursework also helped me think a lot about certain situations in general and helped me understand better about certain things. Another favorite would be course 4 - it really made me think about the definition of leader in general and what being a leader mean to me. It's also where a lot of my perceptions changed, so I had fun understanding and thinking about what the word 'leader' truly entails. What role did you get into after the program? How are you liking the role you got into for the LDP? I became an Academy Mentor for CDM program and it has been such a memorable and learning experience for me. I really enjoy performing my responsibilities and I'm learning new things everyday! Shoutout to the CDM team <3333 If you had to give one tip to the current trainees, what would that be? Have fun and enjoy what you're doing! There's a quote that says, "Do what you love and you'll never work a day in your life," and I believe it can also be applied here, just enjoy the program, take it at your own pace and don't forget to take breaks, and if you get stuck, reach out to the mentors. They are always there to help you out. Good luck to all the current trainees! You're amazing! What can we do to make the program better? LDP is perfect the way it is. Thank you to the entire LDP Team for making this intricately well designed informative and interesting program and for always having our backs throughout the program! Huge shoutout to the LDP Team!!!! Appreciate y'all so much ❤🤗 Thank you for reading till here! This was an absolutely delightful interview to do and read over and over again. I would love to hear any suggestions/question ideas that I can add to this series. If you are an LDP graduate and would love to contribute, please PM me so we can set up our dinner! Meanwhile, please give a big shout-out to @jersey123456 for doing this, you're amazing! ...See more Hello all! It’s been a while but I am excited to announce a new mid-week dinner! Today, we have @rrretsuko! Often goes by Suko, they're a listener on 7 Cups and absolutely loves supporting others. They also love animals! Guess their favorite? Bunnies! Apart from that, Suko loves writing as well and is a proud vegan (music to Toast ears)! What was on dinner? Soup, sushi, and donuts! (Full package and all vegan :')) So here's Suko for you all: What made you join the LDP program? I joined the LDP program in order to improve my leadership skills/qualities and to be more involved with the community ❤️ I really think this site has so much to offer for people reaching out for support as well as people who would love to help others by giving them that support 😊 So, it is important to try and better your skills in whatever way you can. Enrolling into the program was a great opportunity for that! How was your experience doing the coursework? The coursework wasn’t too difficult! I really enjoyed participating in the forum discussions and they actually taught me a lot about what my strengths are and things I could work on as far as leadership and personality goes 😊 Did you find it easy to navigate through the forums for each course? Yes, it was very easy! ❤️ I do like how there are subcategories for each course that lays out each discussion number in front of you 😊 so you can just do them in order very easily! How did you dedicate your time to doing the coursework? I made sure to prioritize things like school and volunteering first, of course haha. Then, I’d spend a few hours every two/three days or so just focusing on completing coursework ❤️ Which course did you like the most? And why? I really liked course 2 in the program! I strongly believe that a big (yet very essential) obstacle listeners must overcome is not wanting to accept feedback/constructive criticism ❤️ in course 2, the discussions teach you the importance of accepting feedback, providing feedback, and putting feedback to use as a listener. We all have things we can improve on and the one thing that makes a great leader is their willingness to accept feedback and act upon it 😊 What role did you get into after the program? How are you liking the role you got into for the LDP? I was already a chatroom moderator for the eating disorder support and newbie hub chatrooms! ❤️ However, I am definitely still enjoying my roles and I get to meet some amazing people because of them 😊 I love making sure the chatrooms are safe, supportive, respectful, and welcoming for everyone. If you had to give one tip to the current trainees, what would that be? Take your time doing the discussions– there’s no need to rush through them as long as you manage your time wisely! There’s a lot you can learn from the program and taking in all of that information can really benefit you and improve your skills 😊 Don’t just complete the program to receive the badge – do it for yourself and the people you want to support ❤️ What can we do to make the program better? I honestly think that the program is great as is! I’m really happy I could do the training for it! Thank you for reading till here! I would love to hear any suggestions/question ideas that I can add to this series. If you are an LDP graduate and would love to contribute, please PM me so we can set up our dinner! Meanwhile, please give a big shout-out to @rrretsuko for doing this, you're amazing!

