***Please note: I am not currently available for 1-on-1 support chats. With my roles as a community mentor leader, group support mentor, and chatroom moderator I will be focusing my efforts primarily on community teams, forums and group support activities.***

It's not a community without 'u'!

About me:
Others have described me as an empathetic individual who strives to be objective, motivational, and empowering. I do firmly believe that if you challenge yourself to look at a situation from a different angle you will see options you have overlooked, and that sometimes even unpalatable solutions need to be seen for what they are, possible solutions. I aim to offer a respectful and non-judgmental ear, keeping in mind that my personal values and beliefs are just that: Mine and need only apply to me/my life.

I am a member of the LGBTQ+ community, some of the labels I use, or have used, to describe(not define) myself include but are not limited to, lesbian, homoromantic asexual and demiromantic. While I am open to and accepting of all members of the LGBTQ+ community, I feel my personal experience makes me most suited to supporting those who relate to or don similar labels.

Now entering my 40's I have had experiences with a variety of issues from early childhood to present. I have found this can enhance my natural ability to empathize while still offering alternate perspectives. I primarily provide support for and am most comfortable with topics I have indicated in my profile. There are certain topics that I do not take chats involving, namely drugs, alcohol, detailed discussion of sexual topics, or any which contravene the rules of 7 Cups.

"No matter what we have come through, or how many perils we have safely passed, or how imperfect and jagged our life has been, we cannot in our heart of hearts imagine how it could have been different. As we look back on it, it slips in behind us in orderly disarray, and, with all its mistakes, acquires a sort of eternal fitness, and even, at times, a poetic glamour." – Randolph Silliman Bourne

Finding Inspiration!
Arts & Crafts / by EmotionsListener
Last post

...See more Summer slump? Artist's block? Or even just a lack of time?  Sometimes our creative pursuits can fall by the wayside, and we need some inspiration! (image consists of a colourful thought bubble with question marks next to a blank canvas on an easel) There are many sources of artistic and creative inspiration. Some people thrive in a clear space with no distractions, while others will have art and chaos all around them to draw inspiration from. Whichever you prefer, it can be useful to know and respect your own creative process. Sometimes finding inspiration is easy, you look at a blank canvas and see the painting it will become before the very first brushstroke. Sometimes inspiration is more organic and grows through the process, you get out your paints and start playing with the colours until something begins to take shape. Sometimes it’s nearly impossible, the canvas remains blank, and you may feel stuck.  So how can you get unstuck? Here are a few ideas: * Visit an art museum, gallery or look through art books! * Exploring and examining art from different time periods and styles can be a great way to get ideas that you haven’t tried before. * Keep in mind you are seeking inspiration not intimidation. * Look through your own work! * Seeing your past work may give you ideas for things you’d like to try again or do differently. * Maybe you weren’t happy with a piece and can use the knowledge you’ve gained since to attempt it again? Perhaps you started an idea that was never fully realized and can go back to finish it now? * Live! Get outside! Observe the world! People watch! Spend time in nature! * Immersing yourself in life can help reenergize you and provide new sources of inspiration.  * Spend some time sketching what you see, a person, a flower, whatever. This can exercise your artistic muscles and help guide you toward what you want to do next. * Connect with other creative people! * Sometimes just spending time talking with others about our art can re-energize our creativity, bouncing ideas off of each other can help to not only clarify them, but also to grow and solidify them. * Mutual enthusiasm can be a motivating thing. * Seek out constructive criticism! * One of the difficult parts of sharing our work can be receiving feedback from others. While hearing the good things about our work can feel nice, meaningful critique can be an important part of honing and developing our skills further. * Useful feedback helps us see where we can make improvements. * Try something new! * Explore a new style, new medium, new subject or even an entirely separate creative pursuit. * Creativity is limitless! Overall, when you’re feeling stuck, lacking inspiration, or even motivation,  it can be tempting to try to force yourself to generate ideas, but this can totally backfire, taking something you enjoy and adding frustration, disappointment, and pressure. So it’s okay to take a step back and try something else for a while. When you do feel ready, get back at it, but also take a moment to remind yourself why you wanted to make art in the first place. Also, even if you have monetized your artistic skills, sometimes it’s good to create something purely for the joy of creating. (image consists of splashing paint in rainbow colours) Now take a moment and consider the following questions and share some of your answers with us! * Why do you want to make art? * Where do you find inspiration? * What are you currently working on? * Do you have an idea journal or other way you save ideas for future use? * What has been the most useful feedback you’ve ever received? Teen LGBTQ+/MOGII Support Chat Update - Return to Pride!🏳️‍🌈
LGBTQ+ / MOGII Support / by EmotionsListener
Last post
September 25th
...See more Hello LGBTQ+/MOGII teens and allies, I wanted to share some news with you about our beloved teen rainbow room. We’ve noticed that with the room open 24/7 the space is often sitting idle or even being used for anything but LGBTQ+/MOGII Support. To keep the room on topic when hosting sessions or even get people to join in sessions when they are happening, we have decided to try to refocus the chat and return it to a space of  “Pride”,  by returning it to pop-up status. That means when you see the teen LGBTQ+/MOGII Support room open there is someone there hosting a session, it may be an open chat or guided discussion, but it’s a great chance to connect with the community over topics that impact us all. From coming out and coping with dysphoria to LGBTQ+ art and culture, the LGBTQ+ room is about all aspects of life as an LGBTQ+ person. So will you join me in launching this new reinvigoration of the teen LGBTQ+ room? Maybe you’d even like to become a room supporter or moderator for the room and host sessions yourself? If so, more information can be found here: Room Supporter [https://www.7cups.com/forum/groupmod/ApplicationStation_2417/RoomSupporterUpdatedRequirementsandApplication_247786/] (listeners or members) or Moderator [https://www.7cups.com/forum/groupmod/ApplicationStation_2417/ApplyforChatroomModeratorInformationonCommCenteredGlobal_112280/] (listeners only). We’d be glad to have you join the team! (Image reads "It's not a community without "U"!" surrounded by a rainbow spiral) We’ll be having a “Return to Pride'' celebration to officially kick off this new focus in the Teen LGBTQ+ Room on Thursday Aug 1, at 2pm ET. Hope to see you there!  Want to know when other LGBTQ+ sessions will be happening? Check out the community calendar here [https://www.7cups.com/home/communityCalendar.php]!

