PL 101: Introduce Yourself! (Discussion 1)

GlenM June 29th, 2020

Welcome to our first course in the Leadership Development Program! I am very excited to get this going. This has been something we've wanted to do for the last several months and at long last it is here. Please find the course description below. Please also introduce yourself and let us (if comfortable) where you are from and a recent book or movie you have enjoyed. I'll get us started!

Course Description: You have personal gifts and strengths that can help you in life and also help other people. Identifying, amplifying, and deliberately building those strengths enables you to have a better personal life, professional life, and also enables you to more effectively serve others in our community. People sometimes make the mistake of focusing too much on their weaknesses. This can help, but deliberately building your strengths will get you much further in life and in your career. This course provides links to personality testing (MBTI, Big 5) where you can learn to identify your personality style and strengths. It helps you understand how to match your strengths to roles in the 7 Cups community and enables you to find a career path that will be fulfilling. Join other new leaders in individual and group learning exercises.

Please note: In order to successfully complete the LDP, you must respond to all discussion posts. Your comment/response should answer the questions/shows that you completed the given activity (if any). Read the post carefully and follow the instructions given. Save your responses to a document that you can later refer to. You will need to copy/paste your response in the course evaluation form at the end of each course to show that you have done the work and to refresh your memory.

After fulfilling the requirements of this post, please check out the next post here! You must take part in the brainstorming/activities given in all of these posts to successfully complete the program.

This post is brought to you by the Leadership Development Program Team, find out more information about the program here.

Hi, I'm Chloe from North Yorkshire, England. I'm so happy to have the opportunity to be part of this leadership programme.
I recently watched a film called Andhadhun. It is a Hindi thriller film about a 'blind' pianist. It was a great watch and very thought provoking. I also love the music from it and hope one day I can play it myself.

Hello!! I go by Astro or Skies.

I'm a born and raised Texan (USA), and I still live in that same state. Currently I'm working on the novel "Kiss the Girls" by James Patterson and a manga called "Red Like Roses" based off the RWBY anime. I just rewatched "Spirited Away" which is a movie from Studio Ghibli that I loved as a small child, and still very much enjoy today.

@GlenM

Hey everyone!

I usuallly go by Day or Dream. I live in Northern California, where I just moved here just 4 years ago. I have been binge watching so many k-dramas and c-dramas that I don't even know which one I'm watching ahaha. All of them were pretty good. As for movies, just a few days ago, I rewatched Jamanji 2 because well, it's a good movie. I aboslutely love reading, and in my opinion, any book that has a good ending is good (sorry, but I'm not a big fan of bad endings where like the main character is gone or something). A recent book I read is the Firstlife triology, which is pretty good but kinda odd in the end of the last book. I am super excited to start this course!! :)

Heya! I'm Lex and I'm from Nigeria :D I've lived here my whole life as well xD

I love listening to music, writing poetry and watching anime. I also play the guitar. Currently, I'm reading textbooks that'll help me learn Japanese and French. I've been listening to a lot of French music lately and I've still been watching anime. I got to the 100th episode of Fairy Tail about 2 days ago (not really an achievement but I like to brag about it) 😁

Hi, Angel here & my real name is Saadia. I am an Indian. I have recently started reading a self-help book called "How to stop worrying & start living" by Dale Carnegie. I am more into horror movies but haven't really got a chance to watch any due to my hectic schedule.

I am super excited to begin this marvelous journey of honing my listening skills with everyone. ❤

Loads of love and best wishes. ❤