Today, we have @kindFish9215! Fish is currently a 3rd year full-time university student in the Life Science program and is a Canadian. They have an interest in working for the healthcare field, particularly in public health or epidemiology (nerrrrd - jk, very ambitious :o)! Fish also loves to work with animals and be a researcher on finding ways to conserve animal populations! Essentially, our Fish is an avid animal lover (ditto!) 😊 Fish's hobbies are reading, playing the piano, watching Netflix and Youtube, and walking their dog. What was on dinner? Pasta, without a doubt! So without further ado, here's Fish: What made you join the LDP program? Since I was also part of the 7 cups internship, one of my requirements was to graduate in another academy program. There were a variety of academy programs offered by 7 cups, but I chose the LDP program in particular because this would drive me into enrolling in a 7 cups leadership role and therefore being more involved in the 7 cups community aside from being a volunteer listener. I felt that being more involved in the 7 cups community would look good to put on my CV, showing off my leadership experience which would look attractive to future employers. Speaking of that, another reason why I joined the LDP program is to improve my leadership skills which would come in handy in my career once I join the workforce. How was your experience doing the coursework? Overall, I'd say that my experience has been pretty good. The content was really easy to understand and I learned new things everyday from taking that course. Did you find it easy to navigate through the forums for each course? For me personally, it was pretty straightforward, but only because I bookmarked a lot of the forums. Without bookmarking them, you'd find it difficult to navigate through all the forums since there are so many links to click through. So being organized is really important when taking the LDP program, otherwise you might end up being too overwhelmed with navigating all the forums and links. How did you dedicate your time to doing the coursework? Everyday, I set a certain amount of time to dedicate my time into completing the coursework. For me personally, I set around 1-2hrs everyday into working through the coursework. Which course did you like the most? And why? I'd say that course 4 was my favorite because it was about understanding my leadership style. I found that it was important for me to better understand my own leadership style, that way I know what kind of leadership style would work best for me when taking on leadership roles both in the 7 cups community and in my career. What role did you get into after the program? How are you liking the role you got into for the LDP? I got three roles: peer supporter, room supporter, and sharing circle host. So far, I am liking my roles. Everyone is very kind and supportive of me with my roles, especially the sharing circle host. 😊 If you had to give one tip to the current trainees, what would that be? I'd say, keep on track with your courses (don't leave them all to the last minute), and apply to leadership roles as early as possible. Don't make the mistake I made, where I didn't apply for leadership roles until the very end. This is because I was rushing and stressing about making sure I got a leadership role in order to graduate. What can we do to make the program better? In my opinion, I don't have any recommendations. Thank you for reading till here! I would love to hear any suggestions/question ideas that I can add to this series. If you are an LDP graduate and would love to contribute, please PM me so we can set up our dinner! Meanwhile, please give a big shout-out to @kindFish9215 for doing this, you're amazing! ...See more Hello everyone! Here's hoping that everyone is doing well and staying safe For this week, we have a wonderful LDP graduate. For all those that are new, the dinner series is a series of small interviews that I do with the Leadership Development Program (LDP) alumni to spread more awareness about the program and to hopefully help out our current trainees. Make some noise for @TextingPals! TextingPals usually goes by Pals or Tex. You must've seen them roaming here and there in our community! They are the pride "bunny" of 7 Cups. Pals has been a listener with us since February 2020 and holds various roles in the community. They love reading books, so much so that sometimes they infuse reality into fiction. They also like to read people and observe them. They claim they are disastrous at cooking but we can attest to that if they cook for us! What was on the menu? Quite a feast: Ice creams, Pizzas, Pasta, Chicken, seafood, chocolates, coffee Without further ado: What made you join the LDP? To be frank, initially, I was keen on developing my personal leadership skills. Hence the program. However, I am glad I took part in this for an entirely different reason now: I got to learn a lot of things and the courses changed how I looked at things. For eg. I found out that LDP was based on the principle "true leaders don't create followers, they create more leaders," which is not