Accepting feedback is a crucial part of being a good leader.
Think about the most recent feedback you received: How did you react? How did you feel? Why do you think you reacted and feel that way? What would you do differently after having watched the video?
After fulfilling the requirements of this post, please check out the next post here! You must take part in the brainstorming/activities given in all of these posts to successfully complete the program.

How did you react? I was really shocked to be honest. The feedback wasn't that positive and even though I had tried my best, I didn't do a good job according to the person who gave the feedback. 2. How do you feel? I was sad. I was expecting a good positive feedback. But I got a negative one. 3. Why do you think you reacted and felt that way? Maybe because deep down i believed that I've done a great job and the other person was satisfied. May be it was my overconfidence, or the fact that I didn't know everything and I believed that I know. 4. What would you do differently having watched the video? Maybe I would have not taken it negatively. Ofcourse later on I thought that this could be a way of improving myself in that area. But in the beginning, I was sad and felt negative. If I'd have watched this video earlier, maybe I would have skipped the feeling negative part.
@SweetDreamer69 I'm glad to see you trying your best and you staying optimistic about your life journey. It definitely gets hard at times.
Think about the most recent feedback you received: How did you react?
Recently I had received feedback so below are my reaction
Definitely for few sec of moment I resist to take it. But still I try to listen whole point and take a breath and try to keep my thought aside. After realising that yes they had point in their feedback I was totally fine in accepting it without resistance. Said sorry for being bit resistance at first. Thanks them for pointing out and revert back to keep that point noted and bring improvement.
How did you feel? Why do you think you reacted and feel that way?
Being human as in video also shown we have that resistance habit but yes definitely I have resistance too but I had improved a lot in that. I think the way people give feedback also matter. Nobody like someone say it rude way. As whatever we do we give hard work. A little appreciation or validation we expect. That boost our self confidence.
What would you do differently after having watched the video?
After watching video surely I will overcome that few seconds of resistance I feel in every feedback I get. I will be more open and I will keep feedback as not commenting on me but on my task Like a two different thing. So I don’t feel it is on me but on my work that really would help me to be taking it more positively and atleast I listen the other person well.
Think about the most recent feedback you received:
The most recent feedback I’ve received was actually here on 7 Cups. It was about the Active Listening 2 test I did near the end of last month. A member of the Active Listening Grading Team messaged me about how I did and informed me that although I answered well from the empathy and validation aspect, I was lacking in the reflection department – hence I couldn’t past the test.
How did you react?
I reacted expressively and politely, which is my default way of approaching any feedback. I thanked them and replied that I would check out the link they provided and figure out what reflecting back on the replies meant (on hindsight, I think this could have been taken as being passive aggressive).
How did you feel?
I was sad and embarrassed to find out that I didn’t pass – that I came up short.
Why do you think you reacted and feel that way?
I think it’s largely because I was feeling overconfident when I took the test, and thought that that should have been enough for me to pass. So when I didn’t, I felt embarrassed of myself and wanted to save face.
What would you do differently after having watched the video?
I think I would try to ask questions about what I could do to improve and be more receptive, instead of trying to avoid the embarrassment of it all. I also would like to try not to come off as passive aggressive.
The most recent feedback I have gotten was saying I was a great listener who is more mature than most people my age (almost twenty). This made me surprised because while I get this a lot, I'm autistic so sometimes my brain acts younger than my age. After watching the video, I decided I will try to write sentences that do not have the possibility to come across as mean (which can be hard since I can't tell tone in person, let alone a text).
@MarleyR I think I reacted this way because of my autism. I often get treated as lower because I'm neurodivergent, so it was nice to be seen as an equal.
@MarleyR
Your doing a great job in supporting the community and well put answer
Wishing you the very best

The most recent feedback I remember receiving was for my verified listening interview where me and a representative from the team went through a scenario. At the end of it, She told me that I was doing a pretty good job but I was phrasing a few of my opinions differently which sounded like an advice. I was taken aback but I was really thankful for the feedback and I carefully worked on phrasing my sentences since that day. I was taken aback for sure as I believed that my way of conversing with members was right and when I was given the feedback I was quite shocked and got worried about my negligence.
Even after the video, I still believe that my approach on receiving feedback would never change, I have always seen it as a fuel for better understanding and growth and I would happily accept it any time from anyone.

I reacted calmly, and I felt appreciated because someone took the time to give the feedback k. I like getting feedback, so i felt that way because it is meaningful to me. I think i wouldn't do anything differently, but maybe apply the feedback better.
Hello Everyone!

The video is for sure, a great one! As I could remember, I reacted well and was thankful to them for taking the time to review and provide me the feedback. For my feelings, I did not feel bad or down rather I accepted it with kindness. Actually, the reason that made me react softly after receiving feedback was the experience I gained from Cups. In the beginning, when I joined Cups, I really used to feel bad and down after receiving feedback, I used to think that I am doing so many mistakes that I should not do and that I am not capable. But at a later time, after experiencing many things and joining leadership here, I myself started to ask peoples for feedback and messaged my team leaders to provide me feedback. By that time, I got to know the importance of feedback, the way it improves us and helps us to grow and learn. I am already following most of the tips mentioned in the video. Thank you for such an informative video.
Thank You!
Be the change that you wish to see in the world.

I, recently, received feedback regarding a project I was a part of. My reaction was one of acceptance, as always. I thanked him and told him that I would make the changes that he pointed out.
In terms of feelings, initially, I was quite nervous and anxious. This was more due to my insecurities and my general nature. In terms of what I’d do differently, is to try to reduce feeling so anxious before a feedback session. While I always am open to my mistakes being pointed out, there still is always this nervousness that loiters in the background. I think it’s more to do with feeling like I’ve disappointed or let down the other person.
But, I do understand now, that we cannot be perfect and mistakes are inevitable.

My most recent feedback?
- I worked so hard yet i recieved the feedback which suggested i am not good enough
How did i feel?
- Disheartened, a bit angry and frustrated. I just lost all my motivation.
Why did i feel that way?
- I worked really hard and i though the feedback could have a little more appreciation. It was full of suggestions but lacked the positivity.
After watching the video?
-I went through it again. I realized it was meant to be constructive. I found out i was really lacking in the areas it highlighted. I found out how much room i had to improve.

The last feedback i received was not so good as i expected it to be. At first, i was quite shocked and sad. I really wanted to debate the fact that where I was wrong. But i reminded myself to stay calm and accepted the feedback quietly.
I was dissapointed because i was thinking of getting a good response and i worked really hard.
I will take time to understand and, to process the feedback. I will try to avoid engaging in a debate. instead, will ask questions to get to the root of actual issue being raised and possible solution for addressing them.
