A poem I wrote!
TRIGGER WARNING: VIOLENCE/WAR

I'll never forget that morning,
My sister woke me up and she was screaming,
There was a look of fear on her face.
"Wake up, you need to see this!"
Though I was barely awake,
I knew that this was something major.
My sister sat down on my bed and said,
"I think this is the start of an invasion."
All I could think of were the nights
I prayed that it wouldn't come to this,
The families whose lives were changed forever,
And promises our leaders didn't keep.
I watched the bombs fall on my hometown,
My heart breaking every time I watched the news.
How can those people sleep at night
After destroying Mariupol?
I'll never forget the air raid sirens
That preceded so much pain and devastation.
I'll never forget the courage of Ukraine,
And everyone I loved and lost in this invasion.