what I used to believe originally. How was your experience doing the coursework? It was phenomenal. Starting with the onboarding and the requirements, the documents were easy to understand with requirements clearly stated. No complexity, no extra words. Simple and crisp. Secondly, the coursework. At first, I felt they were a lot to work on, I was overwhelmed with the number of discussions a single course had. However, as I worked on it, I realized I was having fun. They were enlightening. Did you find it easy to navigate through the forums for each course? Yes, navigation was simple. All the links to the courses were mentioned in the coursework document. Moreover, the discussion-redirecting links were mentioned pretty neatly and clearly at the end of each forum as well, which helped a lot. How did you dedicate your time to doing the coursework? As I said, I was overwhelmed at the start so I took most of my time- almost two weeks for my first course. Then I completed course two in another week. Took a break for the next week. Course three and four were done in the next one. For course five, I took a week and a half. And ta-da, there you go, a shiny badge and certificate are all yours, waiting for you. Which course did you like the most? And why? I liked the first one and the fourth one. The first one was all about self-awareness: my personality, how I can assist this community better, understanding my strengths, and embracing my weaknesses. What role did you get into after the program? How are you liking the role you got into for the LDP? I was already a leader working for various teams so I didn't have to get into a leadership role to graduate. If you had to give one tip to the current trainees, what would that be? The moment you get your coursework, make a schedule on how you are going to divide your time and complete the course. You will feel much more organized and less burdened. Try to take a break here and there, don't exhaust yourself. A very important message that I have always wanted to send out to people: don't take part in the course or more importantly, don't apply for a role just for the sake of applying for it or to look like an “important” person, the role deserves more respect than that and you need to cultivate a passion for what you are working on. Lastly, please, don't stress out, you can do this. Believe in yourself, cause we all believe in you. What can we do to make the program better? Introducing practical experiences, as in, experiences other than the courses and discussions. Those, I believe, would be a great way to implement what we learned. I agree the new leaders enrolling themselves into this do have the opportunity. ...See more Hello everyone! I hope all of you are staying phenomenal and safe For this week, we have a very special LDP graduate with us for dinner. For all those that are new, the dinner series is a series of small interviews that I do with the Leadership Development Program (LDP) alumni to spread more awareness about the program and to hopefully help out our current trainees. Let me present, @Moonlemon48! Moonlemon48 goes by either Moon or also a duck on demand! (Safe to say, I will be calling you duck from here on :p) Duck loves to travel and pasta, alongside taking pictures. She’s passionate about taking picture of quite literally everything, because she proudly says, "Different eyes see different things, right?" (Rightfully so!) She believes that we all have stories to share and he strongly believes that there's no story too small for photography. That being said, Moon has been a listener with our teen community since June 2021! If you know her, she is a bright presence in the rooms and are always encouraging and supporting others. Moon is also a Teen Quality Star, Listener Verifier, Project Agent for many teams, Safety Patrol member, Listener Coach and a group moderator. She is also a part of the Writers Guild team - in short, Duck is a superstar! What was on the menu? Lots and lots of pasta! Different kinds of pasta! And it went like: What made you join the LDP? So one day, I was just exploring cups and I think I got to know about LDP through the forums, I read about it and it was some thing that I was instantly interested in. When I was in school I was told that I was a 'Natural Leader' So when I came across LDP I was sure that I was going to join and learn about leadership. How was your experience doing the coursework? My experience was magnificent, there were so many things that I learned and I am thankful that I got to experience this wonderful program. Did you find it easy to navigate through the forums for each course? Navigating through the forums was super easy. When I started I didn't really know much about the forums but all the courses had accessible links. It was easy also because I knew my mentor had my back, they were really helpful and made things go super smoothly. How did you dedicate your time to doing the coursework? I used to sit down for 15 to 30 minutes everyday and get as much as I could done. Timers, I realized are really important xD Which course did you like the most? And why? I really liked the first course, the introduction and course description was amazing. What