I learned that burnout can occur at any given time. To avoid it, we must know when to take a self-care break.

I have experienced burnout so it is known to me how it feels like. Therefore, I maintain certain activities in my daily routine to avoid it. The activities that I indulge in to avoid burnout are as follows:

-Workout

-Frequent breaks

-Self-help books

I learned a lot from the slides. I discovered that I can't give what I don't have and in the process of helping others I should avoid burn out..I also learned not to accumulate portfolios, it's better to drop some to be effective and also fill my emotional, physical needs. It is good for me to get go offline for a while to get more energy and refreshed.

I have learned that burnout could cause me to work as efficiently as I could

I think I would make sure to take adequate breaks, know my limits and not bite off more than I can chew. As the saying goes, you cant pour from an empty cup

I learned that burnout is a chronic stress and identifying its symptoms, practicing self care breaks and setting boundaries can help to avoid burnout.

ouiCherie January 5th, 2021

@Heather225

Burnout is a state of chronic stress that leads to: physical and emotional exhaustion | cynicism and detachment | feeling of ineffectiveness and lack of accomplishment

Major signs of burnout:

Chronic fatigue, insomnia, forgetfulness or lack of focus, physical symptoms (like nausea, heart palpitations, headaches, or gastrointestinal pain), increased illness, loss of appetite, anxiety, depression, and anger.

Signs of growing burnout:

Cynicism, loss of enjoyment, pessimism, detachment, irritability, poor performance

How to stay healthy and avoid burnout:

Get time away - spending time offline is paramount to feeling recharged.

Self-Care! Take self-care breaks and log off completely for a few days.

Reflect on your available time for volunteering - It is better to have less titles and enjoy yourself versus all the roles and miserable.

Tell us what you learned: I learned the different signs of burnout, so know I can better understand them. I also learned what burnout entails.

What would you do to stay healthy and avoid burnout?: I will practice self-care and observe my mind to know when I am near a burnout.

beautifulSeal9714 January 17th, 2021

@Heather225

- I learned that burnout is a state of chronic stress and that it can also have physical and emotional symptoms.

- I would take it slow and also go on self care breaks regularly to ease things and also be able to enjoy what I do here at 7Cups.

mxmes January 19th, 2021

@Heather225

I learned about the 7 values. Burnout is a state of chronic stress that leads to physical and emotional exhaustion, cynicism and detachment, and feelings of ineffectiveness and lack of accomplishment.

I will manage my time wisely to the point where I can get some time to myself and do some self-care that I often like to do.

IceCream4IceCream January 28th, 2021

@Heather225

Please read it through and in the replies, tell us what you learned,

1. Burnout can make you a bad leader
2. Burnout in leaders reduces the ability of 7 Cups to help members.
3. Boundaries can prevent burnout.

and what you will do to stay healthy and avoid burnout!

1. Schedule my commitments so I don’t put more hours than I have the resources to commit
2. Schedule self care as well - I try to do something creative I enjoy every day like making some art.
3. Prioritise the basics: sleep, eating well, drinking enough water.
4. Only commit to activities which give me energy rather than simply draining me.

generousBreeze169 February 20th, 2021

@jovialButterfly6752

I can relate to committing to things that you find easy and fun to do that draining because I sometimes drain myself to get to something which then complicates things even more
