Your Journals - Master Post


Hey Everyone!

A few people have been asking about journalling their hobby journey, so I am starting this 'Master Post!' for all Hobby Journals to be linked to so we can find them easily.

What do you do? - Just start a new thread of your own and be sure to put 'Hobby Journal' in the Title and at the top Then post away and keep all your entries in that one thread so we can find them all easily.

What do you post? - Your hobby news, pictures, tips, problems, designs, everything so that we can share with each other as if we are sitting in the same room.

When do you post it? - That is up to you, but at least a few times a month, ideally once a week when you remember and for those of you that are super keen hobbyists then every day!

Please note that using a Trigger Warning or [TW] does not mean that you can then post anything. Please still keep content safe, and age-appropriate for 13-year-olds.
Hobby Zone is a relaxing and friendly place and triggering content should not be posted here.

What a wonderful idea, to give all hobbyists the opportunity of having their own space.

I would suggest posting photos at different stages of a work. This requires some discipline, as one is carried away by the project, with full focus on it.

I once documented the construction of a big telescope, to post online. There is a large community of "telescope builders", and it was a huge success in this community.

My art teacher always reminded us to take photos at different stages of a painting, to share in the group, like the bare drawing, first brushstrokes, different layers, etc.

It might be boring for us, but very interesting to others.

That's a great idea. In my software, it has a feature where I can save the project as I go along and take a screenshot of it. I'll do that as I'm working on my new original embroidery designs!

SEE, doing this together really is a wonderful supportive adventure!! Hobbies are so good for your self-esteem and creativity.

It's like a 'coming home' feeling being in this hobby zone community!! 😄