role did you get into after the program? How are you liking the role you got into for the LDP? I am now a room supporter, safety patrol member, peer support, care team guide, discussion host, discussion writer, listener verifier. I am truly enjoying my roles, it's great to be able to support my peers and members through my roles. If you had to give one tip to the current trainees, what would that be? I would probably say find your own voice at your own pace. Take breaks, this is not something that you should stress on. Make sure you're having fun! What can we do to make the program better? Maybe we could add more quizzes and maybe we could have mentors reach out to the listeners because many listeners who are in the program do not know that we have mentors. ...And that's Duck for you! Thank you for reading till here everyone! And, thank you so much for doing this, @Moonlemon48, please give her a big shoutout! I would love to hear any suggestions/question ideas that I can add to this series. If you are an LDP graduate and would love to contribute, please PM me so we can set up our dinner! ...See more Hi everyone!! I wanted to present this year's first Dinner With Our Alumni! With a very special person, @bubblingBreeze14! For those that don't know, 'Dinner With Our Alumni' is a small series across the 7 Cups Academy where I will do a small interview with our leaders who graduated the Leadership Development Program. The aim is to spread more awareness about the program and hopefully everyone gives it a read! So who is Breeze? Breeze is a recent graduate and works as a professional in the IT industry! They love baking with their sister on the weekends. And also loves to play the piano, to read books, and walk around their garden in their free time! They strongly say, "Music, books, and nature are always good at making things better!" Apart from that, Breeze has been with 7 Cups since 2017 and has been able to help a lot of people since (no doubts there!). They are a project agent for the verifiers team, a Quality Mentor, an AL grading team member, and importantly, a listener to members! A few words from them: I've been able to guide fellow listeners and enhance the quality of our community through the above roles so far and I'm super happy that I joined this wonderful family to help more people around the world. What was on the menu? Noodles, french fries, and Breeze's signature chocolate cake O: Here's what they had to say: What made you join the LDP program? I always thought I had the skills needed to be a great leader and I thought enrolling in this program would allow me to see my leadership qualities and showcase them as well. How was your experience doing the coursework? I must say it wasn't always perfect. I had days when I had to complete multiple lessons at a stretch (mainly because I had to do it all while I balanced my personal and professional life 😄) However, it was amazing. I've got the opportunity to learn a lot of things about leadership and personal qualities. Not only that it gave me new insights and allowed me to be more confident of my skills. Did you find it easy to navigate through the forums for each course? Yes I did. The initial document that was shared with me had all the details about the program; how many courses were there, what we had to submit and when, how to talk with a mentor, etc. Apart from that, each individual component of a course (called as discussion in this case) had a link to the next component, which made it easier to navigate instead of trying to find them in the forums section. How did you dedicate your time to doing the coursework? Well, I didn't get a lot of time to do it daily, but I kept some time every weekend to read through each component and do as much as I could. Whenever I had time on weekdays I would go through the course to see what I had to do. If it was something that I could complete within the time I have I would do it, if not I would plan when I'm going to do it and stick to it. I also didn't forget to take breaks. Some courses were big and required a lot of attention to details and had a lot of reading materials which took the majority of my time. For the last two courses I created a technique where I would read through all the components in each course to see how it goes so that I could evaluate myself and predict how much time it'll need me to complete them. I must say that was a great move. With that I was able to complete all courses and all paperwork three days before the deadline. Massive success for me personally 😋 Which course did you like the most? And why? I think I liked all of the courses but mainly course 2 and 3. It gave me a lot of information on being a leader and gave me the chance to learn more about my leadership skills. It also gave me new insights to better handle my tasks. I must say I've used what I've learnt through here in both my life in and out of 7 Cups and it has had a positive impact on my daily tasks. What role did you get into after the program? How are you liking the role you got into for the LDP? While working through the LDP course I became a Quality mentor and enrolled in the active listening grading team and have been mentoring listeners for a