Add some sparkle to your day with this simple craft?
Arts & Crafts / by EmotionsListener

...See more So, this is a fairly simple craft that only takes a few items but can be lots of fun, and doesn't require a lot of special skills either! It’s like painted rocks in a new and shiny way. (image consists of a glass bead craft with silver stars set over blue and purple glitter) Materials: * Clear flat glass beads of any size * Nail polish or paint in your choice of colour(s) (I like glitter nail polish) * Clear nail polish or sealant * Glitter & confetti (optional) * Pens or markers that work on glass (optional) (image consists of clear flat glass beads and assorted colours of nail polish) Instructions: * So the process is simple, first wash and dry your flat glass beads then lay them so that the flat side is facing up, this will be the side you paint/decorate.  * If you are using pens or markers to add to your design, draw these on the flat backing, note the final project will be flipped so any writing will need to be reversed. * Then, if you are using a loose glitter or confetti, paint a thin layer of clear nail polish and sprinkle or lay the glitter/confetti into this layer. Allow the nail polish to dry completely before moving to the next step. (If larger pieces of confetti are used  you may need to add a second coat of clear nail polish before moving on in order to keep it secure and prevent other colours from seeping  under the confetti.) * Next you will take your main colour of paint or nail polish and paint a thin layer on the flat side of the glass bead. This is very important: Always allow it to dry completely between layers, not just to the touch. You may need to add multiple coats to achieve the intensity of colour you want.. * Finally add a layer of clear nail polish or sealant and leave it to dry overnight. Flip over your new “gems” and admire your work!   (image consists of a dish with finished glass bead crafts in various colours) Things to remember: * If you don’t allow enough time between layers to dry or apply too thick a layer of paint the paint can become gummy and easily marked/dented, and ultimately be left with a mess. * If the final layer of nail polish or sealant is sticky even after drying you may want to add a layer of felt to the bottom to protect other surfaces from transfer. * Even if some of your gems didn’t turnout, you can always use some nail polish remover before sealing and try again! So will you be making some gems to add a bit of sparkle to your day? Maybe you have a pet rock who could use a glassy friend? Share yours with us! Making in May

