PL 101: Introduce Yourself! (Discussion 1)
Welcome to our first course in the Leadership Development Program! I am very excited to get this going. This has been something we've wanted to do for the last several months and at long last it is here. Please find the course description below. Please also introduce yourself and let us (if comfortable) where you are from and a recent book or movie you have enjoyed. I'll get us started!
Course Description: You have personal gifts and strengths that can help you in life and also help other people. Identifying, amplifying, and deliberately building those strengths enables you to have a better personal life, professional life, and also enables you to more effectively serve others in our community. People sometimes make the mistake of focusing too much on their weaknesses. This can help, but deliberately building your strengths will get you much further in life and in your career. This course provides links to personality testing (MBTI, Big 5) where you can learn to identify your personality style and strengths. It helps you understand how to match your strengths to roles in the 7 Cups community and enables you to find a career path that will be fulfilling. Join other new leaders in individual and group learning exercises.
Please note: In order to successfully complete the LDP, you must respond to all discussion posts. Your comment/response should answer the questions/shows that you completed the given activity (if any). Read the post carefully and follow the instructions given. Save your responses to a document that you can later refer to. You will need to copy/paste your response in the course evaluation form at the end of each course to show that you have done the work and to refresh your memory.
After fulfilling the requirements of this post, please check out the next post here! You must take part in the brainstorming/activities given in all of these posts to successfully complete the program.
This post is brought to you by the Leadership Development Program Team, find out more information about the program here.

@GlenM
Thanks Glen, I am sure that your niece will love it in New Zealand it is a great place!
Yes it is a good course that I'm doing up to one about problem solving and innovation now. Lots of good ideas that are coming up that also not only could apply to teaching but also to 7cups :)

@GlenM
Hey there! I am Cocoa, and I am from Maryland! It's one of the smaller states on the Eastern Shore of the United States. A movie I rewatched recently was Atlantis. It's a cartoon disney movie but it's super good!
@cocoakrispies121
Nice to meet you cocoa!
I was in Maryland a few months ago!
Atlantis is a really lovely film :)
Hello everyone, nice to meet you all. I am kermit. I am from India.
The recent movie Ive seen (rewatched) is chhichhore. Its a really nice movie. So much life lessons in it 😀
Im looking forward to learning more though the program.
@Magicallykermit58 glad to have you here! I've never heard of that - what is the key lesson?
@GlenM
It's a really beautiful movie showing how teenagers are focused on exams and forget what life really means. Three key lessons I took from the movie is:
💖The movie shows us how we are often burdened by how the society sees us but in reality all the matters if how we view ourselves nor others.
💖Results don't define the journey the efforts do.
We are always told how to prepare for success but never told how to handle failure.
💖Just cause you failed in exams doesn't mean you fail in life.
@Magicallykermit58
Nice to meet you Kermit! :)
Thanks for the film recommendation!

Hi Glen and everyone!! 😀😀
First of all, I assume these words find you and all well, and safe! 🙏🙏
So, my 7 Cups' name is WatchingOverYou, sometimes they call me Watching, WOY, etc., but I prefer to be called Pedro (real name), and I come from Portugal.
On another note, Joker is one of my favorite movies from recent times, and by far one the top of the most impactful/influential of my entire life, guess for obvious reasons... Anyway, I only watched Joker once (in the movies, long before the pandemic was even a threat), but I've already bought it and am gaining the courage and guts to watch it again, at least one more time.
Lastly, thank you @GlenM for this amazing opportunity, I can't stress enough how much this means to me, and how thrilled and excited I am for becoming a part of it!!!
Anyway, also thanks to @ASilentObserver for the gentle and kind tag!
Peace and much love and hugs to all of you awesome, lovely people!! 💗💗💖💖
@WatchingOverYou
Thank you for sharing! I love joker (The character). Its good to have you with us in this journey!

I want to watch it too. Welcome Pedro!!
@WatchingOverYou Hello! First of all you have a very ispiring name and you seem to be a very kind person! It's nice having you here. I liked Joker as well. The movie had a very deep meaning and it's one of the kinds of movies that make you want to watch it again and observe more things.
@GlenM Hi I'm KindnessMatters2020 and I go by Katie. I live in Virginia and have loved meeting and supporting so many amazing people across the world. To recover my brain from too much quarantine Netflix binges, I have been listening to free courses offered by major universities on the Coursera website. I highly recommend the Foundations of Positive Psychology, the Science of Well-Being and the course on Resilience. Each lecture is less than an hour, free and you can listen anytime, anywhere -- so you can even listen while excercising :) to keep our brains and bodies healthy!
@KindnessMatters2020 I love that you are doing this - also enrolled in several courses and it is calming how self-improvement and a passion of lifelong learning helps stay grounded.
@KindnessMatters2020 welcome! I lived in Virginia Beach at one point. Love that area and love positive psych :)
@GlenM
I love virgina beach too! :)
@KindnessMatters2020

Hi, this is Bliss, i travel much and the world is like a home.
At heart i am a explorer, wanderer and a seeker.
By profession i have a wedding photography business which gives me moments to be with happy families and in return give them those moments back to be cherished forever .
I dream of a world without geographical borders, one religion , more tolerance, where love and peace are in the air.
Presently am reading the Hindu scripture 'The Bhagavat Gita". Written around 2nd century, this is an outstanding lecture on philosophy, psychology , yoga and a spiritual dictionary
@blissart Hi Bliss