while so far. It has been an awesome journey in my new role. I've been helping many listeners and it makes me feel as if I'm doing a great thing to make this community even better by helping listeners increase their quality and use their skills to be the best they could be. I must say it made me busy as well, but I'm tackling things by finding ways to better manage all of my tasks and to have some time to support a few members as well while being active in all other roles 😊 After all that's why I joined here, to support people. If you had to give one tip to the current trainees, what would that be? I'd say plan early and enjoy the journey you're taking while doing the program. Take a few minutes to see what kind of content the upcoming discussions bring, so that you know if they require a lot of time when compared to others or not. That will give you a lot of time to think and plan how you can complete those discussions. Try doing this with every course and eventually you'll find a rhythm that gives you a strategy to work on the items. There are some items that require a lot of reading and understanding, taking a considerable time than others. Give yourself to enjoy the program, have fun and learn. So you'd have a lot of time to concentrate on things and re-visit materials if you have to. Also don't forget to have some time off. As much as you want to complete the course you need some time to relax and boost your energy as well 🙂 What can we do to make the program better? I think it's best as it is. It had all the details one could need to get familiar with the program and find the course materials. Great job on making such a wonderful coalition of contents Academy team! Thank you for reading till here! I would love to hear any suggestions/question ideas that I can add to this series. If you are an LDP graduate and would love to contribute, please PM me so we can set up our dinner! Meanwhile, please give a big shout-out to @bubblingBreeze14 for doing this! ...See more Hi everyone! We are already halfway done with December 😱And that warrants for another dinner! Today, we have the lovely @wonderfulRainbow817! Rainbow is an accounting student (send them all your math homework, people x)) who joined 7 Cups simply because they wanted to be able to help others out. They said something that really stuck with me: "I find it important that everyone in this world sees that even though a stranger may not know them, there is still someone out there who cares about them," and that's so powerful! Rainbow has been with the community since April 2021 and have been contributing to the community in many ways - in the forums for the Internship or as a Care Team member and a Listener Coach. What was on the menu? Alfredo Pasta!! Without further ado, here's Rainbow for you: What made you join the LDP? Growing up I have always been shy of taking on a leadership role but once I started getting my footing with being a listener I realized it was time for me to break out of my shell a little. I just wanted to be able to gain some skills so I could emerge as the leader I know I can be. How was your experience doing the coursework? I had a great time while doing my coursework! I'll be honest, some of the sections took a little longer than others but it was totally worth it. The coursework really was set up well because it made me truly think deeply about what it means to be a leader and the type of leader I could be. I learned so much about myself through it. Did you find it easy to navigate through the forums for each course? Yes, there was a link at the bottom of each topic that would take you to the next one you needed to complete. That was so much easier than having to search through forums for each course. How did you dedicate your time to doing the coursework? I would sit down and spend 30 minutes on it every night. Depending upon which course it was I was able to get a whole course done but sometimes I was only able to get 2-3 parts of the course done. I wanted to make sure I was spending enough time on it while also paying attention to my roles I have here on 7 Cups, plus making sure I was still spending time on things that needed done in my personal life. I never spent more than an hour at a time on it. Which course did you like the most? And why? I enjoyed course 4 because that is where I spent the most time analyzing how to be a great leader whether in the community, in a small group, and just in my personal life. I really was able to grasp what I was good at and evolve through it and take what I wasn't so good at and improve it. What role did you get into after the program? How are you liking the role you got into for the LDP? Well I am now a room supporter, forum supporter, and peer supporter. I really like how I chose peer supporter. The reason I specifically chose that role is because of the reason I joined 7 Cups. I joined because I wanted to be a support for those who are needing a little extra support or who may be having the worst day of their life. I've dealt with a lot of obstacles in life and I know how important support can be for our mental health and all around health. If you had to give one tip to the current trainees, what would that be? To