...See more It’s May already! This year seems to be flying past. Hopefully the change of seasons has been able to re-energize everyone and reignite your passion for your creative pursuits. I know I’ve been extremely busy so far this year but I find that’s all the more reason to make time for crafting! I try to remember making time for arts and crafts is making time for my mental health too! At this time of year I feel drawn to my various flower crafts like the one below, this month I am also hoping to find the time to make a bouquet of crochet flowers! (Image consists of a craft made from origami flowers) So as we say goodbye to April showers and hello to May flowers, what crafts do you have blooming? Consider the following questions and take a moment to check in! * First off, what have you been making and creating recently?  * As it’s mental health awareness month, how do your arts and crafts play into your mental health?  Do you use them as part of your coping skills? * Sometimes the pursuit of perfection with our arts and crafts can have negative impacts as well, how do you  cope with or avoid this? * So as spring moves toward summer, are you looking for new projects or ideas? Have anything you are hoping to create? What inspires you? ...See more It’s nearly Valentine’s, why not craft up this simple pattern you may love? 3D Crochet Heart (Beginner/intermediate) Materials: * Small crochet hook (3.5mm or less) * Stitch marker * Worsted weight (3) yarn in any colour * Fiberfill stuffing * Yarn needle * (As always, a bit of patience!) Abbreviations: (US terminology) st = stitch sc= single crochet inc = increase (2 sc into single stitch) dec =invisible decrease (sc 2 stitches together) sl st = slip stitch [.]= total number of stitches in round Working in continuous rounds with a yarn marker, mark the beginning of each round. Upper Heart: (Make 2.) Rnd   1: 6 sc in a magic ring [6] Rnd   2: inc in each stitch repeat around [12] Rnd   3: *sc, inc in next st, repeat from * around [18] Rnd   4: sc around. [18] * For the first upper heart section, cut a long yarn tail and pull the end through the final stitch * For the second upper heart section do not fasten off but continue working as follows in lower heart directions. Lower Heart: (in this step we'll connect the two upper heart sections together) Rnd   5:  Connect the first upper heart section to the second with a sc. Place your stitch marker in this stitch as it will be the first stitch of the new round. SC in next 15 stitches. Skip the next 2 stitches remaining on the first upper heart section, skip 2 stitches on the second heart section before you continue to sc around. [32]  (Yes this will leave a hole for the time being) Rnd   6: sc around. [32] * Before proceeding with rounds, carefully secure your working end and use the long tail from the first upper heart section to sew the hole closed. Fasten off securely. Pick up your working end and resume working the remaining rounds. Rnd   7: 6 sc, 2 dec, 12 sc, 2 dec, 6 sc. [28] Rnd   8: 5 sc, 2 dec, 10 sc, 2 dec, 5 sc. [24] Rnd   9: 4 sc, 2 dec, 8 sc, 2 dec, 4 sc. [20] * Begin stuffing the heart after round 9 and continue stuffing as needed after each round. Rnd  10: 3 sc, 2 dec, 6 sc, 2 dec, 3 sc. [16] Rnd  11: 2 sc, 2 dec, 4 sc, 2 dec, 2 sc. [12] Rnd  12: 1 sc, 2 dec, 2 sc, 2 dec, 1 sc. [8] Rnd  13: dec around [4] (This round is entirely optional - it will give a more “pointed’ bottom) * Fasten off leaving a long tail. Sew through the outer loop only of each of the final row of stitches, pull tight to close. Work in the end. [Image consists of a pair of crocheted hearts.] I’ll be working on making a whole rainbow of hearts the next few days, but I’d love to see yours as well! Share your pictures here! ...See more December is flying by, lots of holidays already celebrated and one week left before Christmas. This time of year there can be increased pressure to be happy, thankful and in the mood for celebrating. However for many this time of year carries with it difficult family relationships, stress and struggle.  If you are full of holiday cheer, or struggling at this time of year, take a moment to check in: * Do you celebrate any holidays this time of year? What do you love or loathe about this time of year? * What is one thing you need this week? How will you go about filling that need? * If you are LGBTQ+, how has being LGBTQ+ impacted your holiday celebrations? (For better or worse.) * If you aren’t LGBTQ+ but are an ally, what is one way you try to be an ally at this time of the year? Thanks for putting up with me.
Again, I don't know how she puts up with me and my mess. I am forever grateful she does and right now I am forever in debt to her kindness and compassion. I don't think I would know what to do without her guidance. Thank you so much for your support and understanding.
You are an incredible listener who I owe many thanks to. You seem so dedicated to trying your best to support me and for that I will forever be grateful. You show you care with how you speak to me and making sure that this is something I need at the moment. You’re very patient and put up with my back and forth of opening up a ton and not feeling okay with opening up and not many people can handle that. I appreciate your understanding and empathy you show toward me no matter what I seem to express that is bothering me or how it may make me feel. You’re very good at not making me feel judged, and you talk about things that help me understand what you’re saying even if I don’t always communicate that directly. Thanks again for your support and making me feel like I finally found someone who is willing. It means more to me than you will ever know.
Wonderful person.
Emotions have to be one of the most amazing people I have ever met. I can't believe how much support and kindness she showed me. She treated me like a real person with real feelings and struggles. It's almost surreal how much she cared about me. What I appreciated most was how careful and empathetic she was with her support. She wasn't afraid to ask difficult questions or take her time to explain things thoroughly. I don't know how I'll ever be able to thank her for everything she did for me today.

Really good listener. They really care about you. I feel great after talking to them.
They were very nice! They helped me come up with a new communication method
Really good listener, understanding and responsive. Helped me out a lot.
This listener always puts the member she is listening to first and refrains from judgement, unnecssary/harmful advice, but rather asks the member how they might best be able to solve their issue. Personally, I have found this has helped me to take responsibilty of the issues and empowered me to take action to solve them. 5/5 definitely.
Always here for me, really understands me like no one else does. Makes me feel sane.