be patient and make sure you manage your time. Things aren't always going to come easy to people and sometimes it is time to take a break and come back to it at a later time. What can we do to make the program better? I think making it more interactive. Maybe instead of all just reading and responding if there were mini games that you could interact with others going through the program it would make it easier to interact with others and be more engaging. Thank you for reading till here! I would love to hear any suggestions/question ideas that I can add to this series. If you are an LDP graduate and would love to contribute, please PM me so we can set up our dinner! Meanwhile, please give a big shout-out to @wonderfulRainbow817 for doing this, you're amazing! ...See more Hello all! It’s been a while but I am excited to announce a new Sunday dinner! Today, we have our very own @IcedEthan! Ethan is 19 and lives in the United Kingdom, living a city life with his friend. Ethan has 2 cats: Dali and Bear! Not only cats but also a cockatiel named Chicken! In his free time, Ethan loves to play video games and go out with friends. On 7 Cups, IcedEthan has been supporting the Academy for a long time now. He started as an intern graduate and now supports the Internship program as well as the Leadership Development Program. What was on the menu? Spaghetti bolognaise! With a lot of parmesan cheese and some garlic bread. Without further ado, here's Ethan for you: What made you join the LDP? I’ve been on 7Cups for a couple years now and have previously completed the Internship, so the introduction of additional Academy programs really intrigued me and I was inspired to join based on my experience with the Internship. How was your experience doing the coursework? Some people, myself included, are easily put off by the idea of coursework but everything you need to do as a Trainee is very clearly set out and none of the work is too difficult. I found it quite enjoyable learning about the different aspects to leadership and development, and how they apply to 7Cups and the real world. Did you find it easy to navigate through the forums for each course? Yes, it was incredibly simple! There are easily accessible links to everything, and I know that if I couldn’t find what I was looking for I could just ask an Academy Mentor. How did you dedicate your time to doing the coursework? I looked at how much work there was to do over the course of the program, and I divided equally between the number of weeks and did little work but often, which made everything a lot easier. It was very easy to make a little sort of schedule with reminders of when to do what work. Which course did you like the most? And why? I loved Course 1 the most because it was a great introduction to the program and really helped me to understand myself more. What role did you get into after the program? How are you liking the role you got into for the LDP? I became an Academy Mentor for the Internship program, which is great because of my experience with previously completing the Internship! If you had to give one tip to the current trainees, what would that be? Remember that this is a completely optional online program, and you should be having fun. Enjoy what you do and take your time to figure out which leadership area you want to go into. What can we do to make the program better? I’m not sure, I think it’s great the way it is and I managed to get through it all with no struggles. Thank you for reading till here! I would love to hear any suggestions/question ideas that I can add to this series. If you are an LDP graduate and would love to contribute, please PM me so we can set up our dinner! Meanwhile, please give a big shout-out to @IcedEthan for doing this, you're amazing! ...See more I feel blessed and privileged with a lot of things. I have been through as a lot of us and we all have been through a lot. We are living in a world and here things can't always work according to our will. So somehow we all need one another to talk about. That's how we create a balance. That's what we humans are blessed with, we can communicate and share what bothers us. Share always make things easier of us. I am not a certified listener nor my degree is in psychology. I am just giving it a try to see how far can I go. There are a lot of people in my surrounding those who would never get what 7 cups is. If someone feels good by the end of the discussion, that's a good feeling for me. If some stranger feels that you help him/her, that's a lot for me. We all can just try putting efforts to make this world a better place to live. If someone wants to talk with me I am available here for you and I promise I will try my best to help you. P.S: I am not a mind reader

...See more Hello all! I am excited to announce a new dinner I had! Today, we have the everglowing @windSpirit! Usually goes by Wind and is a power of a member. They are 24 and have been here since March 2020! As a memeber, they faced problems with depression and joining 7 Cups helped them! Wind loves science, walking and meditating (all are Toast approved xD)! Wind is also a lovely leader in the Anxiety Support Community under the role of Room Supporter - so do give them a wave if you see them there ~ What was on the menu? Pizza and a lots of chocolate (Can never go wrong with the classics!) Without further ado, here's Wind for you: What made you join the LDP? It was interesting for me because I was learning about leadership and I stopped here because I believe it can help me to be a good leader. How was your experience doing the coursework? It was fun. It was very interesting because I learned a lot new both about myself and about leadership. At start, to be honest I thought it's a lot, but I managed it. Did you find it easy to navigate through the forums for each course? Initially, I used a google doc to find the right page, it was a lot of links, but since I understood the structure of forums, it became far more easier. How did you dedicate your time to doing the coursework? I used pretty much of my free time. And I wasn't doing it so fast but steadily and in enjoying way. I tried to understand and remember the most of the information! Which course did you like the most? And why? I can say it was the course 1. Because the most rememberable was System vs Goals lesson. I can't also forget circle of influence and circle of concern from course 3, as it was quite informative and important for me. What role did you get into after the program? How are you liking the role you got into for the LDP? I'm a forum and room supporter. I like it very much. Making sure that people are heard. If you had to give one tip to the current trainees, what would that be? Don't rush it, learn in your way, and best of wishes for you to make it done. What can we do to make the program better? I'd prefer to see some reminder of progress report on email. And I'd prefer to check list everything in coursework, to have a bit more structurized plan of coursework with to-do list explaining that bi-weekly reports are needed and why. (Hopefully our new structure does this well!) Thank you for reading till here! I would love to hear any suggestions/question ideas that I can add to this series. If you are an LDP graduate and would love to contribute, please PM me so we can set up our dinner! Meanwhile, please give a big shout-out to @windSpirit for doing this, you're amazing! ...See more Hello all! I am excited to announce a new Sunday dinner! This week we have, the lovely @KateDoskocilova! Kate is an amateur model, a writer (currently working on their first ever complete book :o), and a mental health speaker (they have their own platform to talk about mental health and such issues) - Kate is a superwoman! She has been a listener since August 2020 and already has made so much impact. They are a strong advocate to the LGBTQ+ subcommunity and do a lot of it! They are also a Sharing Circle host so you must've seen them around in the chat rooms helping peers out What was on the menu? Spaghetti, Souvlaki (a classic and typical Greek food), and Crepes! *instant food coma* Without further ado, here's Kate for you: What made you join the LDP? What made me join the LDP was that I wanted to make sure I was educated enough on being a leader before getting a role for the community! How was your experience doing the coursework? My experience during the coursework was pretty nice. It was easier than I thought, to be honest! Did you find it easy to navigate through the forums for each course? In the beggining, I thought it'd be very hard, but I soon figured things out myself and since I organized everything so that I wouldn't get lost/forget anything, it became an easy-peasy thing to go through. How did you dedicate your time to doing the coursework? I dedicated my time by completing the coursework most of the time, as well as learning further information about the roles. Which course did you like the most? And why? I mostly liked the coursework with the book, "7 Cups for the Searching Soul," since it had some useful information and was interesting to read! How are you liking the role you got into for the LDP? I got into the Room Supporter role after the program, and I am currently a Moderator for that room since I applied to upgrade from an RS to a centered mod. If you had to give one tip to the current trainees, what would that be? It's that what would be most needed to understand the course is to first take a look around the forums and make sure to read the emails sent by the project leaders well so that it's easier to navigate yourself through the forums and not get lost. What can we do to make the program better? I don't think there's anything that could be done to make the program better since it's already nicely organized and prepared, as well as it has enough information that will be needed for trainees who want to become leaders. Thank you for reading till here! I would love to hear any suggestions/question ideas that I can add to this series. If you are an LDP graduate and would love to contribute, please PM me so we can set up our dinner! Meanwhile, please give a big shout-out to @KateDoskocilova for doing this, you're amazing! If you want to apply for the LDP, please click here [https://www.7cups.com/forum/LeadershipDevelopmentProgram_202/LeadershipDevelopmentTrack_2138/LeadershipDevelopmentProgramUpdatesAnnouncement_230561/].
